Can I just question why absolutely no one acknowledged Thane's death? Not even Liara, who's like Shepard's therapist. I just don't understand.
I hated how after Kaidan got *injured* femShep (who had just rejected him) was so distraught about it, but when Thane, her true love, *dies*, she seems completely fine about it for the rest of the game!! The only thing that redeemed Bioware for this injustice was "That was for Thane, you son of a ****." But still. Me and my fellow fangirls needed more Thane!

Two words: They forgot.

Weekes LJ:

Yeah, I wasn't in charge of Thane, but I see Thane's death situation as one of those things that's the drawback of a large writing team. Lots of followers talk about the Citadel Event in terms of what happens with the VS, but because Thane was optional, it didn't click with any of us that the player could also have just lost a friend or loved one THERE as well. That was a dropped ball on our end.

/end

Oh, and the "That was for Thane" wasn't nearly enough everything else considered; the fact that Shepard can't tell Thane she went to Huerta to see him, can't tell Kaidan that she was with Thane and not him and didn't considering it cheating after what he said on Horizon, can't talk about Thane with anyone, can't even mourn or grieve...

I.know. I was so amazed at how disappointing that was. I mean, I loved Thane. He was such a great character, and they threw him away like he was trash!! Honestly, that made the game much less exciting for me. There's something about having an LI that makes games more enjoyable, in my opinion. And did you notice that in the entire series, the only LI that has to die no matter what you do is Thane? I find that completely unfair. We get one lousy scene with him and a few dialogue options, and then he dies. Do you think it's possible that they'll make a DLC with more stuff for Thane? I'm probably being too hopeful but, who knows.

Just finished the game. So disappointed with the Thane romance... the only saving grace being renegade shep and her bitter, cold attitude. No cost too high, no choice too callous. Death an inevitability. Anything to stop the Reapers. Everything Thane wouldn't have wanted. D;

So depressed.

I think it’s possible that they could, I just don’t know how probable it is. I would suppose that what it comes down to is how much they have hidden I their hat already planned. In the past most of the DLC content they’ve added in was character inclusive to it or only had very limited interaction with what was already in the game so even if they did I’d still fear they’d still retain what already happened in the game when it came up.

@LucyMaire

I'm very doubtful that we'll get a DLC, but we bloody well should! There should be a large DLC / Expansion that deepens the role of all the neglected ME2 squad but I think this hope will never leave the realm of dreams... BW seem to have gone way off course when it comes to trying to make a game that all of their fans can actually enjoy. There was no need for what they did to Thane or Jacob, if they could only afford to do ONE thing with the characters they should have serviced those who had invested in the LI arc rather than those who sought a tragic death. Thane living was not going to RUIN the game for anyone, neither was Jacob not cheating on Shepard. It really is a total ****** Joke.

@piisees  I feel your pain, I finished the game days ago and it still makes me feel a bit nauseous.

I'm hoping for an expansion pack that solves ALL kinds of issues - #1 being Thane's story - so underdeveloped and discarded. Like most of the ME2 characters.
I have definitely been shopping at the bitter barn.

Check my sig for the united ME2 LIs in ME3 thread - and the facebook page as well!

Bioware forgot and was lazy. They did a terrible job with Thane's death. I had no faith that they would do a good job becasue bioware doesn't do death well.

I didn't like the way Shepard was so distraught over Kaidan either. he last time she saw him it didn't go well, and she hadn't seen him for two years before that. It really didn't make much sense to me. I hated how she had to apologize for being with Thane, but Mshep doens't have to apologize to Ashley.

When she says "That was for Thane" it was nice, but it can't begin to make up for the crap they gave us.
I agree they need to fix this and give us more Thane. Thane deserves more than what they gave him.

Just a quick shot PDS.

*Perpetually Drunk Shepard lays on her stomach, spread eagle on the floor beneath the table in Life Support.  She holds a coffee mug in her hand, thumbing the rim over and over.  Javik walks in.*

Javik- "There was one with a sickness in this room."
PDS- <tears in eyes> "***K-n-A! Finally! <sniff>  You really can tell that someone had been sick here before??"
Janik- "Of course I can, you daft Primate!  I nearly stepped in it, right here next to the table!"
PDS- *takes coffee mug, begins bashing forehead repeatedly with it.*

@JECW Exactly, it's like they assumed that just because the majority of people prefer Kaidan or Ashley (which I don't understand. most boring characters in the series, in my opinion), that Shepard should be flung at Kaidan at every possible opportunity. I made it *clear* I wanted Thane, not Kaidan, but apparently Bioware didn't take that into account. I know they can't please everyone, but in this situation it wasn't that difficult. You could give us more than a single conversation with him, for one thing.
And Thane was the character who was on every Mass Effect 2 poster, in most of the trailers; he was one of the most significant, memorable characters in the game, and they just tossed him away.
Garrus knew Thane. Joker knew Thane. Tali knew Thane. Liara knew Thane. Did any of them mention him at all? No. But when Shepard went to do any other mission involving another tossed aside ME2 character, they would all comment on it. It's bull****.
I honestly think I'm preparing myself for disappointment, hoping there will be some sort of DLC that will fix this. But I will never forgive Bioware if there isn't.

@wildannie SO TRUE. We obviously liked the character a lot, otherwise we wouldn't have romanced him. And I think Thane had a pretty steady support group on BSN though obviously not as high as Liara or Garrus. So it was just cheap what they did. I was looking forward to having some new conversations with Thane, when I got that email from him I was so excited I squealed like a crazy fangirl. And then there was one. lousy. conversation. I kept going back to the Citadel, hoping there would be at least one new converstion, but nothing. They completely ripped us off.

This is about all the dialogue that happened between Shepard and Thane.

Thane: Keprals.
Shepard: Kaidan.

LOL....Okay, Uncle.  I give.  Just thought I would mix in some of the crapstastic dialogue for Thane/Shep into some PDS.  Screw it, I'll just make it up.Posted Image

Sorry, I just saw this.  I have it recorded, if you'll give me a bit I'll put it together and upload it.

@ThaneDLC: I shouldn't have to pay for what should have obviously been included in the game.

The line with Kai Leng was not enough. I got: "That was for Thane and Miranda, you son of a ****." Why is there no special dialogue? What kind of evil villain doesn't mock the death of the hero's lover? Why can't Shepard lay it on TIM for targeting Thane? rwar... so much rage.

So much this!  BTW, thank you for letting me know about the vid.  One problem (@cold says, sheepishly) I can't bring myself to watch any of the ME3 Thane stuff yet.......I know, I know, I'm a big baby.  Posted Image

I do really appreciate it though.  However, if you run across or recall any specific lines used by Shep or Thane from ME3, feel free to pass them my way.Posted Image

I sent a few msgs while you were incarcerated, but I suspect they never got past the guards

The human biotic in intensive care. He seems an honorable sort.

*paragon interrupt* I see you want to make up for lost time

Hmm there's a lot of typing lol. I could turn on Subtitles you could mute the audio and just read them? :)

I was playing ME3 MP this afternoon and I unlocked a Drell Adept. I know Thane would be more of a Drell Infiltrator but it just was fun to equip my adept with a sniper and semi automatic pistol. LOL

I keep thinking of this line from ME2.

“Time for me is short, siha, but any I have is yours to take.”

It was nice playing MP with the drell adept. I dressed him to look like Thane. I know, crazy but it felt good.

Wow that is exactly what I did right after he died.... It's kind of sad. We don't have enough Thane in the game so we have to pretend we're playing as him in MP.

I figured that was Hackett and Anderson's fault, so I raged and vowed someone would pay for that.  Didn't get my chance with Hackett but didn't mind that TIM gained control of me and had me shoot Anderson, I would have done it willingly.

The human biotic in intensive care. He seems an honorable sort.

No, he's a leg humping troll.  No need to watch over him, I'm going to shoot him the first chance I get.  Then I did right when he decided he was going to protect Udina.

*paragon interrupt* I see you want to make up for lost time

Yes I do.  Oh yes I do but unfortunately the writers forgot that we were in love.  Forgets the writers, waits until Thane's back is turned, tackles him, throws him over my shoulders and carries him onto the Normandy.

Reign of terror did not end.  Killed Kai Leng and TIM they were both responsible.  Not enough EMS, too distraught over the mishandling of Thane, didn't have enough EMS to save Earth, not even enough to allow it be devastated, it was annihilated.  (This was my first playthrough...my second one Joker, James and Garrus got left in Paradise with no women).  So, I managed to knock off EVERY ONE of my remaining squad members.  Nobody got off the Normandy in that ending.  Finally incinerated Liara's plot armor though.

And now back to, "As the Universe Turns and Craps on Perpetually Drunk Shepard (and her Kepral...I mean Drell boyfriend)."

*Perpetually Drunk Shepard walks into the War Room.*

EDI- "You have an incoming message from Admiral Anderson."
PDS-"k....."
*PDS stands there making rude gestures to the Primark....because she can! What's it to ya!*
EDI- "Perhaps you wish to take th__"
PDS- "Blah....whatever.  I'll go talk to that sillly Entanglement telephone thingy.  Happy?!?"
*PDS walks over to the Entanglement telephone thingy.  A holographic image of Admiral Anderson appears.*
Admiral Anderson- "Commander.  We have word of an Asari delegate that needs your assistance.  Their ship was in range of one of our Cruisers, and we picked up a distress signal.  Get this right, Shep, and this could be the move that secures the Asari's help against the Reapers."
*PDS scrounges around the Com panel, and produces a bottle of Absinthe....woooo, pretty.  Green.*
PDS- "Howw come you never gave me any of the letters my lover sent me???  SIX MONTHS YOU BASTART!!  Didja think he wass a spyy, or sumthin?  Or what.....ya gotta thing for me, huh.....like wat you see, hmmm?"
*PDS takes a swig from the bottle (spilling much down the front of her N7 Hoodie), starts unzipping her jacket.  Woops, she forgot to put on a bra today......and a shirt.  She can't pull the hoodie completely off her though.....she hasn't let go of the bottle.  PDS starts spinning in a circle, desparate to figure out why she can't take of her jacket.*
Admiral Anderson- "Jebus H Chrisp, Shepard!  What the Hell has gotten into you?!?!?!"
*At that moment Garrus and Kaidan walk in; mouth's agape."
Admiral Anderson- "Collect yourself, woman.  You two.  Get her dressed and sobered up.  Get your arses over to the Terminus Sector, and save those Asari.  Anderson, out!"
Garrus- "I.....have no words. You?
Kaidan- "She's losing it."  <head tilts to the side> "Kinda sexy though."
Garrus- "I'm gonna pretend I didn't hear that.......<whistling>"
Thane in Hallucination Form- "Amonkira reveals them.  And to think I said I would protect you....you son of b***h."

*EDIT*
a word with two meanings.....sensored....watever.Posted Image
