I thought it was funny too since they added them to MP, only to remove them from ME3 - and Thane won character of the year in 2010. I hope someone, somewhere, has to answer for this, and ALL the other issues.

^ I second this!

And, why did they purposely make him for Fem Shepards to love and then take him away? Poor Fem Shep has so few choices anyway. I was over the moon when Thane came alone. I have been a Thane-aholic ever since. Why, why, why?

I went back to ME2 for a while, just to visit my live Thane in happier times. Does anyone else remember this letter? I remember getting it way back when. Believe me, my Shepard tried very hard to send it to 6 beings of her aquaintance.

ME2 letter:

IT COULD HAPPEN TO YOU!

From: Elkoss Mail Route

A drell in the ocean, dying from Kepral’s Syndrome had a dream. In his dream, the Enkindlers came to him and charted the course of his life. The drell saw the wakes and eddies, and saw that sometimes the Enkindlers swam along side him, limbs raking the water, while other times he was alone. The drell saw that the times he was alone were the hardest times in his life.

He asked the Enkindlers, “Why was this one abandoned?”

The Enkindlers answered, their light shining brightly, “You were never abandoned. In those difficult times in your life, it was our bodies that bore you through the water.”

The drell awoke and found his Kepral’s Syndrome cured. If you follow the light of the Enkindler’s it can happen to you. Where the Enkindler’s go, we shall follow, and where their light is the sun, we shall be the stars around them.
Send this message to six beings of your acquaintance and your greatest wish shall come true.

I had forgotten about this!!!  Ugh, another hint at perhaps a cure/prolonging his life!  Why BW Why??  :crying:

As an aside - we HAVE an enkindler on board - the Prothean!!  Damn why can't I get Thane on the damn Normandy??

*heads to life support to weep over mug until passing out*

I am right there with you. I can't pass life support without Shepard wandering in and crying a few tears.

Hello again everyone!

Just going to leave this thread here.  It's for ALL mistreated ME2 LIs, and we're probably stronger together then separately.   PLEASE come by and leave your 2 cents worth (or more!)

BW has just released that they are "listening" to the feedback on the endings, and will address them at a future date once everyone has had a chance to play.  Let's not waste our voices!  Thane's mistreatment (and all the other LIs) needs to be heard!!

The treatment of Thane in ME3 just...is just so incomprehensible to me in so many levels. Also what they did to Jacob, and I'm glad that he is mentioned in that thread. I know a couple of Jacob fans, and it's just soooooo wrong.

And after ALL BIOWARE DID TO HINT AT SOMETHING AND THEN WE ARE FLUSHED DOWN THE TOILET
*sobs in rage again*

Just caught up on the thread.
*HUGS*
*HUGS FOR YOU ALL*

My reaction was more or less the same as all of yours.
At least we can pretty much all agree on something, that was awful.

I was upset with what they did to Thane. And the fact that he died isn't even what upsets me the most. It's how little his existance was acknowledged.
My number one reason for supporting a cure for him was to avoid the horrible fate of being forgotten. My worst fear for him was that he was going to die and that it would be quickly swept under the carpet as if he never existed. That is pretty much exactly what happened.
Except for the two mentions of him during fights with Kai Leng, he was never brought up again.
Even if you didn't romance him, I think that's pretty disappointing.

The fact that the romance is treated with such detached emotion (due to no fault of the voice actors, I must say, they did a terrific job!) only upsets me more.
So apparently they decided for us that Thane's romance means less to Shepard than a romance with Liara (for example) would. Even Shepard's reaction to Ashley or Kaidan getting hospitalised was stronger. This is supposed to be a game of choices, but I must say, Mass Effect 3 was severly lacking in choices. I won't even bother mentioning the end of the game.

In fact, most of the ME2 LIs got the short straw. Apart from Garrus and maybe Tali. Don't even get me started on Jacob.

I can't imagine why they thought it was good to throw away basically the best parts of what made Mass Effect successful. Mass Effect 2 is pretty much their most successful game, it won so many awards, got so many great reviews. Sure it was flawed, but overall, ME2 was a great game. They had nearly perfected the formula so why was it a good idea to take away what ME2 did so well, including it's characters? Thane was one of their most successful characters, he was once voted best character for goodness sake. In fact, about the only thing I think they improved on was the combat and banter.

The only redeeming factor in this whole mess is that at least we have each other.

I am so glad that Thane was created and I don't regret for a second romancing him.
Even after his treatment in ME3, he is still my favourite romance. Still my favourite character.
But now that his parents have kicked him out on his glorious green ass, we can pick him up, dust him off, and show him how much better his fandom treats him.

Thane is wonderful - when Shep tells him that she once has been together with Kaidan, who Thane met in the hospital, and when he promises to look after Kaidan to make sure he is safe I couldn't believe it. I am sure he does it for Shep and am also sure he thinks that the two will be together again after he is dead. This makes me even more cry about his dead. He is such a deep character.
Kaidan should comment Thanes death in some way, telling Shep how sorry he feels for her loss. That would be great.

Yes Eliza, it would be. Unfortunately, that would be far to emotionally deep for BW to bother with.

I really was expecting Kaidan to mention Thane at some point. They talk in the hospital, Thane mentions they were fighting together in the Citadel and got separated...

I would have loved it if he consoled my Shepard after Thane died. No one did. And Life Support continued to sit there, empty.

*grumble*

Some really old fanart I did back when I first finished ME2

I can't believe that was over two years ago now :/ I dug it out of storage (some of the mistakes were really bugging me) to remind myself of warm-fuzzy-better-times.

Maybe I should just redraw it? :P

and it's still open.
Why is Life Support even open.
Maybe they think it will make us feel better that they left it untouched.

I always thought it was Tea. Green Tea.

With my Shep who romanced him I actually went to Life Support expecting to see him there. When he was not. I proceeded to cry. It continued to be my hidey-hole throughout the rest of the game.
