Siha,

I write this with a heavy hand, knowing
you will read this letter when I am no longer able to share my
thoughts. I am dying, Siha. Perhaps because of the differences
between our species, I can hope that time will treat you with
kindness and dim the hurt of my passing to faded recollections that a
drell would forever remember with perfect clarity. Selfishly,
however, I could not leave this world without leaving a piece of my
behind that would never fade.

I once accepted my fate. Nothing
remained but a shell destined to die. I only had to choose the when
and how of my passing. I had refused to be confined to a bed, gasping
horribly as my life beeped away to machinery I had no use for. I
thought if my Irikah, broken, bloodied, and betrayed by my absence.
Of Kolyat, small and afraid, bravely pushing at his eyes to stem the
flow of tears I had entrusted to him to cry... for both our sakes.

The expectation to move swiftly to my
end vanished upon uniting with your cause. You awoke me, Shepard. My
heart quickened its sluggish beat if only to remain at your side and
protect you with everything that I am. I was content to simply watch,
take the time left given and praise all I know for allowing me to
walk my final days with hope and certainty that I am worthy of more
than my cold isolation, solely because you believed.

I love you. If all else whispers back
into the tide, know this for fact. By grace give me by the Goddess
Arashu, I bid her divine protection to you, my warrior-angel, my
Siha, to sicceed in your destiny. To light your path through the
coming darkness. To give you hope, when all seems lost.

I will await you across the sea

I think I missed that. When does he sink into his bed.

After he dies. In my case, I wanted to go back into the room and stare at him, but the door was inaccessible. So I was staring through the window.

It is? I must have not read that very well. But, he wasn't dead in LotSB?

The letter is in his Shadow Broker dossier, if you romanced Thane. It was pulled from his personal drive without his knowledge. It's something he wrote in preparation for his own death, and was meant to be auto-delivered to Shepard when the time came. Which it was.

I wondered now if that was because they were using it for ME3 and they wouldn't allow it.  We asked him to read it before ME3 was out.  I wonder if it's actually an issue now - maybe for Easter??

I feel like, if BioWare were going to recycle the letter they should have at least had Keythe Farely read it so that Shep receives it as a voicemail. To make it a little more special, I guess? Since they couldn't be arsed to write new content.

I won't hold it against Keythe if he can't record it on his own since his voice goes through some kind of voice processing method to make it sound the way it does in the game.

@Julia...true. They should have had the foresight to have him read it before hand. They could have used it as a flashback during her own death scene. not freaking Liara.

I recruited Chakwas.
I doubt any of us care if it goes through the BW filters - his own voice is so close to Thane's it's good enough for me!

And perhaps we all need a little of this for ALL the issues with Thane, his legs slipping through the table, etc. etc. etc.

Haha, good to know I'm not alone in feeling sorely disappointed

Ya'know, the entire intro to the game kind of bugs me in relation to the Thane romance. In the Shadow Broker DLC, femShep and Liara have that conversation about Shepard and Thane making the most of the time they had left together....
... so Shepard spends six months sitting around a military base with no ability to contact any of the people who helped her stop the Collector's from pasting even more people. It's barely even treated as an inconvenience >:|

The whole thing just felt so... bleh. Bleh, I say! Right now I put the game aside to see what (if anything) Bioware says or does. I just can't even find fun in this anymore.

Yeah, imagine my horror when I played to end game and it didn't pop up.  Foolishly thinking along the way it would if I stayed in mourning.  Whether one dies or not doesn't diminish the fact that there was a romance and the fact that my Shep didn't bother with anyone else should have triggered something.

I think someone on here said kelly gets the paramour achievement, but I'm not sure. Miranda gets it if she dies too.

I first played my Shep who stayed faithful to Kaidan, and although the Kaidan romance is fantastic I wasn't able to fully enjoy it because I was heartbroken over what happened to Thane.  Heck my own kid had to comfort me and remind me that "It's only a game, Mummy." Seeing as the Shrios romance looks largely ignored I don't think I have the heart to play my Shep who romanced him.

Actually I don't want to play the whole game again because the ending sucked.

I need to create some art to help me cope with my feelings. T_T
