I decided to stop lurking and I bring two fanarts made by me.
Featuring my femShep Ren and Thane... and Thane in bodypillow form.
...yeah, okay

I am worried about the role Thane will have in ME3, did anyone try to ask devs on twitter about him?
Just so they could tell us if he dies and if we can do anything about it ;_;
I know what I'll do!!! I'll paint a thousand terrible fanart pieces and spam our devs with them several times a day until they break down from all this terribleness. I won't have anything better to do if Thane dies.

A Thane pillow would be fun.
I don't have a twitter account, and I asked if anyone else did. I don't thin anyone did.
I don't know if anyone has asked about Thane on twitter yet. I hope the developers haven't forgotten about him or think don't we don't care about Thane.
All we have ever asked for is a choice. All I really want is a decent role for Thane in ME3, a satisfactory continuation to his romance and story, and a choice to somehow save him if we can.

I have a question for those who where fan of ME1 from the start. When Thane was first introduced, did you consider him cool/awesome/hot etc at that time, or did he grew on you during the game?
I was one of them waiting impatiently for his arrival 6 months before ME2 came out. That's a long time to wait for something awesome. xD So I liked him already.

After ME1 I couldn't wait for 2 to come out but I was not visiting the forums back then so had not watched many of the trailers or seen much on it at all... I did have it on preorder though
I wasn't remotely intrigued with Thane, his character was the one that I was least interested in!! I was very very surprised to find that it pained me to keep my original Shep loyal to Kaidan. Fortunately I had another shep ready for import and she moved on with Thane.

Figured I'd crack it open and hope for the best - and was I pleasantly surprised!! I couldn't import from ME1 because i had a newer console, so I started from scratch and even from the case I thought Thane looked handsome. And of course, the minute he spoke I was a goner. His entrance is epic.
I have since recovered my saved ME1 games and I have an import where I've romanced Liara but cheated on her with Thane, and I have one where I'm loyal to Kaidan. I might replay the Kaidan one to "cheat" with Thane just to hear any potential dialogue between the two!
But I must say, I was looking forward to meeting Mr. Krios just from the picture on the cover of the game. I hadn't really seen any trailers or anything because ME1 had left such a bad taste in my mouth.
Anyway, here we are, 6 new PTs later and he's by far my favorite character. Garrus is a close second, but Thane is the best!

I liked him the minute I saw him. I thought he looked like an interesting character.
I was a little disappointed that ME1 only had one option for femShepard. While I did enjoy Kaidan I wanted more options, so I was very happy that we had three options in ME2. While I liked Garrus I loved Thane.
After I started talking to him that was it. He became my favorite LI and character out of both games.

The Mako was actually the thing that made me realize how much I loved Mass Effect. I normally quit playing a game when it gets frustrating, and I knew that when I kept wanting to play Mass Effect again even after failing countless times to kill a thresher maw in the Mako (which I cluelessly thought was a required mission), it said a lot about how much I enjoyed the plot, characters, and roleplaying my Shepard. I felt the same way about KOTOR in the beginning - interesting story, and the character conversations are great, but that battle system is like the opposite of any game I've ever played before.
As for Thane specifically, I read all the spoilers before ME2 was released, so I knew I would like him. It's rare to find an assassin that I don't like. His story interested me right from the start - everything about his life as an assassin, his training, how he tried to have a family despite how hard it was in his line of work, and the way he dealt with everything that's happened to him. It takes a strong character to handle all of that.
Plot armor?! This sounds like a job for...Cosmochyck wrote...

I agree wholeheartedly!
Carson: Oh, hell no. Leave me out of this one.
Saren: Come on, Carson. All you have to do is go into Liara's room and--
Carson: *Renegade interrupt* What kind of monster do you think I am?! >_<
Saren: ...I was going to say, "replace the plot-armored clothes in her closet with non-armored replicas, spill something on the one she's wearing so she has to change, and arrange to get rid of the stained plot armor when it goes to the laundry." Where did you think I was going with this?
Carson: Sorry. I grew up around a lot of sick people. >///> Your plan sounds good though. *rushes off somewhere*
Thane: What kind of people did Carson grow up with?
Saren: Trust me, you don't want to know.
Thane: *sees Carson running towards them* It seems the task is complete, and he's returning... with a bucket?
Saren: If I had to guess, I'd say that was paint. Oh, spirits. And after I finally got the gold to wash out of my faceplates.
Carson: Okay, I shot the extra plot armors out of airlock, and now they're orbiting a small turian colony. It's impossible to destroy them, and I couldn't think of anything better. Now we just have to wait for--
Liara: Hello, Carson.
Carson: LIARA!!! *throws the red paint on her*
Liara: Wha... what did you do that for?! D:
Carson: I, uh, wanted to see what a red asari would look like?
Saren: He's drunk. Terribly drunk.
Thane: Always.
Liara: *sighs, irritated* Well, do you have your answer now... how a red asari would look?
Carson: Yeah, kind of like a mood ring.
Liara: *facepalms, paint squishes* It's days like this that really make me consider giving you advice from far, far away, and never setting foot on the Normandy again. Or the Mako. Oh goddess, the Mako. >_>
Carson: You know, I did develop this destructive persona partly to keep people away from me. I will never understand why it doesn't seem to work on women.
Thane: Because they like your kind of crazy?
Carson: Well, I know they don't like getting all shook up in the Mako! That's where I'll hide. The Mako. >
Liara: How long will it take for all this paint to wash off?
Saren: You'll be red for about a week.
Never got to know Saren?Lyvef1re wrote...
@Saren: I never got to know Saren, owning a Ps3 and all (and thus only playing ME2) but from what I've heard he was quite a badass. I'm kindoff hoping he has some kind of reference to him in the finality of things (every other major villain is still on the playing field after all). Perhaps a role in a flashback or maybe a hallucination. etc. Kindoff getting offtopic now though.
Glad I could help.mythlover20 wrote...
And I have to say Saren, those hints at the spoilers are making me a little more at ease regarding Thane. I want to CHOOSE whether or not to save him, and/or HOW to save him. (Obviously I'm going to, anyway, but I want to explore how to do it)! And your spoilers suggest that is what I'm going to get. That makes me happy. And sleepy. But mostly happy.

I bought ME2 at the END of 2010
when it was less than 1/2 price, and it sat on a shelf, in it's plastic
packaging until probably this past August/September when I had exhausted
Dragon Age Origins and DA2.
Figured I'd crack it open and hope
for the best - and was I pleasantly surprised!! *snip*
I had a similar experience to Cosmochyck. I have never liked shooters and silly me, right up until I finished playing ME2 through the first time I thought it was just a shooter. So I didn't buy it until around last August, and it sat there until October, when I had finally exhausted DA:O and DA2 (DA:O for the 9th time on two different platforms). Lo and behold, Bioware is now my fav developer. I loved everyone (except Kaidan, the ass), especially the aliens, and Joker. The story was fantastic, the controls were rather easy for me to handle as a shooter newbie, and VA's were just brilliant.
I fell "in love,' so to speak, with Thane the minute he started waxing philosophical to my Shepard. He was just so INTERESTING! And that voice, *faint*.
And of course all this made me buy ME1 for my PC. I'm up to Virmire, and I abandoned Liara and Garrus there about two months ago. I HATE THAT F********* MAKO!

I don´t really like shooters either. But games such as Uncharted, ME and Red Dead Redemption made me change my mind. And I like third-person shooters equally to RPGs now. But I can´t do first-person shooters.. How about you?
Like deus Ex had such potensional. But I couldn´t handle it..
And like Saren said, it is difficult not to like assassins. There is something about their mysterious, stoic calm apparence which infatuates me. Even if he´s green, hehe...
For me I actually played ME2 once first as male Shep romancing Miranda. I though Thane was cool - one of my favs - but didn´t really develope a "love" for him until I forced myself to play as a female (hate female protagonist. Except in ME, apparently) to be able to romance Thane. Thats where I got addicted to him.

Everyone's just reminded me of how aweful the Mako is. I don't think I'll ever play ME1 again. Still glad I played it before ME2, else I'd never play it because despite its flaws, its worth playing through at least once.

I had a similiar issue but with the model rather then the voice. The default Shepard is way too Gears of war-esque for me. I simply can't stand the "freight train on legs" look.Nerana wrote...
I want a male Shepard but I just can't get past the voice acting of it. >.<
Also not a huge first person shooter fan. I've played a few (I didn't hate Unreal Tournament ofr whatever reason) but I generally only enjoy them as a mixed medium, such as Uncharted, Mass Effect or Mercenaries. My brother picked up ME2 on a friends recomendation and I ended up playing it upon his and subsequently obsessed over it.

Seriously though, did you see the Voice Actors Reveal? Specifically the fight between between ManShep and Vega? Shepard had this robotic, manniquin-esque "DEEERRRRP!" face and voice the entire time, even when his nose was bleeding and I assume (hope) broken.
A little emotion would have been nice, Mr Meer!

It's the whole ManShep package for me. The default is far too uncanny-valley-esque and the voice acting is just plain unemotional. ManHawke was similiar too, but he was still better than ManShep. I honestly don't know how Mark Meer got the job, or kept it. No offence meant, but I really don't like his acting in these games. I don't know many who do. Even his Vorcha were... well... kinda crap. Even if I was a bloke (I'm not) I would play FemShep just for the better acting.

Yeah, I agree. The voicing is kinda crappy. Considering BW does such a fenomenal job with the voiceactors, it is strange they chose Meer for the main protagonist.
However, I love MHawkes voice, especially the sarcastic one. I could never play DA as a female, heh. All my playthrough has been with a male protagonist.

It had nothing to do with Brosheps voice that kept me from playing a male Shep. I just couldn't get into it. I tried. I made a couple malesheps. I thought that I wouldn't mind playing a good looking guy through the game, but I just found it boring. I can't play Sheploo though. he looks too much like someone I know and that would just be too odd. lol I think it is because playing a guy though a space/sci fi/ game is just so normal and easy. It's been done way too much. playing a female though. so cool. almost like you get to be Ripley (minus only wearing a tshirt and undies please don't do that to us bioware. lol)
back to Thane. i'm stuck in ME1 land for a while. I have, like 3 femsheps still in ME1 to get through before i'm back into ME2. lol and only one of my sheps (Penny) romances Thane.

Any game that plays in first-person is more difficult for me. The perspective feels really weird, and kind of dizzying at times. x_x Besides, when my character gets all turned around after a battle or examining something, I have no idea which direction I was supposed to be going anymore. I like the Mass Effect way, where the camera follows closely behind your character. I'm going to play Deus Ex soon, so I'll see how that goes.Friera wrote...

Yeah, assassins are great.
I was worried about MaleHawke's voice too, because City Elf was my first origin in DAO, but luckily I don't remember Vaughan's voice well enough to be reminded of him. Good thing too, because I always play both genders in RPGs (my first playthrough of DAO and ME1 was with a male character - the same one, actually, which is really funny because Saren's VA plays the City Elf's dad).Verly wrote...
my DA characters have been mostly women. I can't help but hear malehawke as the rapist dushe from Dragon age city elf origin. (same voice actor) as city elf is my second favorite origin I've heard that voice way too much. now DAO I have several male wardens. Zev was my go to romance either female or male (I guess there is something about assassins lol). I am actually one of the few that really liked DA2, any only had a problem with the reused maps and the fact that Zev's romances did not transfer right into the second game. (he was not supposed to sleep with Hawke or Izzy if the romance was active).
I think I've seen mods to fix the Zevran active romance problem. I can't say how well they work though. I play on Xbox.
