@Aello87 Oh, I definetly agree that it's a sh*tty prospect.

Sometimes I wonder what the heck is wrong with me for not seing the inherent awesomeness of Tali, or Garrus as a romance prospect. Life would be so much easier. -_-;

@JECWSU Bad writing is subjective. It's not what the guy writing Thane was going for. You think that his arc sucks, and I respect that. I may even agree with you once the game comes out. Still, you not liking it does not mean that Bioware doesn't/didn't care. Do I wish that Thane had gotten more attention? God YES. But I think dipping too low into despair before the game comes out is silly.

That being said, where's the gush in this thread? Where's the happy!? :D I'm getting a "Entropy wins, Entropy always wins...." vibe here. It saddens me...

I guess it would be much easier if we liked Garrus, Tali or Liara more. They seem to be the lucky ones.

It's hard to remain optimistic when Bioware hasn't given us anything, and the files make it seem much worse. Even though some of these things may have changed I have to wonder why they were put in there to begin with.

I just don't want to get my hopes up only to be very disappointed.

If you only knew. There's simply too much of so called sh*tty prospect.  Same here but sadly they didn't pull the strings in such a way that Thane did.

Ok that  made me laugh.

We'll just have to wait and see what they do in ME3 but I do get the impression that if you weren't in ME1 you're not returning "full force".  Which of course makes no sense.

And I have 1 PT for Kaidan where Shep stays loyal.  But I have several where I had romanced Kaidan in ME1 and have now met Thane and well....  Besides, two years plus is a long time and even though Mr. Alenko is all hight and mighty on Horizon, my Shep never got a chance to ask him what (or who!) he's been doing in that time!

I just want some closure, and if Thane dies, and is poorly written and the story sucks, then we are DEFINITELY creating a sob in the corner group.  AFTER we rage on the galaxy.

And speaking of...we need some badass on this page!

Basically this.  The leak combined with no information beyond developer word to prove information from said leak is flawed.  People are getting down and frustrated and it's understandable.  I am too.  There is a chance fears might be realized and it's not a good feeling.

Here's my opinion on the whole ME2 character's being shafted thing.  It's not the amount of ME2 chararcters that was the problem, it's that we were made to care about all of them to the extent that we do now.  There are ways to make an audience care about a character, but not become too attached to them, and I think this is where the stumbling block occured.  (Not to mention oversights in the planning process.)  Now any character that the development team decides to "sideline" is going to get immediate ire from somewhere.  This is natural for having such a huge cast and a serious story but there are better ways to handle it.  Especially since the ME games have established that "choices matter".

Anyway, I don't think pitchforks and torches will be appropriate until after March 6th when we all get 100% on what's happening.Image IPB

I understand. That leak...Ugh, I hope we'll be getting something out of all the woe. (Possible tweaks to the script and all that...)

Very True. Thank you for the welcome~ :)

_____

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't a little scared. I've read so much fanfiction since ME2, I'm starting to think I may have forgotten who Thane really is. What I mean is, I'm scared that he won't be as awesome in-game as he is in my glorious HEAD-CANON. Ridiculous, right? ^.^ (ugh...I need a life...)

If Thane does die (God forbid...), at least it'll give me a great reason to try the "Shepard Dies" ending, I hadn't quite found a good one yet.(If there is one such ending, of course.... Bah, who am I kidding, of course there is.:P)

I'm just hoping there is some good dialogue when Kaidan finds out that my paragon Shep is cheating on him for Thane. I hope to make a ME2 profile where Kaidan isn't involved in this, so I like to keep my options open until March.

Welcome Ellise and Aello87. Nice to meet you.

Yeah, I'm getting that entropy feeling, too, so I'm just going to wait until Kim adds a new dialogue before I post something substantial. I've already said everything I want to and since I agree with everything everyone has been writing these last two pages I won't repeat it.

I'll be joining that club too. All this talk of the spoilers now has me really depressed.

There hasn't been much updating with those kind of fanfics. But I did read the latest chapter of "At the Violet Hour."

I'm thinking of writing a Thane/Shep fanfic myself, but I've got too many incomplete stories on my mind. Image IPB

I noticed there hasn't been to much. I also read the next chapter of "At the Violet Hour" That's one of my favorites along with "For such Loss". I wonder if she'll continue after ME3.

Shepards, the Thane thread needs some humor. TO THE PLOT ARMOR!

Carson: Finally! I came up with the best idea, and I've been waiting until the right moment to try it out. >:D
Thane: Should I be worried for you? You're putting on armor, and a helmet. You never wear your helmet.
Garrus: When Carson puts on his helmet, it's a bad sign for everyone.
TIM: Allow me to explain. I decided that it would be a good way to ensure your survival if I added the plot armor to... your armor. Apparently, Carson took this as a challenge.
Carson: Challenge accepted, Timmy! Saren, you got the sparkle shooter?
Saren: It's equipped to the Cain, as you wanted. *grins* I can't believe you're letting me shoot you with a nuke.
TIM: I believe it.
Thane: *facepalms* I suppose you're free to test out your new plot armor however you please, but if you don't mind, I'd rather not be around for this one. I'll be over there... saying a prayer for you.
Saren: Well, that's a nice sentiment, but I'm getting trigger-happy. Brace yourself, Carson! *shoots at him*
Carson: *is blown across the room, which is now filled with sparkling rainbow fireworks, and crashes into Thane*
Thane: *knocked over, lands down with Carson on top of him* You couldn't wait until I was out of the room? >_>
Saren: Nope. Carson, you all right?
Carson: *takes off his helmet* Never better, man! That was awesome! :D What a ride!
TIM: Excellent. The plot-armor armor was a brilliant success.
Thane: You call this a success? You've only given him more reason to do these things. You've encouraged it.
TIM: I never said my idea was crazy-proof, just danger-proof for crazy Shepards. ;)

Way new to this but...

I love me some Thane, that being said I did romance Kaidan in ME1.
I really hope that Thane has a decent part in ME3, I wont be happy if hes just in one mission.

Also I refuse to read the spoilers :), I really don't want to ruin anything. It is really really tempting though, and I'm sure its not the finished product anyways.

As for Kaidan he should be the one asking my Shep to forgive him for being such a ****. And this is just my pinon but I would like to see some kind of dialoug with Shep, Thane, and Kaidan.

Poor Thane...Much too sane for his own good.

Sparkle shooter + Cain?  I approve. B)

On a slighly unrelated note, I've never heard the name Carson before. Carson...I love it. Sounds great with a british accent.

Yeah, Thane has more sanity in him than most of my Shepards combined, I think. Image IPB

I've seen Carson as a last name before, but it can be a first name too, and there are a few alternate ways to spell it (there's a character in SW:TOR named Kira Carsen, so I'm sure my Carson will have a fit that she stole his name). I have a whole past planned out for him, and he actually chose the name himself when he was still in the gangs on Earth. He was in Carson City, Nevada for a while, so that's where he got it from. The fact that it rhymes with "arson" makes it even more appropriate.

Carson: A british accent, huh? Well, I can imitate voices really well. *tries for a british accent, gets a Sean Connery accent instead* Close enough. I guess it works best for movie quotes.
Thane: ...I suggest you run and hide now, or else your fangirls will find you.
Carson: This is a Thane thread. If they come for me, I'll use you as my human-- I mean, drell shield. ;)

No fanfic, just short dialogues. Story writing takes longer, and I have a lot to do already (writing my first novel), so I don't really have time for fanfics, except the DA contest. The dialogues normally take about 20 minutes to come up with an idea and type it out, which makes it easier for me.

Hi!

I haven't read the script either, it is tempting... But something tells me I'll loose my sunny disposition if I do.

**Still clings to hope**

The first Shep I plan on running through is also a "cheater". I'm looking forward to seeing if Bioware'll blow my head-canon apart.

Plus, I'm pretty sure I'll mess something up on my first playthrough (Grunt for Fireteam Leader anyone?), so I might as well get some extra drama out of it.

After that I'll go with my single-in-ME1, Kaidan-nuking Shep.

Then I'll choose which one I like best and do my "Perfect" Metagamed run. And then...I'm doing Garrus.B)

But yes, we're all hoping Thane gets the love he deserves in ME3.

I've always liked the earthborn backround. The Carson,Nevada namesake is genius. Wish I'd thought of that...

Hum...Now I'm tempted to make a Helmets-are-for-derps-badass-psycho Shepard. Can you believe I've never rolled a renegade before? Shameful, that's what it is....<_<

Also, someone needs to take that plot armor off of Carson, otherwise, no one will live to see ME3. Not even the reapers.

I've read the spoilers. Image IPB I don't think the version I saw was complete, but I like what I've found out so far. Even the Thane spoilers. Others have read them and not been happy about it though, so I'm not sure how much my excitement for ME3 helps around here.

You should definitely play Renegon, at least. I think Carson's morality points actually come out closer to that than full Renegade. He's really a nice guy to his friends, like the way he helps Thane stop his son from going down a path of crime similar to the one they both grew up in, stands up for Tali at her trial, etc. He just also happens to be a badass psycho Vanguard who headbutts krogan and kicks mercs out of windows. All in a day's work.

We'll make sure Carson doesn't go too overboard in the plot armor. ;) He does need to save some Reapers for ME3, or the epic finale won't be so... epic.

I wouldn't place my pinky into the spoilerland or push Blasto out of it's confy zone, but usualy it all comes down to "the budget" and things like that. They brought new characters into the game and with them a big neon sign " newcomers emerge", so it seems logial to me that in such a case certain characters need to make way for "new kids on the block".

Well...to get new fans it's OK and understanding        but why old fans have to pay for that?
New companions in ME2 and only ( not too good) coming back olders ( from ME1) was partly done becouse of new players. Now in ME3 they will do something similar becouse of " new" fans also. Do we really need a new companions? New  " Kelly"-Samantha, Vega, this EDI thing? We could be happy with ME1&ME2 crew. In ME1 we had  6 companions and only two of them could die ( VS & Wrex) . In ME3 we had 10 perma companions and 2 DLC. All of them could die of course, but if Shepard had to survive she/he needed  two of them alive. So at last there would be 6 perma companions for ME3 ( 4 from ME1 if You killed Wrex) and 2 from ME2. It would be enough I think. BioWare should remember, that ME is a Trilogy and to be honest I don't care, if someone can't understand ME universe if  ME3 is first game for them. Maybe Devil May Cry, Prince of Persia or Legacy of Kain isn't good example, but in this series, there wasn't too much care about " new" players. If  player wanted to know Dante/Prince/Raziel/Kain stories he/she had to play previous games. So it looks like " old" players have to resign from some things in a name of " new" fans.

Aello87 wrote...
Being fairly optimistic, I think Thane fans got it kind of alright if the scripts are true. I surely wouldn't wish to be a rabid fangirl of Jacob right now that's for sure. I do feel utterly sorry for all fans of ME2 characters, be it LI or not...as much as I'll try to enjoy in all the other goodies that ME3 will bring, I'll also feel like there's this little piece of the puzzle missing that would make everything so much more grand ( when it comes to ME2 characters and LI's).

Don't know if scripts are true, but also after a few not so nice things from BioWare with previous games I lost a little faith in them. It's a reason I don't belive, that we shouldn't care about spoilers becouse it's old version or something like that. I think, that a lot of things from scripts are in game, maybe little different ( while I saw two version of " crisis" with Kaidan), but still they exist. There's a lot of think I dislike and in my opinion aren't necessary ( i.e dislike Joker/EDI plot).
I think that ME3 will be a good game, but I doubt I will be happy with relationships. While I know, it's not a " date sims",  friendship/love was a part of story and I would prefer to have good " quality" write and good ending. Right now Im dissapointment by Jacob/Jack/Miranda even I don't care about romances with them, Kaidan-it's not for me anymore, Garrus and Tali looks like BioWare desperatly tried to make them " cool" and " important" for story, Joker is silly ( poor man), Vega is like teenager and Thane...well If things will really looks like in leaked script for the others romances, Im even glad with end of this "love story"..we always could get something worse

Well bugger.

I've already discussed this with JECWSU, but it seems that the Xbox magazine preview is quite in order with the leaked script. Unless my friend pulled a prank on me...though I'll go check it out myself.

Those who were wondering if Thane has only one mission, well...you already guessed. Fingers crossed that's not the case though.

I'm glad my crazy Shepards can bring some happiness to this thread. :)

No worries about Thane. Carson would only use him as a shield from fangirls. When it comes to Reapers, batarian slavers, mercs, or anything else that might attack, Carson is pretty much the human shield. He'll charge in front of just about anything and punch/shoot/grenade/Cain it, kind of like an in-your-face psycho biotic version of what Garrus does when Shep is being attacked. I can't wait to get him an omni-blade.

Carson: So now I'm a "boy who loves playing with sparkles"... o_o; That doesn't make me sound so threatening.
Thane: It shouldn't concern you. I'm sure the galaxy knows your reputation. The officers on the Citadel must have recognized you. They wouldn't let us in last time, remember?
Saren: No, actually, they didn't recognize him. He complained that his name was printed too small on the wanted poster.
Thane: ...You're serious? *facepalm*
Carson: It was a joke! I saved that city two years ago. Who would have thought they'd really kick me out for a car chase?
TIM: Because the same thing happened in Vegas?
Carson: Yeah, we'll see which planets don't want me back when the Reapers come. :P
Thane: It is better to have him on our side, sparkles and all, rather than fighting against us. ^^;
