Ugh random people saying, just, No, with no comments or reasons, and obviously ignoring all the other points

Makes me want to answer sharply.

Kai Leng is the worst assassin ever. He's not even scary. He has an interesting character design, but he never 'struck me with fear', so to speak. I found him annoying more than anything else. When he killed Thane, however, I did get a little bit of vengeance mode/tunnel vision on him.

I remember just continuously blasting him in the face with my Black Widow, even though I knew he wasn't getting hurt during the shield recharge.

He didn't seem to have any good lines, either. I wanted him to be more biting, insulting, conniving and intelligent. None of those traits really manifested.

Since he's a big fat racist, I thought it would have been cool if he had insulted your Shepard in some way if you were in a romance with an alien (Thane, Tali, Garrus, Liara, whatever). The Illusive Man would surely know about this, since he spied on you for the entirety of ME2.

He was kind of a waste.
I would think that with all his training he would have been more of a challenge.

I know how you feel. Most people don't care unless it affects them and they didn't romance him so it was no big deal to them. It reminds me of an amusing signature I saw here on the BSN which basically says:

First they came for Kaidan and Ashley, and I didn't speak out because I was on Team Dextro.
Then they came for Liara. and I didn't speak out because I was hoping for Kasumi LI DLC.
Then they came for Jacob and Thane, and I didn't speak out because I don't play FemShep.
Then they came for me and there was no ending where I could build Tali a house on Rannoch.

D:  His treatment in ME3 is basically a big sign that says: "I am my illness" therefore that is all we will talk about before I die.

His character development? Tossed out a window.

No one will forget. They all forgot who he was. That's why he was never mentioned.
I'm starting to think that we know Thane better than the people who created him.

Freaking Awesome Hanar! THIS is what we wanted! *decisive nod*

Also: Bleh. I'm soaked. I feel so extra lardy when my clothes are plastered to me. :( Rain's let up for now but it won't last I don't think. Roads out of town are already cut, and the roads around where I live (which is kinda like a little island round these times) are all partially cut.

THIS IS NOT GOOD DRELL WEATHER! (Seriously, I was thinking that all morning).

Shell, you want me to grab a butterfly net to catch you when you blow over?

Angie, how could you! I would never do that to our darling Thane! Also, is it wrong that I kinda want a photo of that? Where's Xenofire when we need him? But yeah, computer and stuffed animal? Totally. My LIFE is on Alistair, and Thane plushie is, well, a Thane Plushie!

Thanks to everyone, but I'll be find. And I finally heard from everyone, and they're all okay for now. Just watching the strom front forming north of them to see what's going on there.

ON TOPIC:

I also expected Kai Leng to be far more intimidating than he is. As he is at the moment he's just a better dressed Frankinfurter. Rather a joke really. Which make's Thane's defeat even more of an insult. I haven't seen Kai Leng in action in the books yet, but somehow I don't think he'll be any better.

Yeah, if Thane was at 100%, or hell, even 50% or 40%, maybe even 30%, of what he was, Kai Leng would have been nothing but a splatter of red and black muck on the floor.

I too, am now wishing to speak harshly to those who dismiss Thane as the embodiment of his disease.

The guy who created him (or at the very least put the most work into him) has no say over him anymore. I can't say for sure if things would be better if Chris L'Etoile had stuck around to continue writing Thane in ME3 (afterall he'd still need to answer to people higher up than himself). Maybe Thane would be a more consistent character if Chris had been around? Maybe Chris would have remembereed that he was a love interest?

I just don't know.

Edit: ninja'd!

Yeah, Kai Leng...the dork hiding behind the air ship. What a joke.

@Mythi...mate, you'll need something bigger than a butterfly net.

@Visii...okay, you got me there.

And I had a vision:

conference table at bw (whose name shall never be appropriately capitalised again)

Oh ****...We forgot Thane was romanceable...
Oh damn...Jacob too!

shocked silence

sudden uncontrollable laughter

Silly fans

He is still one of their characters. They should all have at least some knowledge about him, but they just forgot.
They put him on the cover of ME2, and he was in most of the advertisments for the game. Now they treat him as if he doesn't even matter.

Maybe. I was kinda prepared. I knew he was going to be on a death bed and I knew he had to fight this "best assassin in the galaxy" (bah). Their fight was a total let down.. Wanted a Raiden vs Vamp like showdown (MGS4). Ehhh.. My shep would not just stand there!.. I was not let down with the death scene though, it was so much better than I expected. Never did play femshep so no idk anything about the romance, but it did affect me and hopefully everyone else. Thane's my bro! Go Thane!

guys, I hate to say this, but we are getting a bit out of control. there are now like 4 or 5 active treads all about the bad treatment of Thane. I KNOW, I hate it too, but. come on we need to come up for air. people that did not romance Thane will just not get it and not understand why we are angry. no amount of shouting at them is going to make them understand. We need to condense this to one or two threads. because people will start complaining soon and threads will be locked. and I really do not want to lose this thread......I already lost thane...four times..

If you don't go talk to Thane I know he doesn't end up fighting Kai Leng, and he still dies. Do you still get the death scene with him. I haven't tried it myself.

You don't get a death scene at all, I'm not sure if his name still appears on the Memorial Board though.
