Sorry to kind of sidetrack off the whole "ME2 Team" thing, I totally agree with you guys about how they've kinda pushed aside developed characters but I'm watching Hellboy for the first time ever, it's a pretty good movie so far.

But I swear Bioware got Thane's appearance idea from "Abe" in that film. Seriously.

Look familiar to anyone? :P

They did.
The developers said that  Abe Sapien was a good reference when creating Thane. It's in an article about Thanes creation.

I honeslty don't know what's wrong with Bioware. If they can manage to work in a story for Tali and Garrus then they should have been able to do it for the rest of them.
No one asked them to give us so a twelve member team, and the suicide mission was their bright idea. Now that they realize it might not have been the best thing, so the ME2 squad and their fans have to suffer for it.

Honeslty I have no idea what they are going to do with Thane. I don't really trust Bioware, and I dont have much faith left in them. I just don't even know if they care anymore.

I feel the same way. At the very least the ME2 love interests should have been recruitable in ME3. But no, Bioware decided it was better to alienate fans of those characters by sidelining them. Seems like the ME2 romances will be reduced to flings and nothing more. *urge to smash things rising* :/

I just hope the game doesn't disappoint me as much as I'm fearing it will. It's hard to get too excited with this dark cloud hanging over my head.

Yep.

"He had to have that assassin vibe. We had to be able to look into his eyes and get that feel from him. We also looked at Abe Sapien from Hellboy because his character is pretty interesting. We thought that might be a good reference for us to work towards."

Kaidan will probably be a little upset and hurt, but he will get over it.
He still has that doctor, and in another playthrough he has another of my shepards.

I always wondered if this doctor on the Citadel he mentioned is Doc Michel.

I know it's looking grim, but ME2 was voted THE best video game ever on several big gaming sites. Bioware did incredible things between ME1 and ME2. I really can't see them throwing it all away. Sure, bring back the VS, and Wrex if he lived, but otherwise, they can show us ME2 squad, and a couple of newbies.
The FemShep trailer had Samara, Miranda, Kaidan, Liara and Jacob, so they haven't totally forgotten the ME2 characters. Now what role they have who knows. I don't believe that Samara is slated to be a squadmate at all yet there she was.
I imagine Thane will be in it in some capacity. AND it would be really pathetic if they just had minor roles for characters they spent so much time developing. I thought since they are re-releasing Deception (novel) due to a fan uprising, that they listened to their fans to some degree.

I don't know.
She could be, but Dr. Michel seemed to really like Garrus.

So maybe the two of them met for a drink to talk about Garrus and the old times and what they've lost and came closer.

This is exacly how I feel. It seems like they just don't care if they alienate old fans. I guess they are trying to make new ones. I thought our team would be made up of the LI's that would have made most if not everyone happy. There is no ME4, so this is it. I really am worried that this game is going to disappoint me in the worst way.

You would think by the way they talk about Thane, and how hard they worked on him that they wouldn't just toss him aside.

Maybe if you don't romance Kaidan he will end up with Dr. Michel. If she's the doctor he is talking about.

Hey Drell! Long time no see. We missed you! *Tacklehugz* How was it? What are you studying?

Yes, I'm very disappointed that we didn't see Thane either. It does seem like they're sacrificing the ME2 squad, considering that we only had an accumulated total of approximately 2.5 seconds of Legion, Miranda, Jacob and Samara. I am trying to hope that BW know that sacrificing them to the degree that we think they are would be a bloody bad business decision, but I'm not really sure, because I do believe that artistic integrity should take precedence over economic considerations, but..... oh, I don't know. I'm waiting to see. We'll find out for sure in three weeks.

I am happy that we finally got the FemShep trailer. I was starting to think that we wouldn't get one. I am also glad that they included in the little blurb that they made a new default and gave her new custom animations. So hopefully, in the interum between ME2 and ME3, FemShep has taken some etiquette lessons and now knows how to sit!

Speaking of which, do we know if Kasumi and Zaeed are going to be in it? I'm hoping they are, because even though they were DLC characters, they added a lot to the game, especially Kasumi (I want that dress back!). And if they have been scrapped, despite all the work they put into them, then it will be more likely that they're going to scrap Thane. Gods I don't like where this train of thought is going. I'm gonna hug my Thane plushie again. :(

More Thane, cause we all need him. Also, more by Angua, since Cosmo posted Anywhere (the Savvid one with Thane and FemShep dancing.)

@Myth
I need to hug my Thane plushie also. All of this has just made me a little sad.

I believe Zaeed and Kasumi are going to be in ME3. It would be a shame if they were not. I want to find out what was in the grey box, or will that be something Bioware never tells us. Kasumi was great, and I need her Shadow strike.

I'm getting depressed to the point no amount of Thane is cheering me up.

Is there any hope for Thane since all I've been seeing is stony nothing from BioWare?

@mythlover20 It was pretty good. I'm doing Business Certificate II because I would like to get to know the insides and outs of a typical business. You know, stuff like how they run, what employees aim for, how to please customers and all that sort of stuff.

As for Thane, I was looking around deviantART for ME stuff in anime form until I came across this: http://browse.deviantart.com/?q=mass effect anime&order=9&offset=72#/d397om7

These awesome pictures of Thane and Siha saved my day. Thank you!

Thane is also displeased by his lack of promotional advertising.

So, the devs should carefully look around if there's someone sneaking around in the dark corners of the BW headquarters.:P

The valentine is really sweet. Thanks for sharing! ♥

And I know, we won't really know the fate of the characters until we play the game. BioWare have just made some bizzare choices in regard to characters and story thus far. I really dislike the fact that they used Shepard being locked up as an excuse to seperate her from the ME2 squad and force her in with the new squad. Why would Shepard ever agree to being locked up when she knows the Reapers are coming and the Alliance is turning a blind eye like everyone else? It's mindboggling.

I wish the ME3 squad consisted of the ME1 and ME2 squadmembers. That would have made most people happy. Sidelining the ME2 squad and giving them cameos seems like the worse decision they could have made. What made them think people would be happy with that? I'd like to be more optimistic but it's hard, considering what we know.

Casey Hudson mentioned Zaeed (and Thane) would be back in an article awhile back. I assume the same goes for Kasumi if she was recruited and survived the SM. All the characters will probably be back in some form, what has people worried is whether or not they will have a decent story

I agree
I don't see how the ME2 LI's can  get the same amount of contant as the ME1 LI's if they aren't with you. The only ones who will are Garrus and Tali. I don't know why they even bothered saying all LI's will get equal treatment. I don't believe it's going to happen, and I don't know how they can pull of a satisfactory conclusion for everyone.

They know people won't be happy. They simply don't care.

@JECWSU,

What bothers me about Thane is that, unlike most of the rest of the ME2 exclusives, Thane's the only one with a death clock over his head.

If Shepard has been incarcerated for X amount of time when the game starts, has she been able to get in contact with him, and he, her? Depending on how the game progresses and how long it is until she can reunite with him, unless some sort of cure/life-prolonging thing has happened to Thane, there is really no way that the conclusion to this romance can be in any way satisfactorily concluded if Thane is dying somewhere and one contrived reason after another is thrown in the way to keep Shepard away.

And yes, I understand that the galaxy is at war, Shepard has sh** to do, but seeing as ME3 is supposed to be a bit like World War 2, with some places fighting and others out of the action, I don't see how it would be unreasonable to hit up (or at least attempt to) old squadmates that might be in danger's path.

I don't know what excuse they might give for the other LI's for their separation from Shepard but with Thane, a total lack of communication between the two of them, given his condition would be disturbing and bizarre.

I really don't understand the dynamic here. Thane got so much attention before the release of ME2. He even got his own trailer along with several other characters, but now nothing...

Dying or not one would think Thane would be hyped up for ME3 along with the other characters because this is the last game, and his fate is just as uncertain as anyone elses.

At least that's what I would've done. I don't know what to think of this anymore.

I completely agree Asenza.
That's what really worries me.Thane is the only one with a time limit, and it doesn't make any sense for Shepard to not have any contact with him knowing he doesn't have much time.

Will this just be something that Bioware glosses over. I also know they are at war, but that doesn't mean you can't worry about someone you love who is sick. People who are at war do manage to find some time to contact their loved ones.

They will probably all get the same excuse which won't make any sense. I agree that it would definatley be strange for her not to be concered about Thane knowing that he's dying.

I kind of feel bad for the writers, though. I mean, it wouldn't have been difficult to only make three or four of the ME 2 characters potential LI's. But by making nearly all of them potential LIs, they kind of painted themselves into a corner. I mean, there were eight potential romances(including Liara in LotSB) in game. Putting the total count at ten(nine for each sexed Shep, but ten total story lines) potential LI's. That's a lot of work needed to make all of them come to proper fruition for an ending, be it good or bad, so to speak.

I'm just as disappointed with how the ME 2 LIs appear to fare in the final chapter. Everyone who has said there are a bunch of cameos and one-off missions with the ME 2 LIs are spot on. BW probably wasn't able to give lots of time to those story arcs and still maintain the energy of the final episode. The missions with the LIs are important to the story and will even help with the whole galactic readiness stuff, but they don't seem to be very long or detailed missions and since there's no chance to turn to a squaddie and just chat, a la DA:O, we'll probably just get a couple of cutscenes with Shep and their ME 2 LI.

Although, maybe we'll luck out and discover that the one well-guarded, long kept, no one has leaked the information yet surprise twist in ME 3 is that ME 2 LI can be made permanent squaddie if your still involved with them. Yeah, yeah, I know, zero chance, LOL, but there's always hope :D

At this rate I think we have gone through every possible scenario. Many of them look grim too. >.<

Poor visitors to this thead, it's so negative. xD And with good reasons, I fear. I just wish they'd say anything about Thane. Even a screenshot would be nice now...
