Okay, a quick request and then you can go back to gushing over our favorite assassin, okay? ;)

So I'm sure most of you saw the post that Patrick Weekes put up a while ago about the connections between cystic fibrosis and Kepral's syndrome. I offered to form a Team Krios on the thread with any Thane fan that was willing to do a CFF event with me this fall and got some interest.

I have quite a few friends that are pumped about a. having a reason to dress in all green and b. helping a good cause by being nerdy; but I'd like it if we could get the rest of the community involved. If you live in the northeastern US (or don't and would like to form another team), I'd love if you could check out our group -

http://social.bioware.com/group/4606/

We're still in the early stages trying to pick out an event that works for everyone, but it's going to be fun, I promise!

...You know you want to join for the Thane the Riveter picture alone.

Ahhh Blasto! excellent :D.

'I'd very much like to see... a desert' I always think there's a hint of humor in the way this line is delivered, not that he doesn't want to see a desert, but he must be aware that it's a bit of an unconventional destination for a human. Although if the accommodation was good I'm sure shep would be more than happy to go.

Oh!  I took it to mean he wanted to extend his life a bit longer, if he could be with femshep, as deserts are arid.  I have to replay that scene now.

Feel free to throw rotten tomatoes at me, but I think that Thane's potential is kinda wasted on the Normandy. Sure, he worked well for suicide mission (his personal story reasons), but he never made an impression of being a team player in the same way that, say, Garrus or heck, even Mordin could be.

What I mean is, while I think he performed brilliantly on a squad, he never was presented with an opportunity to use his strength/skills/training to its fullest. Despite passing on a few pearls of wisdom, he isn't a true leader/mentor type. He excells at killing with finesse, but wherever Shepard goes things explode... Shepard's presence doesn't leave much room for grace.

I'm kind of looking forward to seeing what role he can play and what he can achieve outside the Normandy to further Shepard's agenda, actually. As long as it's crystal clear that he's with Shepard in spirit, anyway.

Thane and Garrus were my "go to" team. I took them everywhere. I love those two together. Gave them sniper rifles, I took the assault rifle, I was the damager and they were the shots. It was glorious. :D I want Thane back, so I can get him and Garrus back together. I loved Wrex and Garrus in ME. It was nice to find someone who could fill Wrex shoes. And what big shoes those were. ;)

@Gnas You misunderstood. Game mechanics wise, Thane owns as a squadmate. He has insame weapon damage bonus, warp and a sniper rifle. What I mean from his backstory perspective, he is a lone wolf kind of character, who is much more likely be more effective (trained to be more effective) acting without someone to watch at his 6 and will accomplish more that way.

Anyway. It's moot point at the present :). I hope they'll write him well into the story, no matter the role :).

@Caprichosa: that's a really cool cause :) . Too bad I'm nowhere near :(.

He was an assassin so, yes, lone wolf. On other hand, Shepard gave him a purpose. So, his path changed once he met Shepard. Romance or not, I do not see him as returning to his previous lifestyle. He has a reason to fight now.

There was a post in another thread that I agreed with.

The jist was - Thane's illness moreso than his religious assassin angle pushed him into cliche territory.  His illness being the catalyst for his want to repent, but his illness is / was unecessary.  The guy has a good enough reason to want to change his debil ways (stop playing that foosball, it's the debil!) without being terrminally ill.  Agree? Disagree?  General thoughts?

Also - Thane's biotics.  I always love speculation about how / why Thane has biotics.  Kolyat doesn't, nor does Feron. So, just how did Thane get his biotics?  Other than the writers saying, 'Let's give him warp and throw, that'd be cool!'.

Also, Thane!

I just took it to mean he wanted to see a desert, because he either has never been to one, or it has been many years since he has seen one.

Same here. Plus, I think the Drell home planet was desert-like? They do like their arid environment.

I also always just used Garrus and Thane as squad members. >> It was amazing.

And, kinda late for the gift talk... Actually, that is intriguing. :) My Shepard would probably get him some more of that tea/coffee/chocolate/whatever is in that cup he always has at his desk, since he seems to like it so much. Or some sniper upgrades. :P

I have no idea what he would get for my Shepard though. Him just being there is enough. :3

So, it looks like Thane will be alive at least for part of ME3. You can catch a flash of him in one of the previews.

I really doubt Thane won't be active in some capacity in ME3. And I doubt he'll be dead or horrifically ill, either (anymore than he is at the end of ME2); if there's supposed to be a confrontation between LIs, it wouldn't make sense for one to be asleep the entire time. Though it would make for one hell of an interesting conversation.

Kaidan: But I love you!
Thane: *continues to be unconscious*
Kaidan: ...

We don't have much information concerning drell and biotic abilities. For the drell we have so far in the game, it is 1/3 that have biotics. My guess is that it is about just as common as biotic humans as they have a similar physiology.

In fact, I think that because Thane has biotics, that that was one of the reasons the hanar chose him to be trained as an assassin.

Also, I would have liked the Thane the same regardless of whether or not he was deathly ill. He has a lot of 'drama' in his life. I agree, in that I don't think Keprel's syndrome was necessary on top of that (but of course I would say that! Posted Image)

@Hellbound555 HAHAHA. That's... what, Thane, Nihlus, and that eclipse merc who got shot up at Miranda's loyalty? I saw a similar giggle inducing sketch of Garrus, Thane and Jacob (if I recall correctly) stripping as 3 different Shepards catcalled on the sofa. Might find it later :P.

And that cure banner collab is awe-inspiring :).
