Just found that thread! And oh, I love this one. Those hanar trainers were really mean to our poor baby Thane!

*sadly snips pic and muffles sob*

D'aaaaw! I like that one too!
This may cause an awkward moment but I love Thane's face here. Shows so much emotion and.. and..:crying::crying:

EDIT: Also the other day, I got a Drell Vanguard!!^_^ I remembered the last time I posted I was complaing about never getting a new character and that I wanted a Drell. Pretty sure I squealed..^_^

Finally happened to me last night!!  I've got him up to level 12 so he's not so "fragile".  Which is funny because Thane is NOT fragile.

I love that pic too - so much emotion.  And I 'm loving that he's in the art book!  Gives me hope as well since a majority of posts have been BIG downers!!  I better get at least one borderline happy ending - I don't expect everyone to live but....

EDIT - Damn, TOP!
Here he is patiently waiting....

Someone over at NSAS linked to a video tour of the Normandy in ME3. Nothing really spoilery, unless you absolutely don't want to see anything before the game is out.

The guy goes into Life Support, which is empty now. It made me sad. D:

Finally got my internet working (for more than a minute at a time) and saw this. I just had to have a look, and my thoughts as I watched this video:

"What the BLODIGE HELVEDE have they done to MY SHIP?!?!?!?!?" (<--- This was Margurite speaking, actually. She lives in my head now, and it's getting rather noisy in there lately.)

Margurite is NOT impressed!!! And what business did they have tearing off the panelling in the Loft? I KNOW the walls didn't look like that in ME2! It looks so, so wrong. I miss the tech lab and the armoury (I never liked the design of the ME1 Normandy). The SR2 was a perfectly functional ship, and it didn't need a retrofit.

I am not happy with the redesign. Margurite is outright pIssed Off about it. Personally I think she's just harbouring a grudge over the concussive round to the face during her arrest, and the imprisonment when she had sooo many other things better to do (like spending time with Thane) but she'll never admit that.

I have to admit, when I watched that video, the second the narrator went into LS  and said "and this is where Thane" I smiled. Then I cried because he said "was found in Mass Effect 2" and he wasn't there. :crying:

Back to the Loft though, those fish were SWEET! :)

The eels are awesome, and having a mainSheps voice in your head ftw.

I think the guy reviewing the normandy said that the tour was taken later in the game, so maybe it looks much better in the beginning.  I imagine that the Normandy can take some damage and the crew hasn''t repaired the interior yet.  I was irked my self seeing everything in disarray (what's with all the heavy amo laying around too?  Handy to have but not a good idea to use in doors...).  But the conference room and war room were pretty awesome.B)

As for the Art book pics of Thane, was that in the general ME 'section', or in the ME3?

I don't know what to think of it. It does looks a bit messy.
I like Sheapards cabin, and the fish are great. I'm  glad you can buy an automatic feeder so i don't have to think about it anymore.
I wasn't crazy about what Liara did with Miranda's office. It looks junky. They turned Kasumi's room into a game room. I was glad he mentioned Thane too, but was sad to see Life Support so empty. I admit I'm a little glad it doesn't seem to be occupied by anyone.
The whole ship feels a bit empty. Maybe once I play the game it won't feel that way.

I hope so too. Margurite already has a lot to be upset over, she doesn't need a gutten ship to be added to the list.
I am happy that they kept the bar in Kasumi's room, and that Life Support looks the same. I'm unsure what to think of them taking down the railing in the main battery: I suppose it makes sense to be able to get at the guns to repair them, but I liked the look of it i ME2.
I hate the engineering, cargo, and shuttle bay areas. Granted I remember thinking in ME2 "why can't we walk to the shuttle?" but now that I've played ME1, I've come to realise that it's just gratituitous space that we really didn't need. I think it's just used as the armoury now. Well, what happened to the bloody armoury on the CIC? At least in ME2 we didn't have to wait on long loading times to go switch our loadout.

It's definitely going to take some getting use to. They completely changed the lab area where Mordin was. It's not even a lab anymore. There is no real purpose for the area where Jack was since no one is down there now.  Engineering has one person in  there now and no real reason to go in there either. I am very glad that they didn't chang Life Support.

Oh yeah, I forgot Engineering.

I miss Gabby and Ken. They were fun, until they started repeating dialogue. I hope they finally got together. Well, in the PT where they survived.

I think BW might have known that we would be up in arms if they changed Life Support. And I think they probably realise that they're on thin ice with us as it is. *shakes fist in warning* BW, I swear, if you screwed over Thane...

I miss Ken and Gabby too. It just seem like a very lonely ship with everyone gone.
I didn't eve see Tali. We have this big ship with less crew. I have no idea what Bioware is thinking. I'm really starting to worry about what they are going to do with Thane.
I know if Bioware screws this up they won't hear the end of it.

Don't bother watching the video itself, just listen to the song

This is Aj Ondas - Azam Ali

I always imagine this song for Thane and Shep after it's all over, regardless if they live or not and for every bittersweet ending there is. Edit: Herp, spoke too soon: Aj Ondas is written by a man from a female perspective as she looks out to sea, while singing to the waves longing for her lover who is far away.

Couldn't think of a more perfect song.

A very haunting song. It's funny how we all have different songs in mind. Mine is by Sebastien Tellier:

It's okay I know what you mean XD This song feels more universal to me, romance wise, it actually sounds like one of the sound loops I used on my website ages ago :3

I like Aj Ondas because I've always imagined Thane as kind of middle eastern, especially after hearing about Rakhana. That, and while it's haunting, I thought it was always rather peaceful too. Like acceptance of what happens in life but there are things beyond ourselves that are forever and eternal. I've always felt thats what Shep/Thane's relationship was about :3

NOT TOO MUSHY HERE

Have you heard of Souad Massi? She's a fantastic Algerian singer and one of her earliest album, Deb (in english it's "Heartbroken") is just beautiful if you are into Middle Eastern/African/Algerian French type of genre.

Right, back to the topic: yes, I agree about the sense of calm of acceptance between Thane and Shepard - however I am torn between option 1) Thane gets well with miracle cure and they have lots of beautiful green children; or B) Thane and Shepard exchanging a dignified and melancholy farewell - which is only natural considering the plotline of ME2, but just too sad for me:(

I've been able to find a few songs that remind me of Thane.

- "Leave Out All The Rest" by Linkin Park - could work for Thane and FemShep, or Thane and his family
- "Never Gonna Be Alone" by Nickelback - I immediately thought of Thane and my Natalie Shepard for this one
- "Bring Me To Life" by Evanescence - beautiful song, I already think of it as a theme song for one of my Shepards, but it works really well for Thane and FemShep too

I'd like to see his life prolonged, if not cured. They deserve a happy ending.

Looks like the soundtrack for ME3 won't be disappointing. Not that it was for the other games either. Oh my god, this is taking forever. *checks calender* Only 6 days left!

Thank god I at least have SSX to the playstation now. Might keep me occupied till over the weekend. xD

I agree that they deserve a happy (or happy-ish) ending. Mind you, this is all a bit too close to home - the whole Thane/Shepard thing does mirror some personal events in my life, and if my music choice seem "universal" as per one member commented, then I am glad that there is some resonance that was struck.

Maybe videogames should just stick to mindless sexual encounters at some futuristic nightclubs ;)

I find this part very intriguing. Can you eleborate?

From my perspective I can see something in regards to my own cultulre based on Thane's spiritual/religious statements and behaviors. I love that he prays. I know that may sound odd but he is spiritual. He acknowledges a higher power and the influence of that power. The scene during his loyalty mission, when he prays, was and stil is one of those moments in the game where I took pause.

I always remember the first moment when I saw Thane. My husband was playing through first and he was recruiting Thane. I watched but when he killed Nassana then prayed, not for her but for himself. I was floored. I remember thinking, that's what an American Indian/Native American person would do. Then during his loyalty mission, he again prayed and I loved it and I loved him as a character.

Spiriutality/religion is very personal in my opinion and in my culture it's interwoven throughout a persons life. It touches the everyday and the mundane yet is vital. I saw that in Thane and to me, it was one of the best aspects of his character. So I am interested in your take and how you see this as middle eastern. Do you mean from Islam of another religion?

I know a man who is Muslim and he once said, I want to meet and know people who are in love with God as I am and are ardently persuing him. I agree with his statement and can say the same. :) I think Thane is such a person.

Yeah I've been checking but I didn't see him either.  I was super excited to see Legion though - I really liked him (it?).
