@JECWSU - have you played the multiplayer? If so, did you enjoy it?

I haven't had a chance to play it yet. I don't think I'd be to good at it.
Have you played it yet?
I've heard a lot of people did enjoy it.

Oh, I'm sure that you would be just fine at it!
Yeah, I've played it. I wasn't expecting it to be as good as it was, it's actually really fun and quite addictive. I love playing as the Vanguard in the MP. So cool. xD

Did you play the drell (Thane's twin)?

Thane's twin is the main reason I'm playing MP at the moment...

No, I had to play the human female because I haven't unlocked the drell yet. I'm hoping to unlock it soon so I can pretend that it's Thane. xD

I've played the Drell Vanguard on my brothers account.

But I have yet to unlock him , or any other class for him, on my own xbox account.

I'm still not clicking on the SP demo part.

I'm happy killing stuff on my drell vanguard (who's voice I swear is Thane's too) and seeing all those smooth moves and the biotic melee attack... Just hoping I can get a different skinpack now so that he doesn't have to look EXACTLY like Thane too...

I''ve played through the SP missions several times. I got the impression the scenes were cut up for the demo so I didn't feel it spoiled much of anything. The best part of the SP has been getting to test out the combat classes, new powers, etc! By the time the game is out I should be ready to give the Reapers an overdue beatdown. If only Thane was on the squad...

As for multiplayer, I've barely gotten the chance to play. My starter pack did not include Thane's twin though - just medigel and guns. D: Apparently you need credits to unlock the other races and other stuff?

If they used Keythe's voice, I especialy want that drell. While playing ME2, every time Thane would open his mouth I'd think:  Just talk to me all day and tell me things! ♥ I love listening to him.

I'm fairly sure it's the same voice Thane has, just a bit more... repressed. But I still squee everytime he goes "raaaargh!" when charging or biotic punches someone.

Ahem.

As for the SP demo, it's just a bit about the spoilers. I fear I'll freak even more over the fact there's 3 weeks left if I play it. Granted, the MP playing hasn't made me... that already. >.> Darnit.

Ugh! I need to get some MP time in! I got about 3 mins in last night before hubby was rolling his eyes, so hoping for more tonight. Fortunately the splint on my finger does not impact my gaming at all! Typing however....
Let's hope for some good Thane time in ME3.
I'd also like to say that I too was grinning like an idiot playing the SP demo - just to have all the crew and my Shep back in action!

This is how I picture Thane recruiting - he wants YOU!

Will do. (:
I just got off playing the multiplayer and I still haven't unlocked Thane's twin. Oh well, good things come to those who wait. Nevertheless, I am still enjoying the multiplayer.

Well, you aren't going to like the next chapter, which hopefully should be up mid-week. I'm sending it to my beta tomorrow night. There were times when I almost teared up a little, so... Critical Mission Success, I guess.

You won't like the chapter after that, either. Or the chapter after that, or most of the chapter after that. But the rest you will. ^_^

I'll give you a little hint about the next one though. He's tall, scaly, and turquoise. ;)

First of all, yay. :D And second, I think I'm going to like where this is going.

Like most of you guys, I think Thane's polite personality has a lot to do with his training by the hanar. Professional assassins do need to have a lot of self-control, and the drell's relationship with the hanar can only add to that. The hanar are extremely polite, themselves. In Thane's case, this behavior was probably something he learned to follow from a very young age.

It makes me curious where Kolyat grew up, because his personality is not like his father's at all. He's very emotional when we meet him in Thane's loyalty mission, which is completely understandable, but he also doesn't seem to be thinking his decisions all the way through like an assassin would need too. (This is why I don't think that, in his current state, Kolyat would make a good assassin. Poor guy's in way over his head. Thane had a lot of training.)

Something else I've noticed about characters who are more experienced assassins is their ability to control or completely block out emotion, intentional or not. Thane's battle sleep sounds similar to this, but he's probably the only character I've seen so far who believes that his body is responsible for his actions and not his soul. That might just be the difference of drell religion.

It's really interesting for me to see what characters do when pushed to their limits, like how Thane went off on those batarians who killed his wife. I tend to push my own characters to their limits too, and show how far they would really go for their goals or someone they care about. Just look at my Carson. He's this crazy for a reason.

So, I support your idea to make Thane go into a crazy rage in one of your fanfics, Myth. (I assume you have more than Invictus planned?) We got to hear about that side of him in-game, but never got to see it for ourselves. I wonder if he would still feel guilty about his violent actions later if, in the process, he managed to save a life instead of the violence being revenge for a death.

Hmmm, I may have to beat myself later with a wet noodle for making this rather negative post, but.....Posted Image
So I have been reading about the MP in this thread, and I saw some stills of it that show the Drell character.  I have to admit, this is beginning to make me a bit nervous in regards to how Thane's return in ME3 may be handled.

It sounds as though Thane's VA is doing the voice....as was pointed out earlier in this page of thread, and the character in MP looks, at least to me, EXACTLY like Thane.  Same color, markings, and the outfit with the trademark open chest area (for ease of breathing issues, a trait that is NOT apparent on Kolyat's or Feron's outfits).  So here are my fears; he has been included primarily in the MP section, perhaps as an encouragement for more people to play the MP.  They have already stated that the MP section will ADD to your SP run, if you choose to play it.  Now, I still believe that they will have something in the SP vanilla game that includes our lovely Drell, but that he will be the "bait" so to speak, to get new players to play the multiplayer part of the game.  Also the fact that Evil Chris had said to someone in the Thane thread, that he had "just seen Thane the other day", or something to that effect.  It's possible he was talking about the MP demo, or just teasing regardless, but it does make me wonder.

Having said all of this, I will state that I still hold out hope for good times with Thane in ME3, and my stupid conspiracy theory is just, well, theory.Posted Image  It is quite possible that they just threw a Thane look-a-like in the MP demo for lulz (and maybe it's easier/cheaper to use an existing Drell model), in which case, please ignore my blathering and hair-brained ideas.  Bleh!Posted Image

Hm, okay I have deleted and redownloaded the demo but I am still not getting the mars mission. Is it in fact in the demo or is it just those two? Is anyone else having this problem?

It's only those two missions in the demo. (:

I don't think Thane's appearance has anything to do with the multiplayer drell. If I had to guess, I'd say that they only made the outfits so similar because they didn't want to waste time designing another one when they have more important things to do. Just look at the turian casual clothes. It's basically one style in different colors, sometimes with the addition of a hat/hood. If it is the same voice actor (I can't say because I didn't play the demo), then it's probably because he does a great job with drell voices. BioWare's used the same voice actors for major characters to also play minor characters in the same game, like Saren's VA playing Balak.

Again, I don't know this for a fact because I didn't play the demo, but I thought it was possible to customize multiplayer characters at least with different colors. Can anyone else confirm this for me? Is the Thane-twin drell just a place-holder/default, or do they all look like that with no options for different appearances?

As for Chris Priestly's comment, I think he was talking about the actual game, even though I can't really be sure how he meant it. He's already played ME3 and even made a thread about it. (No Thane info there, only minor spoilers.)

And thankfully, it's been said before that we can achieve all of the same results without touching multiplayer as long as we do sidequests and stuff like that. So if the multiplayer does end up effecting Thane's mission in any way, it will also be possible through the singleplayer campaign.

I think it's become my job here to spread optimism about ME3. Posted Image

Yeah, I'm not going for the "play a non-imported Shepard first" either. I don't have as much time to play Mass Effect as I would like, so I have to play out the options I want to see most before anything else. And for my first playthrough, that means Garrus romance import. I'm always thinking "Yay, my choices matter!" whenever I see an NPC from the previous games anyway... with the exception of Conrad, who went crazy and thought my Shepards all shot him (but that was hilarious, and forgiven).

I've been playing the multiplayer and one thing I find extremely frustrating is how rare it is to unlock the aliens. I saved up a bunch of credits so that I could buy several veteran packs. Not a single one contained an alien unlock. D: I'm still stuck playing a human.

It made me sad that I didn't get to see Thane's twin. It seems no one I played with had him unlocked. I only saw a Turian, Krogan, Asari and LOTS of humans. That about covers it.

Anyone else have better luck?

I'm having the exact same problem. I did the exact same thing as you - I saved up heaps of credits, blem them all on packs and I didn't get a single alien. ):
So don't worry, you're not the only one still playing a human.

I've only seen one drell, one asari, a fair few turians and krogans and everyone else plays as humans.

All of the alien characters come from randomized packs? That's strange. When I originally read about the multiplayer, it sounded like new characters would be available as you level up. It would have been a better system.
