ME2 characters got tossed to the side like they didn't even matter. Especially Thane and Jacob.

Which in itself is crazy.

ME2 had a stellar cast of unique, well-written characters.  Each one individual, that we got to know and care about. I like Jimmy V (which I didn't think I would) and I like Javik (again, I didn't think I would).  However.  ME2 gave us : Legion.  Mordin. Samara.  Thane.  And all the rest.  Each brought a unique story to the game, they added another facet to experience and gave the game feeling.  To me, ME3 feels empty.  The Normandy feels empty.

No more Jack in her hidey hole.

No more Kasumi at the bar.

No more Grunt head-butting the windows.

No more of Zaeed's war stories where only he survived.

As far as I'm concerned, Mass Effect ended after ME2.

This is true.

I like Vega also. I haven't downloaded the prothean yet.

I thought it was a great group of characters, and I agree the Normandy does feel empty. I even miss Kelly. Samantha is ok though. I miss Ken and Gabby in engineering. You can't even go where Grunt and Zaeed where. Even Joker is cut of from the rest of the ship. I don't even go in the direction of Life Support anymore.

Why make all these great characters just to throw them away.

Ken and Gabby are in Engineering on my Normandy. No really, they are.

I know!!  And I didn't even hear "siha" in any of the dreams.

I did, but it was just as I hit another event trigger, so all I heard was something like "Siha, you may be a protector..but.." and it cut off for a cutscene. I think i can fill in the blanks of the rest.

Also, Kai Leng, in the fight on Thessia, says "Your friend Thane died - " and then he stopped because he had to recharge his shields. Hate missing dialogue like that. Happened way too much.

Nope, you see Liara.  /facepalm

Really.Why am I not surprised.

Someone in one of the other threads said that Bioware said that they used Ashley, Kaidan, and Liara because they focused better. I don't know if that is true, but if it is it's the dumbest thing I have ever heard.
More like Bioware was just lazy, and didn't care.

I also wanted to mention that I believe the tweets about 'Kahje', were the developers yanking our chain. Cruel and unusual, but not entirely out of the question.

And yes, I'm agreeing with the assumption that they didn't care.

BioWare has their golden children- the ones from ME1. Everyone from ME2, except Garrus and Tali, seem to be treated more or less as cannon fodder.

I wasn't friends with Ashley. I basically told her to shut up at every opportunity and insulted her a lot. Why am I seeing her in my flashback?

I romanced Kaidan, he was a jerk to me, and I kicked him off of my ship. Why would I see him?

I barely talk to Liara at all. Why would I see her?

I had clear favourites, and while I recognise that they couldn't have been able to tell that I'd rather see, say, Mordin, LIs are clearly flagged and should be given priority in those sorts of scenes,

I did hear KL saying something about it, but me too - besides Liara & Garrus were talking over him the whole time anyway!:pinched:

That's one thing I don't think I will ever understand.
Why bother giving us a new team if all they were going to do was give us back the old one and dump the new one. Why bother making some of them LI's if they were just going to treat those romanced like they were nothing. What was the point of all of it.

I was hoping after work, to finally start up the game again with my newly created ginuea pig Shep, and just leave my Cate Shep in limbo, or delete (so she can stay in ME2), but I can't seem to "unsee" what I have seen.  It seems silly to be so drained by this, but there it isPosted Image. I haven't played since I saw the hospital scene (and tried to do the Kasumi quest), and I now am just packing up my ME collection, and putting it on the shelf.  Even sadder is that I had two OTHER unfinished characters in ME2 and two in ME1, that I was going to finish off as the "best" imports for ME3.  (Not to mention the four complete Sheps I had already to import currently.)  I have no motivation to play any of them.  Sad.

As for any upcoming DLC, again, I can't imagine (for myself, that is) having a reason to buy it.  The endings don't mean much to me anymore, and I highly doubt there will be any Thane related DLC, so it would be a "no buy" from me.

I will instead go back to playing DA, and look forward to the next DA chapter, and NEW IP's from BW.

Hugs to all, and if you can find enjoyment with this game or the others, I am sincerely happy about that.  We need our fun diversions, and a bit of escapism in our lives.  I"ll keep my eye out for new ones.Posted Image

I can identify with what you are saying. Not sure about continuing. Maybe later. Need SWTOR.

@Cosmo, thanks for that. I needed that kind of laugh. That is what I intend to with mine and just have ME end at ME2.

I do understand.
I didn't even know there was a dlc. Just another way for them to try and get money.
Nothing could ever fix what they have done to Thane. Not that I believe they would even try.

Pfffhahahahahaha. This is hilarious

But really, other than Thane acting as though the character development from the romance in ME2 never happened and the game's ending, I think it is worth it to play through ME3 before throwing it into any dramatic oceans....

Oh god, I can't stop laughing at this

@JECW - The only current DLC is the "Ashes DLC. Sorry for the confusion. It was mentioned on a few threads, incuding here, that a twitter thread spoke of "potential DLC to come". That was what I was referring to. Sorry again for he misunderstanding. ;)

I've heard Legion and Thane during my last run so they are there but the way they go about playing the audio files for that is bugged, sometimes I'd get the same dialogue from (for example) Mordin played twice in a row...
and for Thane (in the dream) he called called my Male Shep 'Siha' ...

Tee hee - I loved it (the gif I mean)

I finished the game as well, and it left me empty.  I couldn't identify with any of the choices (I use that term loosely) and I doubt I'll ever finish it again.  There are so many plot holes, disconnects and things that fundamentally don't make sense.
And I really don't think my poor heart could take Thane's on-screen time again.  It's just too much of this :crying:

i agree. In fact, Mass Effect 3 is one of, if not THE best game I've ever played. A happy ending is not necessary for me - ME3's ending(s) were bittersweet but oh so powerful. I DO however think that I'm a minority in this view, and that BioWare may have shot themselves in the foot with how these endings were forced on the player, especially when they're known for player choice having an impact.

I can forgive them for the endings. I can't forgive them for the outright butchery of Thane. I can ignore the fact that he's the only LI with a forced death, because he's terminally ill. Fine. But it was handled extremely poorly. He doesn't even get a codex entry. And what's this? They recycle the Shadow Broker letter, which may have been a nice touch for those who didn't have the dlc, but I did. A lot of people did. For me, it was just a sad reminder of what once was.

I also think it was rather low of BioWare to promote that "Cure For Thane" banner on FaceBook, encouraging users to change their profile pictures to one of Thane in support of a cure. The response from that was largely positive - I remember seeing the little Thane pictures floating around on FB for weeks. Why do this only to say, "Nah, we were stringing you along." Cruel is one of the nicer words I can think of.

To quote Comic Book Guy from The Simpsons, "There is no EMOTICON for what I'm feeling!"

Yes. Promoting the 'Cure For Thane' banner and giving people a false sense of hope was cruel and heartless, to say the least. That's me using my 'nice' words.  If I wasn't afraid of getting reprimanded, I'd say more.

@coldwetn0se

I feel completely drained as well.  I've been weeping and depressed about all this for about two days straight.  So, don't feel silly.  At all.

Now, I'm just uncompromisingly pissed off.  There is no fix for all this.  They ruined what could have been one of the greatest games I've ever played.  A lot of it was amazing, I won't lie.  Unfortunately, it cannot justify where they screwed up on a major level.  There is no redemption for that.  Extreme, but for me, true.

I'm moving fairly slowly, so I just got to the Thane death. I was spazzing over what a badass he was in that scene (Seriously, that was amazing), my (nonromantically involoved) Shep's reactions, and then the hospital.

I do see what people are saying about the romance arch -- makes me nervous, since my Thanemancer is next in line -- but from a friendship path, it seemed pretty amazing. And utterly brutal. But in a good way.
