I also prefer his original outfit color theme, though I do like the 'earings' on the alternate appearance. Something about alternate appearance color scheme bothers me, though. Not sure if it's the texture, color or the mix of both, but it makes me appreciate the understated elegance of the original.

I'm not even sure I'd like the developers redesign his look for 3, that outfit is just so much a part of him LOL.

And, just because I like the mix of 'spectacular' with 'omnious'

And J, I would have used it as my profile picture, but I just realised that I have uninstalled DA:O (I have that and DA2 on the xbox.) I will have to install it again. However, I am still hoping that with the ME3 profile pics, they will bring out a Thane one

Thane was by far my favorite male character in both games and probably my favorite character in general. He has an awesome back story, an amazing outlook on life, and is just an overall badass! The symbology and philosophy he uses to run his life are simply stunning and just his overall ideas are what i love about life in general. I found him a lot like myself in the being very spiritual kind of way (in no way am i any kind of assassin)

i really want to see thane's return in force for ME3 and i want to learn more about his life and see his character grow from the lone assassin to a full fledged team member. Unfortunetly with his disease i am for seeing his death i can only hope it is done in a totally awesome guns blazing kidn of way

He definately is one of the more deeper characters. And he is a very well developed squadmate. He must have at least a large cameo to play because, the way I see it, he has the most incomplete story arc out of all the squadmates. Y'know, with his keprels and his son and, of course, his siha

One of the things I enjoyed most was the conversations my Shepards would have with Thane. I enjoyed just listening to everything he had to say. I would love to know more. I will be more than dissapointed if he isn't on my squad permanantley. I always took Thane with me. It was always Thane and Garrus, Miranda, or Jack.

I am hoping we can talk to him about his treatment options, and why he refused. Maybe he will already be seeking treatment when ME3 starts. I also want to talk to him about the letter if given the option. I'm hoping he's not really upset that you read the letter. I know it was suppose to be given to Shepard after he died.

There is still a lot more they can do with Thane, and I'm looking forward to seeing what that is. Hopefully it isn't something that I'm going to hate.

I'm not sure there will be such thing as "permanent" squadmates in ME3 after all. At least that's the impression I'm getting from the hints the devs have been giving us. Casey Hudson said the following: "Tali will be able to join your team, but nothing's permanent in #ME3 - it's a story of full-scale war, with lots of twists."
There may be some sort of rotation of squadmates throughout the story. As far as I can remember, the only places we've seen the words permanent squadmates have been in media speculation and not direct quotes from BioWare devs.
So they could have an interesting way of making sure no squadmate gets left out.

I don't have a problem with that. A rotation of squadmates might be the best way to satisfy most people.

So is anyone so far actually permanent?

I don't think it's been stated but the implied core squad seems to be Kaidan/Ashley, Vega and Liara.
I think that BW might scale back the dialog of non LI characters to accommodate Shepards many romance arcs.

I believe garrus is too. But of course he could have died in the SM. Tali has been announced as a squaddie, but she wasn't specified as permanent or not. Then of course, we have seen mordin and legion being on the team in the demos. So I think hanar is right. But I still can't find anything about Thane. I wonder if it would be worth tweeting Casey like others have done?

I agree with Hanar, according to the tweets we are getting looks like the only "permanent" squad-mates are the ones that weren't on ME2. That would make things easier for Bioware from a programming perspective, so it would make sense... not so sure how it will turn out story-wise though  

I remember a recent tweet were it was stated that all M2 squadmates will return, so I take Thane is in too. But I doubt they are going to tell us anything more, Thane story-arc would be very spoilerific and I prefer to be surprised in game, wether for good or bad.

I think I heard that Garrus and Tali weren't permanent. It looks like Kaidan/Ashley, Vega and Liara are the only ones that are. I don't think Bioware has said they were permanent, but it's starting to look like they might be the only ones that are. 

How does that work with just those three? I really don't like the idea of Thane showing up for just one or two missions and then we don't see him anymore. I also don't want him just sitting around the ship doing nothing.

I hope he'll be on Shepard's side for most of the game as well. :/ Also, what 51ha said. On another note, on Keythe Farley's imdb page, it shows that he is filming Thane's voice for Mass Effect 3. ( Mass Effect 3 (Video Game) (filming) Thane Krios (voice) ) I doubt he is allowed to tell us more about it though. >.<

And indeedy! Keythe Farley is in, but it has been confirmed that all the ME2 squaddies will feature in ME3. And I am trying to stay away from spoilers Abnocte. Thane does have the most spoilerific story arc, which is why I am so damn curious about finding info on Thane.

Ashley/Kaidan, Liara and Vega may not be permanent squadmates either. They may not stay on the squad for the entire length of the game, it's a possibility. I think the reason they have been treated like core characters is because they are the only squadmates (so far) that will be in everyone's games. That is probably a big reason behind the fact that they get the alternate CE outfits too, it would be disappointing for a player who buys CE if none of the chosen characters were still alive in their game.

What I've been wondering is if you're essentially allowed to build a core team, and leave others behind/send others off to go on missions for you. Since we're at balls to the wall war, it makes little sense to keep everyone cooped up on the ship unless you're off kicking Reaper ass. I'd be cool with sending Kaidan off on a rescue mission, or dispatching Samara to lead survivors to a safe point, or having Kasumi go on an espionage assignment.

Or at certain points, you're forced to give up a permanent squaddie temporarily in order to continue.

All I know is I'm going to be pissed if I can't have my Shepard/Thane/Garrus Team Sniper at least once in game. For old time's sake.
