I'm a Kaidan fan and on my first and only playthrough so far, it was sooo hard to keep away from Thane and not romance him and be faithful to Kaidan. But I'm already planning on my next playthrough when I can truly become Thanes Siha :)

I really thought that it was going to be hard to stay away from Garrus since I wished he could have been a LI in ME1. But in ME2 he became my best friend so I just couldn't. But then Thane comes out and I can't stop myself from liking him more and more each time I talk to him. Oh I can't wait to romance him!

I'm kinda upset about going back to the alliance. I mean, in ME1 you barely did anything as an alliance operative in game before being jettisoned into Spectre status, and while Hackett threw you some quests time to time, Shepard was really more of an independent that happened to wear the colors as opposed to an operative. For me, the bond to the alliance really wasn't substantial.

In ME2 I got to like being alive in a brand new ship with lots of new toys and squadmates in ME2. Yes, yes, Cerberus takes "The end justifies the means" wayy too far (Jack, and that Overlord guy) but I couldn't shake a residual sort of admiration that they were doing something about the disappearing colonies while everyone else, for one excuse or another, was standing around wringing their hands.

So now every time I see the Normandy decked out in Alliance colors, I frown. I hope we get some chance to work with Cerberus in ME3, and that it doesn't just come down to - "Oh, of course they were evil all along!" Because if I recall correctly, a running theme of ME2 was to show both sides of Cerberus, and there were several people on the squad and the Normandy that talked about Cerberus in a not-terrorist-evil-space-demons sort of way.

@ Graywolf,

It's because of his coloring. He looks like a bag of skittles.

I hope that the emphasis is on being a spectre rather than her renewed position in the alliance.

I think shepard's been through too much to fall back into life in the alliance...they let her down badly in 2. Although Shepard's going to be with the alliance in ME3 I really hope it's on her own terms.

I felt so betrayed when the council and the Alliance turned their back on me. I didn't like working with Cerberus at all but I felt that it was necessary since they were the only ones who believed in the Reapers and the only ones willing to help me out. But I still hated it everytime someone would mention that now I was working with Cerberus. What I would say or think if the conversation option wasn't available was "Cerberus is working for me unitl I decide when I'm through with them!"

But I'm glad to go back to the Alliance because that's where Shepard began and that's who she is truly loyal to. I hope Thane sticks around once you're back with them.

Welcome to the thread mayrabgood

I will probably have one Shepard that would stay with the Alliance. I don't like the way they turned their backs on you either. I didn't mind working with Cerberus, because it was the only way to stop the collectors. The rest of my Shepards will probably stay spectors or maybe go off on their own if that's an option.

I used Thane the most in group makeup and I just respected the character's personality and sense of Honor. I don't want him to die, though I understand the reason why, I just want to be able to use him, if even for one mission...(which sucks by the way)

Nice to see another gamer that wants to keep Mr. Krios alive and well - even if you haven't romanced him!  I hope Bioware sees the value in the amazing character they created.  And he is a total BAMF with that sniper rifle.  Saved my butt (sorry Shep's butt )  quite a few times!!

Ugh, I need to get my thumbs loose and fix up my playthroughs. Need three at least. One for Garrus, once for Thane (without Kaidan) and one with Kaidan just to see whatever the 'cheating' led to.

As for returning to the alliance or not, I don't think my Shep would much care. She'd be way too into the whole "getting rid of the reapers" to feel annoyed or pushed around. Unless they'd assign her to something on a remote planet without any point at all. :P

I really hope my Shepard has the chance to fight by their side again

These comments about Skyrim's character creator don't sound good... I thought it was supposed to be much improved from Oblivion's? I can work with Oblivion's, but still, an improved character creator is one of the things I was most looking forward to when I get around to playing Skyrim (meaning, when they make a GOTY edition with DLC included and bugs fixed, like the Oblivion I bought last year).

Can't quite remember, what is Thane's opinion on the collector base? I seem to remember that at the mission, he says that it would be worth keeping the base, but when you are back on the Normandy, it is wise to destroy it, as the Illusive Man does not have the wisdom to use it.

And glad to see I am not the only one who put the pattern as green stripes for my Sihas! :D

I've never tried it myself, but I know he voices his concern when you consider keeping it. (Unlike, say, Garrus, who voices his concern when you consider destroying it.)He says that he dedicated his life killing those who deserve and that it's best that they not become what they hate.

This is almost exactly what he says. It's also the line that made me realize the Shepard I had originally wanted to pair him with, Katherine, was far too Renegade for him. That sort of reasoning would have completely thrown her off. She doesn't hate Cerberus (in fact, she loved working with them), and does not believe that using the enemy's technology against them is wrong. She can't be with someone who has too many morals.

Natalie is a much better fit for Thane. She wants to do the right thing, but she worries that there might be no way to defeat the enemy if they keep eliminating possible advantages for being immoral. Although she didn't feel right about keeping the base, she was ready to do it until Thane speaks up and changes her mind. It's going to be a turning point for her, when she decides to save humanity "without sacrificing the soul of their species" to do it.

JECWSU wrote...

Did you keep the collector base? Did anybody keep the collecor base?

I always destroy it myself.

A majority of my Shepards keep the base, actually. Only a few of them feel bad/unsure about it. My MainShep gave it to TIM as a thank you present for bringing her back to life. All of my Shepards are a mix of Paragon and Renegade, with most of them leaning more towards Renegade. Katherine's mostly Renegade, Natalie's Paragade, and MainShep's a fun mix (Paragade in ME1, Renegon in ME2) - just to name a few examples.

How does everyone feel about going back to the Alliance?

I'm not happy about it, but I'm going to enjoy the game so much that I'm not going to let it bother me. I really liked working with Cerberus in ME2 though, so much more than dealing with the Alliance and Council in ME1. I have a lot of Shepards who feel completely betrayed by those two groups, and come ME3... well, not to post spoilers, but they've got a lot more coming from all sides.

I was reading through Thanes Dossier again and I have made a decision. If Thane dies, which I don't think he will then either as Shep holds him... cause she will, or as she finally walks away... cause she'll have to. I want to have this part of his letter voiced over.

I love you. If all else whispers back into the tide, know this for fact. By grace given me by the Goddess Arashu, I bid her divine protection to you, my warrior-angel, my Siha, to succeed in your destiny. To light your path through the coming darkness. To give you hope, when all seems lost.

I will await you across the sea.

This will be the epicness I have been waiting for forever. This needs to happen. It has to... unless he doesn't die and then woohoo! Plus this way even if Keythe can't read the letter for us we still get something.

All my Sheps destroy the base, cause they all hate it when their team mates are dissapoint in them, and I doubt any of the Sheps will call themselves Alliance again. Now they are just savior of the Galaxy girls.

And Thane and Garrus are so equal as far as being my faves go that it doesn't matter who I am romancing I wish I was romancing the other. They make me want polyamouras relationships just so I don't have to miss one.

I wonder what they would have a problem with Thane. Although it really isn't any of their business.

If at all possible, and I have no idea if this being considered, because I have tried to stay from spoilers, But I think Shep and group with play Cerebus and Both Alliance off each other and choose from what shakes out from the frackus..
just guessin though... I am real rusty on my ME an ME2 (played both on the 360 but I am toying with the idea to bring them to my pc (yes I am ok with Origin, I 've used steam and even Bioware has a limited access to what I have so oh well whoopee.)Image IPB

As do I. Mostly because I love getting a rise out of the Illusive Man, those kinds of opportunities don't come around twice, galaxy be d@mned.:D Seriously though, we can afford to be idealists in ME, but if this were real

life, humanity could not take a chance like that, it's crazy.

That's how I feel about it too, n.1 priority is kicking reaper butt. I'll support the Alliance as long as they don't start
interfering with my business . She would have a few choice words for Alliance command though.<_<

Skyrim's CC is great if you're human, don't worry. You can make gorgeous ladies (and gents). Elves, however, have always been on the ugly side in TES, so it was not unexpected. Modding fixes all that, though. :)

That's good to hear about Skyrim. In Oblivion, my first character was a Redguard (...that's what they're called, right?) and it took me two hours to fix him. I like my characters to be attractive when I'm staring at them for 100+ hours.

My Shepards would have a few choice words for the Alliance and Council too. >:D I hope we have the chance to tell them off or brag about being right at least once in ME3.

By the way, I just saw the heart in your Thane banner move for the first time. xD I thought my eyes were playing tricks on me.

That letter...Image IPB I've always wondered why they gave it to us in LOTSB.(Not that I'm complaining.^.^) Surely if his

death was scripted they would have saved it for ME3...right? It would have been the cherry on top, so to speak. If

anything, it gives me hope that Thane can be cured, or at the very least live long enough to see the grand finale.

Yep, Redguards. :)  One of my guy friends picks a preset at random, puts a beard on him, and calls it a day. I can't fathom how he does it. -_-

xD It is a bit twitchy. It animated faster originally, but it was migraine inducing, so I toned it down a bit. ^_^

I don't think I would be able to do it. There are some presets in Mass Effect or Dragon Age with a good enough face shape that I could probably just change the color (skin/hair/eyes), and DA2 has such great-looking default that I might actually use them, but Oblivion... nope, I've got to change them. XD Even with older games like KOTOR, it's strange when I absolutely must use a preset and not a character that looks exactly like what I have planned. I played Mass Effect first, so I have been spoiled by greatness.

And if ME3 doesn't let us tell off the Council, at least I'll have my dialogues. ;)

Carson Shepard: I'm not working for these people again. I refuse!
Thane: I thought you already accepted by taking their ship?
Carson: Well, I'm stubborn, but I'm no fool. The whole planet was on fire, and I'm not going down with it.
Saren: It's a shame what they've done to the ship when we were locked up. The old paint job was better.
Thane: Really? It looked like someone took a can of spray-paint to it.
Carson: Guilty! Now, what happened to that paint? I need to write "Jailbird" on the ship again.
Thane: *facepalms* Carson, you have an incoming message from the Council. Please, don't--
Carson: *turns on communications* Councillors. Image IPB
Turian Councillor: Carson. Image IPB ...Wait, is that Saren? Saren's alive?
Thane: Our cover has been blown. I'm not surprised. *to Saren* You could have left the room.
Saren: And the Council could have done some research. I was in jail overnight with Carson, and no one found out?
Turian Councillor: Never mind that now! We need your help against the Reapers.
Carson: Ah yes, "Reapers." I thought you dismissed those claims.
Turian Councillor: Carson, this is serious! They're attacking the Citadel! Saren, talk some sense into him!
Saren: Can it wait? I'm in the middle of some calibrations. *turns off comms*
Carson & Saren: *brofist*
Thane: ...You do know my son lives on the Citadel?
Carson: Yeah, I'm turning the ship around. I just like to watch 'em panic.
