Ugh..why does Tali and Liara get hugs and Thane doesn't?!
Thane needs hugs and kisses too.:innocent:

Lets hope he lives then. The Devs will probably get swarmed with the Thane fans if he does die.

Exactly! Thane cannot be deprived of hugs and kisses, it would not be fair! Posted Image

And I will not be a happy camper if the only option is Thane dying. IF that is the only option, they better do the death well or I'll go into complete rage mode.

Exactly :wizard:! Thane needs a hug when you get done talking with Mouse..and.. and another hug when his tears start..and.. Well Thane needs hugs all the time. /Demands this!

And my controller will surely be going through the t.v and I will light the Mass Effect disc on fire if he dies horribly. Its sad to just single out Thane like they are.

I couldn't agree with you more! Posted Image Thane just constantly needs hugs because..well, because....because he just deserves them! When his big, beautiful eyes just stare at at you (or, you know, your Shepard), he's just asking for a hug so we must answer to his request!

I'm with you on that one. My controller will be through the TV and my PS3 will be thrown out the window as well as my ME3 disc snapped multiple times. And then I'll sit in a corner eating green ice cream while sipping tea.
It is very sad that they have chosen to single Thane out. I mean, I know that Thane is so unique and amazing but that doesn't mean they have to single him out just for that reason. Posted Image

Hey everyone. I've been pretty down these past few days, about Thane, about everything, and my best friend did a little pic for me. She just finished it now, so I though I'd share it with all of you, to try and lift spirits.

I told her to call it Desert Vacation, but she decided to go with something else, trying to be poetic or something.

I like that pic Asenza.
I do understand. I've been feeling down myself about Thane, and bioware isn't helping the situation.
Seeing wonderful art like this can always lift spirits.

That is a beautiful picture Asenza. Your friend has some great talent. As JECWSU said, lovely art like that makes us all feel better. Thank you for that boost of happiness. (: Hopefully it lasts until ME3 comes out, I just want to know what happens to Thane so I can finally have some peace of mind, even if it's not what I want, at least I'll know.

There's always hope.... And headcanon. Grunt, Thane, Kasumi and Zaheed are now the MYSTERY team.

They are very mysterious.

"BioWare’s art director Derek Watts walks us through the process of creating one of Mass Effect 2’s more original teammates, Thane.
“A lot of the time we will do the head first and then work on the body. I chose Thane because he was the toughest character for us to get. We had a written description of him to start with; we usually get about a paragraph of text to start, and that's all we really need. For us the key words were “career assassin”. The problem was, he was going to be the female love interest. Now that doesn't sound like much if you think about it, but it got us all mixed up a bunch of times, because women were going to have to find this guy attractive. So we asked all the women in the office what they liked in their aliens, and that kind of got us going off a lot of weird directions in the beginning and made it harder than it should have been..."

BioWare will be the biggest trolls in the history of the characters if they kill Thane.

I like Thane, but if he dies, I hope we can get his son as a new Drell crewmember. Maybe not a neck snapping assassin, but possibly an infiltrator, stealthy ranged type of team make like a cross between Garrus and Kasumi.

It would be depressing if they made an attractive alien JUST for the ladies, then killed him off, it's true. I guess my openness to Thane death depends on writing. If we have a buildup, emotional reactions, consequences, preferably a clean or heroic way out for him.... good.

If, however, Robin Shepard hears he died while she was being detained on earth and here's a flashback....

There will be some rage.

He supposedly had less than a year to live, right? So if he's alive, he's probably bed ridden, or nearly so.

There was a year, or close to a year, between ME 2 and 3 I believe.

Also, I'm not sure which PT I should play through first. Of course I really wanna find out what happens to Thane but I'm not sure if I should leave that until later in case I make any major mistakes in my first PT. Ugh! Too hard to choose. :P
Are you guys playing your Thane PT's first?

I'll be posting any info I find about saving Thane here on March 6th under a big bold spoiler warning (though I'll try to keep out as many spoilers as possible), so you and everyone else can check to make sure they don't mess anything up with him. :) As for me, my Garrus romance playthrough comes first.

I really like this quote. It reminds me so much of my own Shepards. (Actually, of my characters in general. Poor guys. I put them through a lot.) I'm also hopeful about ME3, even Thane's part. BioWare hasn't given me any reason not to trust them. I think ME3 will be amazing.

Totally agree. I'm so used to my favorite characters being killed off that it's become common for me to reject the book/movie/TV show/game's ending and substitute my own. Sure, if Thane ends up dying in a way that doesn't do him justice in my eyes (and I really don't think this is going to happen), then I'll be posting here about what I would have done differently... but after a while, it'll be like the rest. "My imagination says this happened instead." :P

That isn't going to work for everyone though.
If they screw Thane's story up so badly then no amount of headcanon or fanfic is going to fix it. While everyone else gets a great ending we get a bad one. I'm almost to a point where it just doesn't matter anymore. Bioware has damaged my faith in them to a point where I don't have much if any left.

Who said that everyone would get a great ending except Thane? Without spoiling anything here, I'll say that there was one other LI who appeared to have a scripted death in the leak, but more recent info proved that there was an option to save that character. I'm also hoping that major additions were made to Jacob's romance, or else it will be the worst by far. Nothing is even known for sure about Thane in ME3 yet. Just like every other character's story, I'm betting some people will like Thane's role in the story and some people won't.

Thank you Saren, that will give me some peace of mind. (:

Anyway, going along with the current conversation, we can't know for sure yet that Thane will get a bad ending. We won't know until the game comes out and luckily, we don't have to wait much longer. I'll admit, I'm a little worried that Bioware hasn't shown anything on Thane but remember, in ME2's advertising, they didn't show Garrus and he ended up joining the squad. I'm not saying that Thane will join the squad but I think that Bioware will have put some thought into Thane's character in ME3 as well as his ending. Part of me is okay with not seeing anything on Thane because when I see him in ME3, it'll be fresh and a surprise. Maybe it won't be what I imagined but at least it'll be Thane.

Thane's lack of ME3 advertisement reminds me of Garrus being a secret leading up to ME2 as well. Even a year after ME2's release (could be longer, I haven't checked), Garrus still wasn't listed on the official website as a squadmate. They wanted his part in the story to be a huge surprise, and a reveal that people would remember. I can see Thane's role in ME3 being similar to this.

If Thane dies and we don't have the option to save him then everyone will have a better ending. We have seen almost everyone else but him. I just feel like that isn't necessarily a good thing.

Garrus is different. He is a much more popular character than Thane, and bioware seems to be more invested in him.

I completely agree. A surprise reveal of Thane is definitely a possibility and it'd be great if it happened. Yes, Garrus could be classified as a more popular character but Thane has a pretty large fanbase and Bioware knows this. Thane's lack in trailers could indeed be summed up to a surprise entrance/reveal in ME3. Nevertheless, even if this doesn't happen, I think it's a given that there will be deep, emotional dialogue between Thane and Shepard whenever they meet in game.

Yes Thane does have a big enough fanbase. I think Garrus has more. He's liked by both guys and girls. They pretty much made him Shepards canon best friend. He's also from the first game and people are more familiar with him. His fans are the reason he became a LI in the first place. As much as I love Thane I just don't see bioware ever giving him the same treatment they give Garrus.

Yeah, you're right and I agree with you, whichever gender your Shepard is, Garrus is basically the best friend or "bro". I hope that Bioware give Thane a similar treatment like they gave Garrus in ME2, it doesn't have to be as dramatic, just something special for us fangirls.
Well, whatever happens will happen and hopefully it will be something good. Nevertheless, I'm going to try to not let this gloomy dark cloud that's hanging over my head get in the way of my excitement for ME3.

I think we all can agree on that. It won't be long before we find out.
I try not to think about it much, because if I do it gets me down.
I'm going to be coming here to see what others say before I do my Thane playthrough. I'll probably do another playthrough first.

Yeah, not long now.
I know what you mean, I get really excited for ME3 then I start thinking about Thane and I start feeling down. I read some fanfics today which lifted my spirits a bit.
I'll be coming here too. I want to experience my Thane playthrough with as little spoilers as possible but I really don't want to screw it up and end up killing off Thane instead of saving him. And knowing me, I'd probably forget to have multiple saves.
I really want to do my canon Shep first (who romanced Thane) but I may end up doing my Garrus or Kaidan playthrough first. Oh well, I have some time to think about it.

I probably won't be on here for about a week after the game is released, since I have to wait an extra week to get my copy (EB won't post it down to me. :( ). But like Ava, I just really, really want to know what happens to Thane. Also, going back to the previous topic, Thane does deserve hugs, and kisses, all the time, but Margurite deserves the DIPSMOOCH! That's what I want, the Dipsmooch. Thank the Gods that I am a writer and I can write this in myself. I might not, but maybe I will. I'll wait and see what Margurite tell me happened.

Oh, and on a side note, I FINALLY got my Drell Vanguard on the PC. I let out a rather loud squeel and I think I might have deafened my teammates. It's just such a shame that I suck as a Vanguard. :S
