The game almost pushes you into Kaiden's arms-the very reason I switched midway through and used my PT where Ashley lives. I didn't like the Kaiden sympathizing, I was Thane's girl not Kaiden's on-again off-again chick. Bioware should not assume that most women who play wanted Kaiden back, we should have an option to cease all romantic or flirty interaction off right from the start.

Edit: FFFF nevermind no pictures from me sorry guys :(

Do you like my new avi Shell? Or should I go back to my blonde shep?

And would have loved the option to get angry at him. ManShep got to get angry at Ashley. What's up with that??!

And also @disconnect...still getting used to the new avi. :)

The thing that bothered me is that I'm actually a major sucker for tragedies -- I expected and hell, even partially wanted him to die -- so I was on board with a tragic end and heroic death. What I WASN'T on board for is how little of the consequences were shown in game. If I want my Shepard's LI to die as one more heartbreak, one more obstacle, one more horrific thing to happen to her... What I'm not in for is to talk to Liara about Ashley.

It was two years ago. Get over it.

With Robin, I WANTED losing the love of her life to damn well break her. I wanted her to struggle to get back on track, feel a lot of guilt about how the fight went, all the good stuff that makes death and survivors compelling reading. What I got... was not that. I wanted the story of how Robin Shepard dealt with the biggest damn heartbreak in her life, and not being able to fix things for once... What I got was "Robin Shepard shrugs it off, with barely a nod to emotion", which makes it damn hard to deal with should I feel inclined to fic it up.

@Aislinn - Ok, I can work with that....the Whiskey will go along quite nice with PDS.  HA!

*Perpetually Drunk Shepard walks into the Calibration....errr...big gun room.  Eyes Garrus suspiciously.*

PDS- "Whatcha doin' here, huh??  Gotta just get yer three-fingered mitts on everything, don'tcha Jimminy."
Garrus- <whispers>"Garus"
PDS- "What?? Got sumting to say?  You my 'conscience'....huh?"
*Liara and Kaidan walk it*
Liara- "Are you feeling okay, Shepard?"
PDS- "I'm feelin' groovy, baby.  Need to help Jimminy here Calabirate some guns.  Gotta be ready for them Reapers."
Kaidan- "Perhaps I could speak to the Commander alone.  Would you excuse us?"
PDS- "Yeah, run along Smurfette.  I have important Alliance stuff to talk about.
Liara- <whispers> "Liara."
PDS- "What....why you buzzin' about me."
*Garrus and Liara exit the room.  Kaiden gives Shepard a soft look.  Eyes start to widden, but a smile hides behind them.  He feels a stirring in his.....HEY...shuddup.  Get your mind outta da gutter.*
Kaidan- "Commander.  Thank you again for the Whiskey.  I look forward to sharing it with you. You and I have shared much.  Virmire, Saren and Sovereign.  I didn't trust you before, but now....now I see what I have always hoped for.  A chance.  To be with you.
*Kaidan walks towards Shepard.  Reaches for her hands.....<POW><BIFF>.  Kaiden is laid out cold on the gun room floor.*
Thane in Hallucination Form- "Siha.  He could be a chance for you.  Just as you were for me.  You awoke me after Irikah's death.  Perhaps, he can do the same for you."
Perpetually Drunk Shepard- "He didn't even ask about you, din't see the pain I was in, couldn't see past those catepillars on his forehead or the stirring in his____"
Thane in Hallucination Form- "I get the point, Siha!!" *Pinches the bridge of his nose*

I actually turned Kaidan down in ME1, then for some reason he told my Shepard she was 'a good friend', but he 'wanted more'. I just sat there blinking for a minute, then told him 'No'.

I don't know what I did. Maybe it's cause I gave him the whiskey, or was too nice to him. I wanted her to be there for him as a friend. Maybe I went too far.

I think Kaidan always tells your Shepard that, whether you turned him down in ME1 or not, whether your Shepard is male or female.
As long as you were nice to him beforehand I guess and haven't romanced any of the ME3 LI's, that is.

My Shepard didn't even give him whiskey!!!
I must admit, I had no idea what he was trying until he said it. I just assumed because my Shepard turned him down that he wouldn't try anything! LOL
But no, since he is the only ME3 male romance option for FemShep if you don't import a Garrus romance, we get that scene.

Yeah, that gift thing for Kaidan...that's rather deceptive, isn't it. How was I to know that was for Kaidan and that I couldn't choose (imagine that) whether to give it to him or not. But, oh wait! Our choices have been taken away, yet again.

and @coldone :) Just imagine a varren humping Sheps leg, cuz really, that's about it. Seriously. Thane's dead? No problem, everyone moves in for the sexin'. Just sayin...

mmmmmm....Varen luvin...what? Who said that!

Ugh, just had another depressing thought.

In ME2, Thane had one of the most awesome intros: dropping from a ceiling vent and killing a room full of armed guards, and only after praying over the body of Dantius, did he acknowledge Shepard's presence. Badass, awesome, and I loved the way the sun was rising behind him on the horizon...

In ME3, he's looking out of a hospital window.

That was absolutely my favorite moment in ME2.  I always start RPG's with two character; one male, one female.  It was actually my male Shepard who got to the Tower's first.  I was in awe.  I immediately switched to my female Shep and got to the Tower's.  I had every intention of romancing him from there on out.  And all finished female Sheps (except 2 unfinished ones...one slotted for Thane another for Kaiden) ended up romancing him.  No regrets.....just won't import them into ME3.  Actually, can't import any of my sheps now.  All my male Sheps considered Thane their Brother.

Almost every option I took with Kaidan was a renegade option. But seriously, I just wanted to punch him in the face when he took her hand and said he still cared about her. I didn't care that he was lying in a hospital bed, having only just woken up from taking the near fatal beating that was meant for her. I wanted to kill him, and the token way he dimissed the love of her life as nothing more than a casual fling didn't help. The fact that the game did it to really pissed me off. Then Thane has to die, and I ended up giving myself a bloody migraine from crying so much.

Thane's appearance in Me3 did not do justice to his portrayal. It has been said many times, even by me, but I'm still upset about it. :(

Damn. I meant to mention that on my feedback post, that Shepard got to tell Ashley off for her Horizon behavior and make known his feelings/I moved on about Miranda/Jack/Tali but all FemShep got to say was, "I never meant to hurt you?" or lie about "cheating?"

It was bloody aweful. Granted, in my case, Margurite didn't mean to hurt him, but that was because he was in the past and had absolutely no say in her future. There was no reason for him to be hurt. His leaving was his own bloody fault to.

I didn't pick the "cheating" option, but that's only because I thought the other option would have ben something else.

You know what really makes me sad about this? I'm actually acting bitter towards friends/other people because their character romances were handled so beautifully (and the scenes are just so gorgeous).

Anytime I see a screenshot of the Liara/Kaidan romance scenes I get a little ragey. This sucks, because I love those characters and want to eventually experience their relationships for myself.

At this time however, there is such a sour pall over the game because of what happened to Thane. I cannot bring myself to proceed past the point where I meet him at the hospital, I just can't.

/facepalm

This is lame.

I know Aislinn. I'm at the end of my Garrus playthrough. I stopped my ThaneShep after Mars. Just couldn't do it. The Garrus one is cute but I still feel robbed. All the time, like since ME1, that Garrus has been around and Shep still can't wake up next to him. he's in a freaking chair reading, fully dressed? Really? Cuz my HijackedShep woke up, in bed, next to Kaidan. What's with the BW hating on aliens? The lazy artists can't even render a shirtless alien?

Gaaaahhhhh!!! I still want to know what the hell they were doing for those extra 3 months!

*clears throat* sorry, lost focus.

Yep, I now have BitterShep and she hates everyone else's romance.

If they wanted a tragic end for Thane why not do this:

Save Thane by a lung transplant between ME 2 and 3 (he could change his mind about that because he is in love with Shepard and wants to help her in any way he can).
So when Shep meets him in ME 3 at the hospital he is ready to fight with Shepard against the reapers. And than later in the game let him sacrifice himself to save Shepard - of course, after a well-done romance with a wonderful romance scene :-).

That's what I would call a tragedy.

I feel the exact same way.  I didn't mind Kaidan, and then ME3 came along - he hits on Shep 3 seconds after her beloved Thane dies!  Grrrrrrrrr:pinched:  She would have renegade interrupt punched him if it had been an option.

Then I see how all the ME1 character romances were handled and I just rage all over again.

Although I will admit, after seeing some of Garrus' scenes with romanced Shep, they are VERY close to non-romanced Shep.  Like mine would never have said "there is no Shepard without Vakarian" to just a friend.  Weird.  And more proof of LAZY/POOR writing.

Par for the course. Jealousy is natural. Not lame at all.

This was a post I did on the ME2 LI facebook thread:

*A few days after ME3 was released*

Me: Jacob's been ruined, Thane is dead and un-mourned, Jack was awesome but disappeared and
Samara won't acknowledge my Shepard's undying love for her... I don't think I can take this...

Friend: Hey, Garrus is still awesome, you wanna watch some Garrus?

Me: NO, I DON'T WANNA WATCH GARRUS! THE LAST THING I NEED TO SEE IS
CALIBRATION HAPPY VAKARIAN DOING GARRUS THINGS WHILE EVERYONE ELSE IS
SUFFERING FROM SIXTEEN SHADES OF NEGLECT!

I came up with this fun squad banter while I was at work, thought I'd share:

Shepard: *sounds a bit out of breath* Hey, Thane, wait up!
Thane: My apologies, Siha.
Shepard: *surprised* You really are feeling better, aren't you?
Thane: *slight chuckle* I suppose I am.
Shepard: *seductive tone* You know, I'm not 100% convinced. When we get back to the Normandy, you should give me a full demonstration.
Thane: *amused* It would be my pleasure, Siha.
James: Man, you sure don't waste time... do you, Cobra?
Thane: *confused* ... Cobra?
Shepard: *exasperated* He's got this thing for nicknames, just roll with it.
Thane: I see.
James: What? You're not the only one who can come up with nicknames. What the hell does 'See-ha' mean, anyways?
Thane: *irritated* Siha is one of the warrior-angels of Arashu, goddess of motherhood and protection. It is a term of endearment and respect.
James: Pretty it up all you want, Cobra, but it's still a nickname.
Thane: Hmmph.

Nickname for Thane inspired by Aimo of course.  =]

LOL Been reading the PDS bits and then this one; giggling over here-glad noone else is in the room to stare at me!Image IPB Quoted this as an example, but I love everything I've read! :)

Would have been 100x better than what actually happened. Apparently our idea of tragic isn't the same as BW's...we want beautiful tragedy, if there must be tragedy at all.

I personally think Thane and Shepard had the deepest relationship out of all other LI's, at least they DID in ME2 before they completely did a 180 on his character.

Yes, it seems that our definition of tragic is another one than BWs.
For me personally it would be more tragic to see Thane die after he is cured and you have had hope to get a happy ending with him when the reapers once are defeated. And than ... he sacrifices his new won life for your Shepard. That would give his character much more depth than it already has in ME 2. And even the people who want to see him dead (for a reason I cannot understand) would get what they want.

I personally think Thane and Shepard had the deepest relationship out of all other LI's, at least they DID in ME2 before they completely did a 180 on his character.

I agree on that. They way they talk and smile when they are together in ME 2, how Shep comforts him did not let me expect the way Shep behaved in ME 3. She is so cold and emotionsless talking to Thane, who is doomed to die (she did not even bring a gift for him) but cares so much and feels so terribly sorry for Kaidan who has already fully recovered (and he gets a gift from her).
