I actually turned Kaidan down in ME1, then for some reason he told my Shepard she was 'a good friend', but he 'wanted more'. I just sat there blinking for a minute, then told him 'No'.
I don't know what I did. Maybe it's cause I gave him the whiskey, or was too nice to him. I wanted her to be there for him as a friend. Maybe I went too far.

Yeah, that gift thing for Kaidan...that's rather deceptive, isn't it. How was I to know that was for Kaidan and that I couldn't choose (imagine that) whether to give it to him or not. But, oh wait! Our choices have been taken away, yet again.
and @coldoneJust imagine a varren humping Sheps leg, cuz really, that's about it. Seriously. Thane's dead? No problem, everyone moves in for the sexin'. Just sayin...

Ugh, just had another depressing thought.
In ME2, Thane had one of the most awesome intros: dropping from a ceiling vent and killing a room full of armed guards, and only after praying over the body of Dantius, did he acknowledge Shepard's presence. Badass, awesome, and I loved the way the sun was rising behind him on the horizon...
In ME3, he's looking out of a hospital window.

Almost every option I took with Kaidan was a renegade option. But seriously, I just wanted to punch him in the face when he took her hand and said he still cared about her. I didn't care that he was lying in a hospital bed, having only just woken up from taking the near fatal beating that was meant for her. I wanted to kill him, and the token way he dimissed the love of her life as nothing more than a casual fling didn't help. The fact that the game did it to really pissed me off. Then Thane has to die, and I ended up giving myself a bloody migraine from crying so much.
Thane's appearance in Me3 did not do justice to his portrayal. It has been said many times, even by me, but I'm still upset about it.

The game almost pushes you into Kaiden's arms-the very reason I switched midway through and used my PT where Ashley lives. I didn't like the Kaiden sympathizing, I was Thane's girl not Kaiden's on-again off-again chick. Bioware should not assume that most women who play wanted Kaiden back, we should have an option to cease all romantic or flirty interaction off right from the start.

Oh gosh me too. Everytime someone talks about how cute Garrus's romance was I just... I FEEL JEALOUS.Aislinn Trista wrote...
You know what really makes me sad about this? I'm actually acting bitter towards friends/other people because their character romances were handled so beautifully (and the scenes are just so gorgeous).
Anytime I see a screenshot of the Liara/Kaidan romance scenes I get a little ragey. This sucks, because I love those characters and want to eventually experience their relationships for myself.
At this time however, there is such a sour pall over the game because of what happened to Thane. I cannot bring myself to proceed past the point where I meet him at the hospital, I just can't.
/facepalm
This is lame.

I came up with this fun squad banter while I was at work, thought I'd share:
Shepard: *sounds a bit out of breath* Hey, Thane, wait up!
Thane: My apologies, Siha.
Shepard: *surprised* You really are feeling better, aren't you?
Thane: *slight chuckle* I suppose I am.
Shepard: *seductive tone* You know, I'm not 100% convinced. When we get back to the Normandy, you should give me a full demonstration.
Thane: *amused* It would be my pleasure, Siha.
James: Man, you sure don't waste time... do you, Cobra?
Thane: *confused* ... Cobra?
Shepard: *exasperated* He's got this thing for nicknames, just roll with it.
Thane: I see.
James: What? You're not the only one who can come up with nicknames. What the hell does 'See-ha' mean, anyways?
Thane: *irritated* Siha is one of the warrior-angels of Arashu, goddess of motherhood and protection. It is a term of endearment and respect.
James: Pretty it up all you want, Cobra, but it's still a nickname.
Thane: Hmmph.
Nickname for Thane inspired by Aimo of course.

If they wanted a tragic end for Thane why not do this:
Save Thane by a lung transplant between ME 2 and 3 (he could change his mind about that because he is in love with Shepard and wants to help her in any way he can).
So when Shep meets him in ME 3 at the hospital he is ready to fight with Shepard against the reapers. And than later in the game let him sacrifice himself to save Shepard - of course, after a well-done romance with a wonderful romance scene :-).
That's what I would call a tragedy.
Yes, it seems that our definition of tragic is another one than BWs.disc0nnect7 wrote...

Would have been 100x better than what actually happened. Apparently our idea of tragic isn't the same as BW's...we want beautiful tragedy, if there must be tragedy at all.
I agree on that. They way they talk and smile when they are together in ME 2, how Shep comforts him did not let me expect the way Shep behaved in ME 3. She is so cold and emotionsless talking to Thane, who is doomed to die (she did not even bring a gift for him) but cares so much and feels so terribly sorry for Kaidan who has already fully recovered (and he gets a gift from her).I personally think Thane and Shepard had the deepest relationship out of all other LI's, at least they DID in ME2 before they completely did a 180 on his character.
