Lurker says hi!

Here to show my Thane support, I really hope were not treated to an unavoidable death-bed scene in ME3. My Shep's very willing to make sacrifices for Thane, hopefully nothing unreasonable like say, save a planet or save Thane, but...

Actually that reminds me (I'm sure this has been discussed before but); I tend to think about just curing Thane but curing Kepral's would mean so much more - saving a slowly dying people, basically. I doubt they would give us a sidequest to save a single squadmate but, what if there was a choice to save the drell or save another species, one that Shepard has no/less of a personal attachment to? That would be kind of like the Virmire choice on a much larger scale and would fit what we know about ME3. I doubt we're getting that, though, for one I can't think of what that other species could be...

All I want is a choice. To not have Thane be the only Bioware LI ever to die without being able to do anything about it. But I'd happily settle for a treatment prolonging his life beyond the end of ME3, so everyone can make up their own ending. With the '6-12 months' bit, it looks like he really has to get some kind of treatment if he's going to live to see the endgame.

EDIT: Er, top of the page... no pics to offer...

I liked Thane a lot, however I'd like to see him depart in a moment of great gravitas rather than be magically cured through some side quest do dad.

I'd like to see Thane givin a humble send off in a moment akin to what happened to Doc Holiday at the end of Tombstone. "Shepard, if you ever my friend, you'll walk away and not come back."

I don't mind him dying in ME3. If he were to die, I hope he takes out a few Reapers with him. My LI would feel bad if it were to happen.

I think he has to be pretty sick in ME3 at least to the point where he can't do what he use to anymore... if he's still able to kill people like the old days than that terminal incurable illness would seem like it was forgotten.

I'm holding out for a compromise on his illness- the mythical lung transplant.

It's not a cure- it would merely slow down the inevitable, since the Kepral's has spread to other organs- but it would make him viable in game. You have to think, if he's alive, he's needed. For Thanemancers, that need might include nocturnal duties (such as they are >.>) but regardless, Shepard needs a badass fighter/crack shot to help keep the hellhounds at bay, as it were. Whatever moral/personal objections he might have, or had have, the need to save the galaxy would probably override that. He has Kolyat to consider, if nothing else.

While it would be nice if his disease was magically cured or at least delayed. I would be okay with him dying. Just as long as Bioware can make me cry like a sap when it happens.

It has to be badass and right in the midst of battle and then once the fray is over and the dust is cleared, Shepard says her goodbyes to him and continues on. And then at the end of the game take his body to Kahje so that he may be taken to the sea to reunite with his wife.

Good point, Thane's surely going to be able to save more lives alive than the one person he beats to a lung transplant if he lives, and that person might still get one.

There are just so many reasons for him to take treatment.  Also the treatment available is valid and saves countless lives in the real world so it seems strange to me that some think this would somehow 'ruin' his character in the ME universe.  I don't like storylines that make sick people expendable.

I hope he's cured, but I can accept him still being ill and dying. I just want my Kaidan-Thane-Shep triangle resolved satisfactorily.

This too. I can't wait to see how Kaidan will react to Thane, but I hope it gets resolved peacefully. I'm tired of having to take sides for the risk of someone's loyalty <_<

I really hope that Shepard gets to close Kaiden down on any question of her having been 'unfaithful'. If Horizon wasn't bad enough... that email...'maybe...I don't know...? Seriously? are you havin' a laugh boy??

I think I only have one or two who were 'faithful'.

I confrontation between Thane and Kaiden could be great, I'd expect it to be quite calm though with Thane showing his feelings mostly through his body language and a slightly altered tone of voice.

With good writing the confrontation could be very interesting. I'm looking forward to seeing it. That's one of the reasons I made an unloyal playthrough. I wanted t see how Bioware handles this, and if there really will be serious consequences.

That would be "Reflections" and yes, as far as I can tell, it plays most often during Thane's romance but all LI's have it playing during their final romance scene.

Thane has to be cured. With the technology that exists there must be something someone can do about it. Mordin comes to mind for example. I think that Thane is already going to be cured at the beginning of me3. And it’s not like Bioware doctors have to come up with a real cure. The only thing it needs is a convincing argument for why it now exists.

And Thane needs to be a permanent squady. I don't see him having anything more important to do than watching his Siha’s ass.

I agree 51ha, 100%. I want Thane cured and there at the final moment the Reapers are killed. I want to see him and Shepard swagger off into the sunset. Give me my HEA ending! :D

I would prefer if Thane's cure isn't related to Mordin's survival. Our favorite Salarian has a quite high diying rate in the SM :(

Given the LotSB dossiers, a transplant is more than likely and we don't need Mordin for that.

Not sure if Bioware is going to adress any other way to cure him ( and his species ), since the Genophage pretty much covers the whole "save a whole species by curing the disease thats killing them". Having such similar subplots in the very same game doesn't look like a good idea :?

Pretty much the same for me.

I know we'll see Thane in ME3 and really, I'm just a little excited at having to find him.  He's going to know Shepard's on Earth and know something's up when Earth suddenly goes silent (that's assuming the Reapers reap like before and take out communications first).   I'd imagine he's going to be looking for Shep as much as Shep is looking for him.  Can't head off to do the impossible without your other half!

Also, Thane for squadmate in ME3!  (Great thread title Rheia and thanks for making the OP Tasha!)

If Cerberus can bring Shepard back from the dead, someone should be able to do something about Kepral's syndrome. That's my opinion. Haha. :)

I've a 'wait and see' policy. I'm of a mind that having Thane simply succumb to Kerpal would be an anticlimatic end to his story arc, and I've faith that Bioware will deliver with the character.

Going to be idealistic till proven otherwise :).

There is little info pertaining to Thane in ME3 so far, but I will update it when we do ;)
Also, added the vids, thanks Rheia and Chewin! Gonna add some more banners now.

I think that Thane has the most suspense in his story arc out of all the characters. The only other character that may come close is Kasumi and the fate of the greybox if it was opened.

In my head, this means that Thane must have a prominent (at least temporary) role in ME3. And hopefully, a large part of ME3 will at least have Thane on the Normandy loveboat with his Siha. ;)

Just dropping by to show my full support for Thane in ME3.
Whether he lives, dies or just stays in a hospital the entire game, it will be fascinating and joyous to see him again.

A separate mission would be nice, but perhaps some kind of prolonged side mission stretched along other several major (and possibly side) missions? like helping Ish on Omega or speaking with Conrad in ME1?

I agree.
If they can bring Shepard back then Thane's illness shouldn't be a problem.

I don't have a problem with a way to prolong his life like the transplant. I would be fine with that too.  I just want him on my squad permanently. The game just won't be the same for me if he isn't around.

Heh, I'm going to be honest and say I sort of want drama, because I find romantic drama lulzy as all hell and could use the laugh. Mostly because I'm hoping to troll Kaidan on my canon renegon Shepard.

I'm interested in seeing how they portray all the romantic conflicts, but Thane's interests me because he doesn't come off as particularly aggressive most of the time- the whole 'cold confidence' thing. Hopefully BioWare doesn't go the cop-out route with him. You know, 'I'm dying and I'll totally understand if you want to be with someone else.' Pfft. I don't want/need 'roid raging angstbucket Thane, but you know... just... something.

Real eloquent there...

On the non-romance side, I'd like to see Thane have some philosophical talks on the state of the universe with Shepard. My brothers both play male Sheps but they still enjoy talking to/chilling with Thane; one of them uses him in-game almost as often as I do.
