I too have paused on my ThaneMance Shep because I was too Argh'd to tolerate it. However, I've heard that Major Kirrahe can stop Thane's death if you get to him/have him saved. Anyone been able to test this out? Does Major Kirrahe stop Thane's 'usual' death only to have Thane die a short time later?

On a side-comment, browsing the boards its really looking like a lot of people are dissatisfied with the 'mances. And the endings... but thats a different topic.

I'm over my anger.  Mostly.

All I really feel is utter disappointment.  But then, the way the entire thing was 'handled' was exactly the way most people in this thread said it would play out.

EDIT : @Mikita : What have you read about Kirrahe stopping Thane's death?  In my playthrough Kirrahe was alive and on Sur'Kesh but other than that and him becomming a war asset he had no involvement during the Citadel coup or with Thane.

He was alive in my playthrough too and Thane still died. I don't think there's a way to change it... I can't even see what Kirrahe would do on the citadel at that time...I'd be more than happy to grasp straws but if you look at the other ME2 cameos... I wouldn't hold my breath.

Did they honestly think this would satisfy anyone? It's like we're being punished for getting invested in a character Bioware couldn't figure out. And it wouldn't have been difficult for them to just give him a lung transplant and have him stay on the citadel for the rest of the game... buuut nooo... just thinking about it creates a lump of anger in my throat. -.-

Seems like Shep doesn´t care at all about Thane. This is ****ty annoying.

So no one can say aproximatly when we get the message? Is it like... 20 hours in game or something?

I do remember seeing it at the same time the VS sends a message asking to see you at the hospital. It's not that long after the VS ends up in the hospital.

I'd say.. uhm.. 4-7 hours maybe? Depends on how fast you are in missions really.

Spoilers:

I've heard that Major Kirrahe can intercept the assassination of the Salarian Councilor instead of Thane, or something. (I haven't reached this part of the game, so I'm not exactly sure of the order of events.) And that he throws down with the baddie. However, this info may be from the leaked script, and not yet verified in the full game. If you go into the gameplay discussion, theres a thread thats 'mourning' Thane and people mentioned the Major "option" a few times. Either way, when I first met Thane in the hospital and saw how it carried out, I knew it wasn't going to end well and then read spoilers and had my suspicions confirmed.

@Friera, it was either Post-First Cerberus base but Pre-Palaven, or right after Palaven. Its actually fairly soon.

So if you have done 3 hours it shouldn't be that long. Just keep checking your messages, and read them all because the title of the message doesn't tell you who it's from.

Aye, he is using an alias, so make sure to read your messages thoroughly.

He'll be by the left window in the hospital lobby as you exit the elevator. Near the Doctor who needs Hanar Medi-Gel.

I'm about halfway and I'm with Aislinn - EPIC fail Bioware. There are so many disconnects and things that don't make sense.
I'm posting Thane as his BAMF self, just because. This is how my Shep will remember him.

WHY is the life support still open on the ship? WHY is there still a cup on the table? So far none has decided to live in there and... at the moment it just serves as an angry reminder... They could have kept the damn thing locked.

For anyone who hasn't seen him yet, it should be an email you get after the mission on Palaven's moon (I'm pretty sure). About 4 hours in for me.

I am so angry...and dissapointed... right now, and prob forever.

Suddenly I have no will to play it anymore.
I might actually stop this playthrough and import another character with different romance, and continue my ShepThhanemance  when I get all answers regarding Thane´s possible optional endings.

Feels like Thane's writer disappearing between the games had an effect after all.

Or did I imagine that happening? Is there anything on his VA's facebook or twitter, for those who have them?

Well, it would explain some (maybe a tiny bit) of Keythe's reluctance to speak to any of his fans. It would have been nice to at least respond to requests about reading Thane's letter. I've heard both Kaidan and Ashley letters and they were well done. This might (not really) have helped a little bit. But obviously he was too busy pimping the rest of his work to even talk to people. Yes, I am bitter towards him. He could have at least responded.

I haven't even played yet (just installed) and I'm already pissed off.

The writer did leave - apparently a few did as they didn't like where the lead writer was taking the series. Also, there is a spoiler below that may explain the VA not reading the letter

Once Thane has died, you receive an email called "never lose hope". It is the EXACT same letter as from in LoTSB - so I'm betting that's why the VA couldn't read it - it was being used again and for they didn't want to spoil ME3 for anyone. Maybe now we can get him to read it!
