I'm anxious for news on Thane, but I've started a fanfic while we wait.

The Modern Prometheus
Summary: All Miranda needed was a chance to put her skills to use after Shepard and Cerberus betrayed her. Thane thought the best he could hope for was atonement before the inevitable. The new Shadow Broker may be able to offer both more than they ever dreamed.

Miranda/Thane, with appearances by Kolyat, Oriana, Liara, and Feron.

Luna (Widowspeak) linked me this last night on Drekllickers, and I absolutely love it. A great standpoint. It only dawned on my when I read this fanfiction, that Miranda would have extensive biological knowledge, especially after the Lazarus Project. A very nice angle, and I am looking forward to an update ;)
And no Alistair like sacrifices please! Or if there is, then it could at least be a choice? I would be more than happy to do a futuristic blood ritual equivalent thing!

In DA:O you can have Alistair be with Morrigan to save his life. Would anyone make that same choice with Thane? There is no way it would be needed in the story but could you?

I, myself, am not sure I could.

So if I could let Alistair be saved that way, why not Thane?

Thane was at first supposed to have a role on the suicide mission and that was on the hold the line part. But then Bioware figured that Garrus was more likely to sacrifice himself for the team than Thane so Garrus got the job. I don’t see why he should sacrifice himself now. Apparently he is not the type.

On the part what would you sacrifice for Thane getting healthy - It actually isn’t only about Thane - most of drell suffer from that illness so in any case you’ll be saving a lot of drell with a cure. Maybe it could come down to some technology - do you use it to cure Kepral or for a weapon against reapers.

I'm not sure I could do that either.  Just let him be with someone else even to save his life. I'm just more attached to Thane. I would hate to have to make that choice. If you do something like that Thane would live, but Shepard would still be alone. Everyone else gets to be with there LI except you.  I would prefer another way to save him or prolong his life.

That would make a lot more sense, especially when you have to explain it to Thane. (Becuase he would be pretty upset if you sacrificed so much just for him.)

"No Thane, really! I made the sacrifice for all Drell kind!....."

For me it feels different because Thane's more of his own man than Alistair was... ooooooooooooor, maybe it's just because I didn't like Alistair :P all wildannie wardens end up with Zev.

But it is a choice I could make... it's a small price to pay for living Thane.  I would be right annoyed that the storyline was so silly tho'

Probably. My Shepards can all be rather selfish when it comes to the ones they love--they'll do anything to keep them safe, despite the LI's actual wishes. It'll probably bite them in the ass come ME3.

If Shepard were the one to have the magical baby with Liara (you know it would be her), she'd do it in a heartbeat. No one dies, so everyone wins, right? Except for Thane, who would probably be rather annoyed that he wasn't consulted on the matter.

Actually, I would let Thane sleep with someone else other than Shepard to save his life. I think she would trust that there would be no emotions involved.

However, I can't see that happening in ME3 because it is set in the future where they don't have magical blood rituals to kill archdemons...

But like JECSWU said, I am more attached to Thane than Alistair. I did do a playthrough for the ultimate sacrifice, and where an (engaged) Warden had Alistair sacrifice himself for her, and it was very emotional and kinda touching.

So I think if they did an optional tragic scene involving Thane, then it could be more like a scene that Thane fans watch on youtube because it would deepen Thane's character. But of course I would never dare to do something like that on a playthrough!

Exactly. If that means my Shepard dies with Thane. Oh well. LOL

I am impressed. I know I am more attached to Thane than Alistair because, I couldn't do it. :pinched:

I am perfectly okay with Thane having sex with another woman if it's in order to save his life. Thane has very strict beliefs that the body and soul are two different things. IF they needed to make some drell-human-mutant baby I'm convinced he'd feel something for the child conceived; but the sex? No way. He'd just "battle sleep" the way he does when he does an assassination. His soul is completely separate and belongs to Irikah / Femshep.

td;lr if it saved his life, I'd do it.

And: “You should also think of your son, he might get someday Kepral, wouldn’t you be sorry if there wasn’t a cure yet?”
You can get away with anything with this.

Perhaps fighting the reapers will be like preparing for the suicide mission in ME2. There could be various choices you could make to either prepare against the reapers, or do something for a character, Shepard or something else close to Shepard. However, the more things you use against the reapers, the better you will do against them, and more civilisations will survive. I would still use the technology to cure Keprel's syndrome though.

I would use the technology to cure Keprals. I am totally selfish that way! Or bravely idiotic. My Shepard can take 'em!

I would also use the technology to cure Kepral's syndrom. Shepard is still going to beat the reapers one way or another.

Shepard: Listen, Thane. I know that we lost a couple of planets to the Reapers in our search for the cure to Kepral's Syndrom, but I care too much about you to lose you. You're more important to me than anyone else!
Thane: .....
Shepard: Um... I did it to save all Drell kind!
Thane: .....
Shepard: Uh... You're going to help me defeat the Reapers. So in the end, more lives will be saved than lost because you're here!
Thane: .....
Shepard: Mordin! Get in here and help explain the rational wisdom of my decision!

There's another topic about Thane has to die. These kinds of topics and posts make me want to quote Jack but I must restrain myself from doing so.  <_<

I saw that thread, and it's clear they have nothing better to do. It is also very obvious that not one of them is a real fan of Thane or even likes his character. I know it is very hard to restrian youself. I thought about saying something, but just decided to ignore it. I don't think there is one real intelligent discussion going on in that thread. Eventually it will just disappear.
