I still plan on writing fiction about Thane, however, for as long as I can. Just trying to recover from the initial shock and horror of all this, before I can refocus. Unfortunately, a great deal of it will be somber (unless they give me a reason for it not to be).
No. You have to write happy endings for our Thane. He may have been forgotten by Bioware but he can't be forgotten by writers like you.

I wish Shepard could of taken Thane to Rannoch to see a desert....
I'm really astounded they "forgot" to at least include something like this knowing it'd be important for Thane fans!
Besides Rakhana would have been an awesome planet to visit on a mission!

Haha, well, I can't change what I already have planned. I'm a sucker for the dramatic, but that doesn't mean there won't be feel good moments, too! Don't worry, none of this has effected my original planned series in the slightest.
As for events in ME3, I'm holding off on all that till later. I have a gut feeling this isn't the end. I may be grasping at straws, but I'm not gonna give up hope until there is a reason (and even then, I'm stubborn as hell).
Another thing that made me feel a little regretful was you get to revisit Inta'sei in Argos Rho. The location of Shepard's apartment in Mass Effect 1. You only get to scan it, however. That place is a setting for one of the half-finished installments of my fic.
The place is nice, with a dry desert and a spectacular view:
Birthday present I received last year from ELE08:

@ Hanar - Thank you for showing us the comics....always welcome more!Lovely pic by squeegee too...good find @Cosmo. Sooo many missed opportunities with Thane, and the rest of the ME2 squad. Like Cosmo, I started the ME universe in ME2....loved it so much bought almost all of the DLC and played through it four times. Then went and bought ME1. Currently have two Shep's imported from ME1, sitting unfinished in ME2, and two Sheps in ME1 also waiting to be finished. Keep hoping I will get a good reason to go through and finish those Shepards (two of which or f!Sheps for the likes of Mr. Krios, of course.)

I never started in ME2!! I started in ME1 - thought it was lame (stupid mako!), and only played it twice. The gameplay was clumsy too.
Then bought ME2 a year after it came out, and finally cracked it open 6 months after that. I had switched Xboxs by then, so couldn't import from ME1. Just started clean in ME2. Of course met Thane, and well the rest is history. Plus the story and gameplay were 1000x better than ME1 (for me anyway).
Figured out how to get my saves off my old xbox and did 2 imports - a Liara/Thane romance (won't be going back to her in ME3), and a loyal Kaidan - niether of which are finished.
As for the bar - I'll take a whiskey, neat.

Thane's goals:
Make his mark on the galaxy, be remembered.
*is forgotten*
Go to a desert.
*goes to the sea*
It's really hard to be satisfied with his end when he didn't even achieve his goals.
There is one more thing they forgot: Thane did not want to die in a hospital, but that is what he got.

My 'single' Shepard is my main, who ended up with Thane. I just didn't think any of the ME1 romances fit her, as a character. In my head, she's sort of like this mixture of Ripley from Aliens and Jean Luc Picard from Star Trek. A bad*ss protector when she needs to be, an intelligent and dedicated diplomat the rest of the time. Essentially your typical honorable hero who oozes charisma (though on the inside she's far more complicated).
Thane was just.... the perfect fit. Their personalities meshed so well. I knew the implications, but went for it anyway.
That's because Thane is worth it.

PS - Hanar - ask for that banner back!!
Ha! Well, as much as I dislike what happened to Thane in ME3, it's not all of the teams fault.
I bet there were a lot of writers, a lot of artists, a lot of editors and directors who didn't like the direction the game took.
I can't blame BioWare for this because BioWare is made up of a team of individuals.
I bet it was decisions made higher up that made them do it. And as much as it hurt them to do it, you can't really say no to your boss.
Otherwise, that may be the end of your career.
I'm sure some of them still appreciate the banner.

Hmm...need to make a Fanfiction.net account, it seems;I usually write original stories, so I've never needed an account over there! Will get on it when my Chapter 1 is over and aye, AU is the only way to go here-though I'm generally a big fan of canon, hehe, but in this case, canon is a sad, desert(no pun intended, I swear) of a mess!:/
And *hug* to Nerana; remember, stop before the Citadel and let headcanon take over!*nods*Only way to travel!
