one of the people you take with you to the final battle always falls
off the platform. It depends on what order you choose them in- the
person on the right's icon will fall, that means you have to choose the
person you don't want to fall, first.   

and then don't die because that resists what side they are on.

Actually, I died because I wasn't paying attention and Thane did stay on the right side, so I guess you ust have to mke sure he's still there after you reload before continuing.

Just to add my experience with which squadmate appears on the right side (for catching purposes), it seems to be random. I've had it happen different ways, with either the first or second squadmate chosen being on the right side, and yes, getting Shepard killed can reset them. But not always. Sometimes, you need to try it again. Also, in case you guys are not aware, the only way to have Thane catch your Shepard when she jumps into the Normandy is to have the other squadmate die in the final battle. Thane is last on the list of squadmates to catch Shepard, so he'll only do it if there's no one else around. I did a lot of suicide mission testing, and in this scenario, I was lucky enough to have an unloyal Miranda because I failed the persuasion (not enough Paragon/Renegade points).

So, you know what this means. Someone on Natalie's squad has to die. Who will it be, now?

That's hilarious. xD I guess I just think of tea, not necessarily green, because Thane is such a calm guy. (Has anyone here seen Avatar: The Last Airbender? Any of you remember that the calm Uncle Iroh was always drinking tea? Yeah, that's my reason.) As for ice cream, I just chose mint chocolate chip because it's Natalie's favorite, so that would be her first choice to introduce him to.

Maybe a little bit. I just imagine that he is drinking tea. I actually like green tea, and I really like green tea ice cream so my shepard would let Thane try it. I think he would love it. If it is tea then it is probably some kind of tea they might have in the future or futuristic green tea.

If it's alcohol than the ice cream is rum raisin.

Did it ever bother anyone that Thane has this perfect memory,and will never really forget? I've heard some people complain about it because it means he will never forget his wife. I think it's pretty sad that some have an issue with that. It doesn't and never did bother me.

The perfect memory thing doesn't bother me at all. Of course, I'm playing a Shepard who is just a character I created, not a videogame extension of myself like many others like to do, so I understand how that perspective can change feelings about it (if that is even the case). Natalie Shepard has loved others before Thane, and although she has never been married, she knows how it is to lose those people and then find someone else that she can fall in love with again. If the perfect memory flashbacks happen in awkward situations, she might have mixed feelings about that, but ultimately, she would just laugh it off as one of the funny things that happen when you romance a drell.

I would have thought with those leaked files you pretty much know most of it. Maybe not. Still I wish they would give us somehthing.

My Shepard has never been an extention of myself. That's one reason why I don't understand why people have such a problem with his perfect memory or the fact that he was married and has a son. Elizabeth would definelty understand that sometimes those flashbacks happen. Although she would probably make this face it it happened in front of her mother.

Especially if it was something personal. Then she would take a few minutes to calm down and then she would probably laugh it off as well and by tomorrow she would have forgotten and hopefully so would her mother.

Oh, that would be hilarious if a flashback happened in front of Shep's mother. It wouldn't be a problem for my Earthborn, Natalie. She has no family in-game, but if we're going by my dialogues where all the Shepards know each other, the closest comparison would be a flashback happening in front of Carson (who is basically like a godfather to most of them), and he would just laugh about it.

I thought Thane would be the type to drink a drell version of wine, rather than hard liquor. If not... well, then Carson will be sad that Thane never joins him when he's having fun/drowning his sorrows/drinking until he can sleep. Or maybe Carson is the reason why Thane drinks.

I only have on Shepard who is a spacer for Thane. The other two are colonist and earthborn. It would never happen in game, but it could be funny in fanfic or a comic if Thane did that in front of Hannah Shepard.

I think I have found myself pick something green once or twice because of Thane, and green tea ice cream is good. I really like it. I know everyone probably won't but I think it's good. I've only had in Japan though.

Ugh, it's with mixed feelings I'm starting up Mass Effect 2 again. Games' great, but after having played it 15 times you... well. xD

Realised I only got 2 save files (only one's done) and I don't even remember who's who and what I've done in them. xD Even less which is Thane's.

Only Margurite has family, which she never sees even though she has a good relationship with them. (Earthborn, and I kinda screwed with Canon to create her). I would love to find out how her brother would react to this. With violence, probably. But doing this in front of Hannah? That would be AWESOME! I would love to see that.

And personally I've never picked out anything green because of Thane. I swear! Everything I own is black! Well, almost.

@kirasdream - the commercial was for Hornitos tequila. I agree that he's drinking something VERY smooth. And not in large quantities, just something he can sit and sip.

Bi in real life. Admittedly selectively so but still, the fact I realised this from a video game character amused me greatly.
I didn't mean to imply that romancing the same sex as your real life persona made you gay/bi, just commenting that it pointed the fact I fell into that category.

As for the male perception of Thane I have found it is mostly meh purely because the friendship path with him (and the only one available to M-shep) is overshadowed by Garrus in the bromance aspect. You've also got the issue with him being only loosely tied to the plot that the majority of the ME2 cast suffers from to contend with. Overall I found him a far deeper character overall but he was unfortunately developed quite heavily on his romance. Which is really another problem with the ME2 cast. If you don't romance, dialogue dries up.

That all being said though, I'm a big fan of Thane because of his grit. He's a dying man, who has lost a great deal throughout his lifetime and yet he still managed to dig himself out of that ditch and even resolves to help out the galaxy before he reaches the end. That takes a lot of willpower.

I also agree with the comment about how the new squad to ME2 had severely lacking dialogue choices.  Garrus's were awful unless you romanced him.  So it's too bad that they didn't seem to develop relationships unless it was a romantic relationship.  I better have some more dialgue options wit every squaddie in ME3 and my Thane better be back for some curin' and lovin'!

I'm glad you guys liked the dialogue. Also, that screenshot of Thane behind cover with his shades on is awesome. I've watched the scene a lot in my suicide mission playthroughs, but I don't have that alternate outfit.

Oh, I've messed with the canon to create some of these Shepards, and I justify it by saying that it would be strange to have all of them in the same universe with some having near-identical pasts. My Carson is technically not lying to say he's an orphan... he just leaves out the part about being a "self-made" orphan.

That's one of the reasons why Carson likes Thane, despite their completely opposite personalities. He sees Thane as a good father, doing what he can to keep his son safe and stop him from going down a dangerous path. Thane was trained from a very young age to be an assassin, but Kolyat didn't grow up with that lifestyle, and it doesn't need to be that way for him. Carson grew up killing too (and I can just imagine him bragging to Thane about how he made his first kill at a younger age), but it was necessary for his survival, and he was sort of thrown into his crazy life rather than choosing it for himself in the beginning. Something that's normal and okay for him could easily get a less-experienced person killed in the attempt, like Kolyat trying to be an assassin. I think they both want better, less dangerous lives for their kids.
