Oh. Nope. It's a screenshot from the new preview, which is about the Multi-Player option. You can be a Drell.

I didn´t realize he was responsible for the one-hour masacre. Why did he do it?
And another thing. He refuses to be on the donor list. Shouldn´t he change his mind when entering a romance for Shep? If I where Shep Id excext him to figth his disease all he can.

Bioware never tell us why he did it, but if I had to guess I would say it had a lot to do with the people that killed his wife.
Thane refused to be added to the list before he met and entered a romance with Sheprad. Unless Bioware allows us to discuss it with him in ME3 we won't know if he has changed his mind now that he and Shepard are in a relationship.

For a second there, I really thought we were getting a screenshot...;_;

I'm sure Thane feels he has very good reason for not being on that list, having something new to live for doesn't change the past, or your moral reasoning. It's probably the classic, "Someone deserves that lung more than I do". Hopefully, nothing that can't be fixed by the magic of a paragon/renegade *persuasion* check. Or a well placed blow to the head.

Is it just me or are we given zero info on the one-hour massacre? (Other than it's name and that it was on Omega.) It's annoying. I want to know why he chose to blitzkrieg it. Didn't he say that Omega takes care of itself? If it was his wife's killers that he got to, shouldn't it have lasted more than one hour? He did say he lingered on them. ...I suppose that by his usual standards, one hour could be considered lingering...

He probably did take longer with the ones that actually killed his wife, but there could have been more people involved. That could be who he went after on Omega.

I'm not sure if Bioware will ever tell us what happened. I wish they would because I would really like to know.

So I am here to beg for pm'd gamer tags. I want to play with people who I actually care if they get shot, not random randomnites from the nether world.Pm me! I am not an awesome player, and this will be my first MP experience but I can play on Vetran in SP and sometimes I even move up to Insanity to see how long it takes for Husks to wipe the floor mith me.

You know hon, this is exactly what I was thinking. We all really need to start setting up our MP teams so that we're ready when the demo comes out. Somehow though, I think if we got together in MP, we'd end up with an army of Drell!

I'm hoping that the MP will be cross-platform, so we can all play together, no matter whether we're on PS3, PC, orXBOX. I doubt it, but I wish it will be.

I usually play on Vetran or Hardcore,, and usually as a Sentinel but I just started my Insanity playthrough as an Infiltrator. So I'm kinda pissed that I have to wait half the game to get Thane. I need my drell to protect me! Dear gods I die a lot. Thane! Where are you when I need you?! I've rage-quited three time so far, and I'm still on Freedom's Progress. Aargh!!!!! *pulling hair out in frustration*:pinched:

I'm on a PS3, and I'll be playing a Sentinel, since I get the good mix of soldier and biotic abilities. I will likely suck, cause I don't play MP normally, but I'll definitely be playing it to try to get the best ending for my Thane PT. Fleshdress I'll PM you just in case we can play cross-platform. Friera, can I PM you too, please?

So yeah, I need to beg for MP teammates too.  Please! I want to play with people I know, too.

I was wondering. I have read one of my first fanfics ever. And I came to wonder wether or not Thane can be seriously smooth with women. Is he good at seducing? Like when he works as an assassin...

If there are more PS3 players here, please PM me! We could be the "Ultimate Drell Team" or something *laughs*

I think he would be, now. Before he met Irikah he wouldn't have been. Spending his formative years training wouldn't have left much time for girlfriends and he wouldn't have developed many romantic interpersonal skills. After Irikah though, when he was older and had more experience, then yes, he would definitely be a smooth man.

I also think of Thane as being very smooth with Shepard in some of their more intimate and playful scenarios. (No, I do not mean sex, I mean emotionally intimate). My head-canon FemShep Margurite wouldn't mind playing on occassion. ^_^

Granted, he probably would have had training to imitate it, but I've always equated "smooth" with honest romantic intentions, which putting the moves on a mark would most definitely have not been. <_<

Yeah, we need more PS3 player. We already have two people! We need more UDT members!

I have a PS3 but I've never once used the thing for online multiplayer, to be honest I'm not sure how.I'm also waiting for confirmation regarding how galaxy at war is added to singleplayer. We know it affects every play-through but not whether it can be disabled or not. If not then I won't touch Multiplayer. I want bad endings to be possible, to make me feel like I earnt my perfect ending. Even if it means I screw the first play-through.
Rant aside though, I'm in if things line up.

As for Thane being smooth. Perhaps, but it would be from training and not personality. Seduction is a classic tool in an assassins arsenal after all (Not that that's a bad thing, his feelings are genuine even if his methods originally weren't), but genuine conversation with the opposite gender would be very rare. I mean, look at how he handled Irikah, his first move was to apologise at her feet. Not exactly the definition of smooth. :P

EDIT: Stop eating my paragraphs auto-correct. <_<

Delurking for a moment.  In regards to the Omega One Hour Massacre (never heard the term till this thread), but it got me thinking.

*Spoilers*

I just went back to the Shadow Broker base AFTER the SM and Arrival, with my Cate Shepard (in romance with Thane), and went to see if there were any new videos.  Sure enough, there was.  One of the last vids was of Thane on Omega, and you see him kill a few people.  Could this be related to said Massacre?  And if this has already been brought up and I missed it, please forgive me.Image IPB

*End Spoilers*

As for MP, I have never played MP before.  Hubby and I used to play Co-play with Hack n' Slash/Dungeon crawlers, and back in the 90's, a few of our friends would huddle around our old computer playing Gabriel Knight and Phantasmagoria, but was never interested in online gameplay.  ME3 is the first game I might be interested in doing that with, but I'm afraid I would probably be more of a deficit to a team than an asset.  My three favorite classes are Infiltrator, Soldier, and Engineer.  Too bad I'm such a chicken to play as a Vanguard....guess no Drell play for me...HA!
If I do end up trying the MP, would also be interested in those that are, well, not as, um, as SURE of their playing skillsImage IPB.  I'm on the xbox360, myself.

So, are most of you guys playing on PS3? I ask because there's a very slim chance I might be able to get into multiplayer a few times before I can afford a gaming PC, but there are a lot of things I need to find out first before I know if it's worth considering. I wouldn't be playing on one of my own consoles (I refuse to connect the internet to either of them, Xbox or PS3), so I guess the most important thing would be info about save files and stuff like that. I'd have to find out how that works, playing at a public place, because if anyone else would be able to use my saves/characters, I wouldn't do it. And the other thing, timezones. I can't play all hours of the night because the place would probably be closed. There's so much I would have to figure out, so much trouble... you can see I really want to join you guys. xD

Fair warning, I normally play on Casual, and when I tried Insanity just for laughs on the floating Collector platforms in the suicide mission, I lasted a grand total of seven minutes. I did better trying it again on Legion's loyalty mission with him and Tali though.

abnocte wrote...

I remember reading a post by Pacifien, the one that created this The suicide mission guide , where he explained that Thane role in the suicide mission was to hold the line. He even got a response by the dev's where they explained that Thane got "replaced" by Garrus because story-wise, Garrus held himself against 3 merc bands in Omega.

I still agree that squadmate relevance to the main plot was weak, not only that we get redundancy in their roles.

Tech specialist - Tali or Legion
Biotic                  - Samara/Morith or Jack
Hold the line     - Garrus or Thane
Escort                - well... here I think you can send anyone, but is wise to send Mordin if only because he randomly dies at the end if you don't take him with you agaisnt the human reaper....

That's interesting, Thane being the original plan for holding the line. It doesn't seem like a typical job that you would send a stealth assassin out to do. Garrus does make more sense.

The ME2 squad was my favorite of all three games. Technically, there are a lot of characters in ME1/2/3 who have little connection to the plot besides being in the right place at the right time. Their most important role is being a good addition to the team in terms of personality, giving the players a diverse set of characters so everyone will have some to enjoy. And I guess part of it is because they want to make sure players have at least one character to do these jobs, like Jack being a required squadmate while it is optional to recruit Samara. I don't think the same applies to techs though... you can sell Legion, and it might be possible to reach the required number of squadmates without recruiting Tali or Kasumi. Oh well, maybe that's why Jacob foolishly volunteers.

Ellise wrote...

Oh yeah, assassins are awesome, and they can kick serious a**, but they never strike me as team players for some reason. Kai Leng is somewhat different because of his training as a Marine, but Thane...I'm sure his first few missions with Shep were very interesting exercises in *teamwork*.Image IPB

I hadn't thought of it that way before. At the very least, three of my favorite assassins (Kai Leng included) were in the military first, sometimes as sharpshooters, and then became assassins. It does sound like Thane didn't work in groups though. I wonder how different that feels for him.

That sounds like something Thane would do. It would be nice if we had the option to try talking him into living longer, especially if romanced. I don't think Natalie would hit him though. Carson might, if he didn't have to worry about legions of Thane fangirls chasing him down.

Carson: *weilding his plot armor helmet as a weapon* It was for his own good, I swear!

@Saren - Hmmm, not sure if there is a vid on Youtube or not (wouldn't be surprised though...*grin*)
If you have a save from after the SM, and you have (and played through) LotSB, you can check out the video area where Feron is and see if you can view it. Curious though, I didn't get a change of videos in two of my other play throughs, but my Cate Shepard play through was the first one I played Arrival (played after the SM), THEN I went back to the Lair and saw the new video line up. Unsure what the trigger is. Maybe it just simply works sometimes, and sometimes...not. :P

Maybe playing Arrival is the trigger?

I don't have any DLC, so I can't check for myself. No LotSB, no Arrival, no Kasumi or Zaeed. That's why I need youtube for this stuff. :)

Ahhh!  Understood.....YouTube is good for that!  I too have used it to look at some scenes I will never be able to "play out" for my self.....just don't have the guts to try some things (some of the other romances, some evil acts, ect...).

Well... I assume you are thinking about stealth, close range assassin ( thats how the game sell Thane, after all). But Thane can use SMG and Sniper Riffles, plus he gets an insane damage bonus as you level him up.

So, even if the game doesn't actually shows us, we can assume the "Hold the line" part is pretty similar to Garrus recruitment mission, meaning team B is in advantageous defensive position while enemies attack. In such conditions you need to kill enemies as fast as you can with the minimum amout of bullets, so an experienced assassin with a sniper riffle is one of the optimal solutions.

The only problem I see with choosing Thane is that, as Ellise said, he is most likely to have never worked with other people before...

I agree with you on that, Bioware had to offer repeated roles to acomodate different ways of roleplaying.
But...
I kind of resent the insane amount of squadmates we can get ( as much as I like them ), because I felt that the main story, the one that started in ME, was put on hold because I had to play "Pokemon, recruit and evolve them all!"

Don't misunderstand me, I enjoyed ME2 a great deal but there are only two things related to the main plot ( as per my opinion):

-Protheans turned into Collectors
-Human reaper

The first has no real bearing in the story at all, the second... just this...

I consider Thane to be equally good at both, stealth kills at close-range and also long-range with his sniper rifle. It confuses me that Thane also uses SMGs, because from what I understand, it's not exactly the most appropriate weapon choice in those situations. At least, I tend to use it on my Sheps who go into battle guns blazing and wanting to shoot up everything. xD I wonder why they didn't give Thane a pistol. Doesn't he use one in cutscenes?

The squadmates best for holding the line were Garrus (because it's very similar to Omega), Zaeed and Grunt. They're all heavily armored soldier-types, so my first thought was not for Thane to be included in that group. He is high up on the list of squadmates to report in to Shepard about how well they're doing holding the line, and it shows him shooting guys from behind cover... and I'm sure that all of my favorite assassins could easily hold off an attack force by sharpshooting those guys before they even knew what hit them... but I guess it's just the way the game portrayed the best hold the line defenders, not just as sharpshooters but as the type of characters who can go into battle and take a beating, which I don't see being part of Thane's style.

Hanar husks anyone?

Oh, I know. We all loved at least one character exclusive to the ME2 squad! :) But in my case, I don't care so much about a character's importance to the plot - how much I enjoy playing with those characters is the most important thing to me. There are plot required characters that I ignore whenever they're not forced to be in my presence, and characters who have nothing to do with the main plotline that I want to stay in my squad forever because I think they're awesome.

A hanar husk would be both hilarious and deadly. I would laugh if one was attacking some guy with its zombie legs.
