If there's a way to save Thane I don't think most here will view that as spoiler. Sounds good to me.

Okay then. :) I figured everyone wants to know how to keep their favorite character alive (unless they're really trying to do a blind run-through and live with the consequences), but scenes that involve character deaths often contain a lot of spoilers. I'll try to keep it to the basics of "choose this option here".

And this would be the only reason why I would consult a different source on what to do in the game.

The first picture on this page is amazing. Really talented artist. That might just be my favorite Thane fanart.

I don't consider it as cheating if Shepard moves on with someone else after the way Ashley/Kaidan acts on Horizon. They practically ended the relationship right there, and a letter isn't always good enough to fix that. Too little, too late. It's more of a tricky situation with Liara. Shepard doesn't have an opportunity to end the relationship until LotSB. Now I have a question for those of you who have DLC. If you play LotSB early, before you start a romance with someone else, can you still break up with Liara, or does the subject not come up at all, basically forcing you to "cheat"?

Pfft. Oh that would be hilarious. I'd definitely go along with Mordin with that just to see Carson's reaction.

That dialogue really cheered me up. I've just been trying to recreate my MainShep Margurite so I can get her facecode and put it into the PC. That took over an hour and a half to do, and it is most definitely not right, but it's as close as I'm going to get her. (Why, oh why doesn't the facecode show when you import a ME2 save?!). Please remind me never to loose track of my facecodes again. That was truly an exercise in frustration. :pinched:

You can still join him! Posted Image I'm sure Carson will run through red sand again soon enough. Glad the dialogue cheered you up.

Ummm, I don't know. I don't think anyone here has done that. Well, maybe Saren. SAREN!!! Have you done this?

For the record, this is the first thing I saw when I entered the thread. xD It amused me.

To answer the question - yes, I think the official romance starter with Thane is the "I'm here for you" line (labelled as "I want you" for the purpose of being obvious, as the actual dialogue is not). The "friends" line, although it does sound flirty, probably isn't a romance starter - but it definitely works to play it like one for some Shepards.

You have no idea just how much air it took to shout that half-way around the globe. :P

=] Glad I could help! Especially you cheered me up after that facecode reconstruction. Grr. That's still peeving me off. That said, I'm sitting here with my new dance skirt on my dressmakers mannequin next to me and the sheer amount of work I had to put into it, and still have to go, is making me pretty irritable too, so that might have something to do with it.

And you know what, after all the work I did reconstructing that face code, ME2 Margurite, and ME3 Margurite Approximate... LOOK NOTHING LIKE EACH OTHER! See?

Posted Image

So my head canon is now going to be that she went renegade and her arrest did not go according to plan, resulting in her doing a Garrus, and taking a bullet to the face from point-blank range, and the reconstructive surgeon seriously botched the job. Seriously though, she looked better in ME2 and on my PlayStation.

Thane is not going to recognise his Siha anymore. Hell, she's not even a Paragon anymore. She's a very angry woman now, his Siha. :(

Kaidan doesn't have a chance. You'll find out why in Invictus, since we have no idea what happened during her trial (oh ho, I'm evil!).

Anyways, enough of my rambling. On topic:

LT, I love that idea of Shepard reading a love letter from Thane. <3 I've immediately retconned it into my headcanon. Mind if I reference it in Invictus? I've already got the turtling, green tea ice cream, drellicking, and one of Saren's dialogues referenced in there.

We've all said it before, and we'll all more than likely say it again, but none of us consider Kaidan/Liara and FemShep to still be in a relationship. My Shepards certainly dont. Horizon would certainly kill any relationship. Death even more so.

And Saren, thanks for clearing that up. I'm going to use that line now. :) I just used the "Just friends?" line because I thought that was the romance trigger.

Oh, and I just found this new Thane pic on DA.

Oh, and this is funny, too. Might be a bit racy to some, but definitely not NSFW, so the moderators can't take it down.

OK, I have now come to a realization with my mini obsession with Thane, I think I sort of going through he 5 stages of grief as in...

Denial: "No! They won't kill Thane off! They cant do that to the fan-girls!
Anger: "BIOWARE you sons of *!@$# you better cure Thane!
Bargaining: "OK, If you cure thane Bioware, I promise not to flirt with Garrus anymore :)
Depression: "OH GOD..What if it's true. :"( "cries and eats Ben & Jerry's ice cream"
Acceptance :"Ok, at least he's alive in ME3, if not, His romance was awesome in ME2 anyways :)"

Voila~

I've been pretty recluse in this thread just because I fear for Thane so much *gross blubbery tears*

but now I see hints that there are ways to save him? O: is this true...?

I don't want spoilers but I'd like to atleast know if he can be saved so...

Oh, I don't know anything about his fate for a fact. I've already seen things (not related to Thane) added into the game that weren't in the script I read, so I have no idea how much has been added to his story, if anything. I was just saying, I'll have the strategy guide on day one, so if there is a way to save him, I'll tell you guys. :)

@Myth: Oh no, poor Margurite! There's no way at all to find Shepard's facecode in ME1? Have you asked the FemShep thread? They would know more about it than I do. But if it makes you feel any better, I'll be having some frustration of my own with one of my poor MaleSheps who was ninjamanced, playing him through ME1 for a third time. I was so close to his perfect playthrough... 3-4 months of gaming, down the drain. D:

Invictus sounds really awesome though! Can't wait to see it.

Okay, just accidentally deleted my original post so let's see what I can remember.

Yeah, I really should be editing your order of tall, broody, and turquoise. In fact I came into the office specifically to do some writing and now look at me.

I am a bad, bad writer. Bad. :(

I feel for you Saren. I had a similiar experience with Oblivion: played a male High Elf up to about level 57, got stuck in the bugged out Vamp Cure questline, and half my save files somehow got corrupted. That was about... 5 months work. So I had to start again with a female Dunmer. About another 6 months later I got so sick of it that I took it out of my PS3 and hadn't toughed it again until about a month before Skyrim came out, and I got myself locked in a bit right at the end that I keep dying in. So, I still haven't finished Oblivion. I did just finish Skyrim though, after about 160hrs, but only because I left half of my quests unfinished before I went and completed the main questline. So I am saying now that Melhara is officially retired, and all she wants now is to setle down in Vlindrel Hall, and race around after tiny half-dark elf, half nord littlies, with her darling husband Vorstag. Mmm. I need to write that too. :pinched:

And thanks for the tip. I'll pop over and ask now. Or soon.

Bah, if I'm back here in an hour kick me off, please. I'll never get Chapter Two up otherwise!

@Myth: Aww, don't feel too bad about it. You're probably just like me - great writer, but no idea how to motivate yourself to actually write. Or I'm alone in this one. I spent the better part of my day on BSN. ^^; And if I'm still on in an hour, I'll need to kick myself off. I should be sleeping already. Blame the ME3 anticipation.

So many problems with Oblivion! That's terrible. I hope they fixed them for the GOTY edition? That's the one I have.

Am I the only one curious on how Thane will look like in ME3's graphics. I assume there'll be some difference considering that Shepard and every human looks different.

I do believe its easier to make aliens look the same from game to game. For instance, its sooo much easier to draw fan art that looks like Garrus, Grunt or Thane, than any of the human squadmembers. At least thats what  I think.

I think Thane will look pretty much the same. Garrus, Wrex, and Liara all look the same. Ashey, Kaidan and Shepard got upgrades. I don't think they will do that for the others.

I love Thane, but this actually makes me think more of Feron then Thane.  (it's the hood part)  I finely bought and read the comic Redemption, which is the story of Liara and Feron getting Shepard's body away from the shadow broker's people who had and were very close to selling the body to the collectors.

I have to say after reading the comic I have come to respect Liara more, and I really, really, really like Feron and hope he gets more then just a cameo in ME3 (but I'm sure if he is even seen it will only be a cameo)  It's sad that such an awesome character is wasted in a comic and not the game.  He has a funny since of humor to him. I found it fun getting to know his character.

but, ahem   I still love Thane more. lol

I would like to see Feron also. If Liara is with Shepard the whole time then maybe Feron is running things at the Shadow Broker base.

I too, would like to see Skittles, and not just in the Feron-for-spare-parts role that Asenza's given him.

It wasn't me, I swear!

No seriously. Someone else made banners and thought of it in the first place however many pages ago. In fact, I think it started on the old ME2 Thane Thread.

I just thought it was funny. I really don't dislike Feron, I just like Thane a whole lot more. There really just wasn't enough time with Feron for me to get invested in his character one way or the other, and I'm not too interested in the comics.

Honestly...Thane is such an amazingly awesome character that personally if he does survive the events of Mass Effect 3 (and everyone here prays that he does) I personally believe that he could even feature in his own set of Mass Effect games. I mean who wouldn't want to go around the galaxy as Thane? In a ship just as awesome as the Normandy? With new companions who all have a story to tell? I'd play it.

As much as I'd love it, I don't see it happening. Mostly because everyone else would go "But what about my favourite character?" Probably safest for Bioware to just finish up with this ME trilogy and everyone involved. :(

A ME related strategy game would be fun to see too.

And it's a shame the aliens don't get any graphic upgrades. >.<

Assassin's Creed Thane looks awesome!

I don't mind that aliens weren't "updated" for ME3. They looked great in ME2, and I wouldn't want them to change. If we're talking about changes for specific characters, that's a bit different. It makes sense that Garrus has stopped wearing his bandage. It would also make sense if Tali is wearing the same suit she had in ME2. I don't really care if the characters' looks are changed or not as long as the change makes sense. If Thane showed up exactly the same as he was in ME2, outfit of choice and all, I wouldn't mind. Well, I might if he's wearing the sunglasses in every scene. It could really kill a super-emotional moment if you can't see his expression.

Yeah, Saren, i agree. So long as the change makes sense, I'm fine with it also. So I'm happy with Garrus finally changing his bloody armour and getting rid of that bandage that covered his sexy scars.... (oops, did I just say that?). I will be fine with Tali having the same suit. I would have been fine with Alenko and Ashley keeping the same armour, though i do like the fact that they've changed. The Pheonix armour was a bit to young for Ashley imo.

But I do really hope they upgrade Thane. Just, no sunglasses. At all. I hated sunglasses on him. And no Star Trek style visors either. Bleh.

Don't get me wrong. I LOVE Thane's look, and I will be perfectly happy if he keeps the same style. But seriously, I'm hoping he has at least one other outfit, because I've just had the horrible thought of what it would smell like after being worn for a year, or more.

The FemShep trailer showed glimpses of a few ME2 characters and they appeared to be in their ME2 outfits (Miranda in her white catsuit). I suspect when we meet Thane he'll appear the same as he did in ME2 in his default black leather outfit.

Or maybe the ME2 squad appear wearing their loyalty outfits, depending on whether Shepard helped them or not? Samara appeared to be wearing her black loyalty outfit in the FemShep trailer, not her red default outfit.

The only ME2 squaddie with a significant make-over appears to be Jack, judging by the artbook.

To be honest, I don't really care what Thane is wearing as long as I can save him. D:
