I'm trying to figure out who the guy in the long coat by Shepard is in the last scene. And not get my hopes up too much, because I REALLY can't tell.

I must have missed Jack. I didn't see her, but I saw legion.
I'm not surprised that we didn't see Thane. He seems to be the only one they refuse to show, and I'm starting to think that's not a good thing.
I will bet we don't get anything close to that scene shepard had with Ashley in the trailer.
Very nice trailer though.

I've looked at that trailer, and I can't find him.
Thane is the only one who we haven't seen.

I don't want to be that person but isn't Thane a bit slimmer than that? Would be awesome nevertheless. Great music in this though and ugh, sooooon.

Though the more I look at this person, the headshape seems kinda drellish. Could be a helmet though. O.o Could be the DLC companion too.

Would they really show Thane in a shot like that..?

And yees Origin has started pre downloading ME3. *drools*

I don't think it's Thane. :(
The body shape looks way too broad, more like Vega.
Either way, this is such an epic trailer, and I do not want to wait an entire weekend+monday for this!

Darn you across the sea and earlier release dates! xD

Yeah, I agree on the bodyshape being off but it doesn't explain why the head looks strange. Or maybe it's just my imagination.

I don't think that's Thane either. Plus that's a bad shot. For some stupid reason Bioware is making us wait until the game comes out.
I know that I will be coming here to find out what happens to Thane.

I watched it five times and LOOKED for Thane but nothing... We can either be down or hopeful. It's a choice at this point.

I choose hopeful. He's there. Just they are keeping mum and it would make sense, they left you with uncertainty they, BW, would want it to last until the very end. Which I can accept. I love the anticipation. It's an exhilarating feeling. Only three days left.

Oh man...

I'm hopeful as well - besides, if absolutely everything is told/leaked, what would be the point of playing the game?
I take all the info with a grain of salt anyway.

Some BAMF looking Thane for his entrance in ME3 (I hope :)

I don't think having a small glimps of Thane would have told anything. They have shown everyone else but him.
Bioware is making it very hard to keep hoping.

They're toying with us. They stand in their offices and watch this thread, some pity us, some take joy in our despair. They rub their dry, worn hands together, laughing evilly. They planned and plotted, now they wait.

What will become of Thane's fans? Will they cry and weep bitter tears of betrayal or will they stand firm in their resolve and dare to hope, to dream, to wait, to pray for our unlikely hero? What will become of the assassin? The Drell who had so little left to live yet was willing to give so much?

What will happen!?

I don't think they have shown Grunt anywhere? Even so, Thane not showing anywhere doesn't mean he's dead. He's the only one who COULD be dead, so it makes sense that Bioware would keep him hidden.

As much as I hate it.

Cue dramatic music and a montage of Thane... Wait. What do you mean we have no dramatic music and no montage of Thane?

Guys? Shouldn't we have a montage of Thane? Well?

Yeah, that one shot of Jack (which only shows the back of her head, and her entering a I'm-so-gonna-kill-this-thing-stance) doesn't reveal anything. Same with Thane. Even if we had seen him in the background somewhere, it would have been better than nothing...

That's what I was thinking.
It wouldn't have revealed anything. The glimps we got of Jack in this trailer, and the one of Mirand, Jacob and Samara in the other told us nothing. Their fans got to see their favorite character. We didn't.
There is no reason they could not have shown  a small glimps of him.

Except to want to keep people guessing. There were a few articles wondering about what would happen to Thane. He was a huge part of the promotional material for ME2. Keeping how his story ends or continues would be a selling point that they would not want to get out.

How would a small glimps of him revealed anything about his story? We already know that if he survived your SM then he will be in the game because bioware said so. The shots we get of Jack, Miranda, and Jacob tell us nothing about what happens with their story. It's just a shot of them. I don't see how a tiny little shot of Thane would  have hurt anything.

Look at the trolls who had visited here. Most of them assume he's dead by ME3. By showing a glimpse they confirm he is indeed alive. Also if he is running around, then he would be in reasonably good enough health to do that. If he is just standing and talking with Shepard, then they know he's alive but then more complaining because there is nothing more. By not showing anything, they keep people waiting, keep them from complaining and get that last bit of surprise. Drawing it out just a little longer can have huge profits. People will buy the game because they want to know.

It's hilarious because Thane was at the upper top of ME2's marketing. Frankly, I think this only indicates one thing: that he's available for only a tiny portion of the game, one that's not enough to even justify showing him in a trailer.

I don't really care at this point anyway. Part of me knew we wouldn't see him until in-game, so I'm not all that surprised. The launch trailer was epic nonetheless.

Yes he's probably less important then all those nameless extras. Jeez come on.

Profit margins drive decision making. Focus groups help determine directionality. The end goal, make money. Profits are nonlinear. Thus you have to extrapolate from your population base yet give reasonable flexibility to your decisions to allow for some variance in choice and outcomes. From our end, we don't see all those tiny, minute shifts, all we want to see is Thane but the reality is, what happens to Thane is part of the bigger picture of Bioware's profit margin.

And there are days when I am very much a realist and pragmatist especially when I just want to see Thane. Yet, I am hopeful. We dont know and it's easy to go negative when we see nothing and yet there is the opposite which can be just as easy as an explanation.

I love it. XD

Of this I am certain, Thane's in the game. To want extent, we don't know, we have 90 some hours until we can begin to find out.

This is an exciting time! This is the final moments, the last hurrah before the end. This is when it's good. When it's great! When you look back on the two years, TWO YEARS! And see all that happened. All that's been done. All that's been said again and again. Look how far we as a fan base has come and now we are on the brink of the end. Knowing and seeing it all.

Don't forget that. Don't lose sight of that. Because once its done, once we know what happens. It's over. All of this will be nothing but a sweet memory. A time gone past as we speed onto our next destinations, our next phases. So much as been gained, so much as been lost.

This is life. In all it's beauty and pain. It's wonderful and I am loving every moment of it. :)

I am typically able to stay positive, but this pretty much sums up how I feel.  It sucks, because it feels so wrong to be bummed about anything to do with ME.  I just can't see that it would've hurt the anticipation to show Thane.  If they don't want us to know about the role he has to play in the game, just give us a shot of him looking awesome in a nondescript location.  Or you know, a shot of him winking at the camera and doing that sexy who-me-oh-I'm-fixin'-mah-collar thing.  Or, show him shirtless... you know, for science.  Or... wait, what was I saying?  Oh right.

We know he's going to be in the game, but I won't lie - a quick glimpse would have been so exciting.  I don't want more. I'd prefer not to spoil anything.  But for instance, when I saw Samara in that previous trailer I squealed with absolute glee - I assumed she'd show up at some point, but it was so nice to see her!  That's all I really had hoped for with Thane.

The trailer was great, though.  *sigh* Not too much longer now...
