Sometimes I watch hubby playing his drell adept.
And everytime we game together, and I hear the battle comments, it makes my heart lift, and then I realize it's MP.

Female Shepard needs her Drell.
So
do random human female MP characters. I just finished a round with 3
female humans (including me) and a drell. no mics, and yet we all
crowded around him as if to protect him from the cerberus troopers.
It was glorious.

I don't play MP much, explains my low level and I definitely turned the mic off and put the headset down after I heard this in my ear, "Thaaaaaaaaaannnnnnneeeeeeeeeee" in a high pitched squeal. My poor drell adept, all I wanted to do was get out of there quick. I felt like Justin Beiber who just got dropped in front of a bunch of screaming pre-teens. I was protected to the point of it almost being stalkerish and to think they forgot about him in SP. I haven't been back since, it scared me. If I ever go back, I'll leave Tink (my drell) behind.

The amount of people satisfied with his death (while reasonable, their Shepard probably lost an ally, not a partner) heavily outweighs those who want more content right now!

Their main focus = "I got separated from my LI that is alive and I didn't get closure or get to make lots of babies with them, etc etc etc"
Dudes. Our love interest died. DIED. And we didn't have a CHOICE.
Yet people are mad cause they wanted an in-game model instead of a photoshop. /facepalm
(not that I'm trying to invalidate their dislike, but it's peanuts compared to our problems)

How we could fix the storyline for Thane:
I have mainly written this for a love interest Shepard, but it could also be adapted for a friend Shepard. I wrote this as therapy for me, because I have been greatly pained at the treatment of Thane. I am sharing it with you in hopes that it will help my fellow Thanemancers and friends of Thane. I cannot hope to write the part as beautifully as Thane was done in Mass Effect 2, but I this is my humble try.
Thank you for reading through all this. It is my hope that it help sooth your hearts. It has helped me with mine. Thane is a worthy character to love and he deserved more in Mass Effect 3.
Your storyline is wonderful. **wiping away tears**
Big hug from me to you for posting this story. **hugging**
I wished your version were in the game. I would make so much more sense than what we got.

In my alt version, Thane dies probably 3/4 of the way through the game, and Shepard immediately proceeds to endgame where Shep goes down in a blaze of glory.

The idea that a higher power set up the Reaper cycle in order to preserve order and their version of life is one that is parrelled in pretty much every religion that has ever existed, especially their sense that they have the right to do so. Thinking about it during the PT, this really stood out for me. And I kinda get it. But then I don't expect people to think as deeply and philosophically about it as I do, and I won't spam this page with the details of my theories.
But boy, the plot holes. Gods, now I understand why everyone is so upset!

I'm still working through how I would want Thane to act in ME3. In my head canon, Thane has spent the last 6 months recovering from surgery, so he is weak but not dyingThen he wipes Kai Leng's butt all over the Citadel and is a squadmate the rest of the way.
In my alt version, Thane dies probably 3/4 of the way through the game, and Shepard immediately proceeds to endgame where Shep goes down in a blaze of glory.
I would be overjoyed with either of those options.
Anything more than what we got would be an improvement. Even just some acknowledgement from Shepard and the crew that this person may have been important would be nice.

I still don't understand how they could drop the ball so badly *sigh* I dropped a long winded post in the feedback thread and LI's were the 2nd on the list. I honestly think Jacob fans got shafted even more than we did, so he was first, but we were second!

Recent Lung transplant. This option would have been good, including not only the information given in the LotSB dossier, but the character arc a romanced Thane went through in ME2. Since the romanced Thane expresses a desire to live in the romance cutscene in ME2, it makes character sense for this to have occured. It would also preserve Thane's presence on the Citadel, since he would still be recovering from the surgery and any resulting complications, thus not necessitating placing him on the Normandy. This option would also preserve his fight scene, since he could still be too weak to defeat Kai Leng. However this also gives Thane the option of surviving the fight. For example, The Alien Medi-Gel sub-mission could be used by the Hanar to be adapted for Drell usage. If the mission was completed a set number of missions before the Coup (giving the Hanar time to work on the adaption), Thane would survive, or die if it wasn't. This option will still mean that he would not need to be present on the Normandy, because he would now need to recover from the sword wound. This option will also open up the option of having Thane on the Citadel during the final confrontation with The Illusive Man, since we don't know what happened to the citizens of the Citadel when they were moved to Earth.
What do you guys think? That make enough sense?
Also, I've decided to put my ending theory up here anyway.
mythlover20 wrote...
My theory relates to the Child being a higher order of being. This seems to be supported by the child stating that "they" initiated the Reaper cycle to create order from chaos, and ensure the continuity of their idea of what life should be. This is something that we see in every religion we have. That continuity seems present throughout the second half of the game; from the relics on Thessia, of the Prothean appearing goddess Athume, and her guide Jarvik, a distinctly prothean individual, right through to that final cutscene after the credits of the Stargazer and the Child telling stories about "the Shepard," indicating that Commander Shepard has herself/himself become a goddess/god to the new civilisations.
What do you guys think about that? I like the idea of Shepard becoming a myth. It give me hope that someone, somewhere, would have changed the tale and come up with a better romance for Thane.

Also, I'll say I like Garrus as much as I like Thane but I still don't want a happy, seeing my LI again, ending (sure it would be fun but I don't see it happening). I just want an ending that makes SENSE. Or if not that, at least leave it open so people can imagine what they want...
At the moment with the endings, Thane was better off dead, instead of witnessing how forgotten he became and endure the whole broken galaxy afterwards... >.> This whole thing has just made it very hard to ever trust love Bioware with love interests again. Won't be a problem I guess because I won't be playing more Bioware games after this. Not unless they fix things.

I was playing while my 2 girls were watching (11 and 9) and I headed up to Shep's cabin to feed her fish. Which prompted the 11 year old to say, "Does anyone ever go to her room besides Thane?" At this point I had finished main story and was working on the finishing the DLC. I told her Liara does but only if you ask her too. Then comes, "Why not? Do they not like Shepard?" I said, "Well, it probably has everything to do with Shep's rule. Nobody enters unless they take their shoes off." I figure it's ok, about 5 minutes later I she yells out, "Moooooommmmmmmmyyyyyy, that's gross." I look at her and say, "What are you talking about?" Her, "I was thinking about that and I know that Thane's shoes are attached to his clothes. That's just gross." My response, "Oh get your mind out of the gutter." I really didn't think she'd catch on, she's only 11.
