I just had some time to think without being distracted and got an idea how to make the romance in ME 3 a little bit better and touchier (okay, this, of course, is not too difficult, I know):

Here come my thoughts:

Shep gets Thanes PN, immediately rushes to the Citadel to see him. When meeting Thane at the patient lounge they hug, share a passionate kiss, telling they missed each other so much, maybe saying "I love you". After this there could be some dialog about what happened in last 6 month and about Thanes bad condition.
Now Shep wonders if there would be a chance for some "privacy" but Thane regrets - he feels to weak. So Shep says it is okay for her and comes up with her gift: She hands him a snowdome which in fact here is a sanddome because it shows a desert.

Shep: I promised you to bring you to a desert. And I always keep my promises.**gives him the sanddome**

Thane: **looks at it, maybe remembers the scene where they talked about the desert in ME 2, smiles with tears in his eyes - she didn't forget. Instead of answering he kisses her softly. **

Shep: Maybe there is a way we can have our privacy. You can recall your memories of our first night together and me ... **first kisses, then licks his breast** ... can have this to get my moments.
**now the player has the choice to wether see Thanes memories of the night before the Omega 4 relay with a complete romance scene or Sheps halluzinations about having their romantical scene - both scenes done the way ones for the VS LI scenes are**.

Well, that are my thoughts. Hope you like it and don't think I am crazy.

I liked your idea. :)

I think we're all crazy. Most of the best people are. XD Okay too much Alice in Wonderland...

Thane and a desert. How could they have missed that, really? Posted Image

Wow go to bed and BAM!  So many posts!
@myth - glad to hear you're ok!
@coldwetn0se - still LOVING the PDS, and I agree with your earlier post about people everywhere dealing with loss, illnesses etc.  When I posted on the Cure Thane - aye or nay thread, I mentioned that everyone everywhere with cancer better suck it up - they ARE cancer, and death is imminent.  Give up now as you have lost your identity - disease it is!!  BARF.

As for KL - useless.  Terribly designed.  He's the stereotypical "asian" assassin.  I mean really?  It's how many years into the future and the only person that can wield a katana is an asian guy?  There is originality.  And I HATE his Kanye West dress thing, his mardi gras mask and his cheesy lines.  If he was so spectacular and worth TIM saving, why have we never heard of him before?  Useless.
Sorry - I'm PO'd today at several things, one of which is ME3 and ANOTHER rave review from a critic (Game guy at Globe and Mail - national paper here in Canada).  Perhaps he's just liking it because Bioware is Canadian and he's supporting the peeps?  His last line just ticked me off - he thinks that fans aren't actually upset at the endings - just that it's over.  Um, no, they are ticked at the endings.  Posted ImageWTF??  Ugh.

Ok, back on topic!!
@Hainkpe - I wondered how they missed the desert thing too - seemed like a no brainer, and would have gone a long way to ease some of the pain that is the current experience with Thane.
And as for the DLC in Life Support - he/she will have to kick my Shep out of there first - I'd like to see them try.  Posted Image

LOL That .gif above!! :P I've been thinking of precisely that EXACT same scene for days now!! It's exactly how it should have been-Kai Leng makes me think of a Tekken wannabe/the guy who stole Nightwing's mask, lol, I can't take him seriously at all!!:o

This is a great idea, Eliza. Well, I'm not too keen on the memory/hallucination bit, because, dammit, my Margurite just wanted to take him down to the Commons and sit with him by the lake! Why was that to much to ask, bw? But that sandglobe thing.... just beautiful. I can imagine crying over that. :)

Hi Angie! Yeah I'm okay. Worst of it seems to have skirted us for now. Townsville though looks almost as bad in parts as it did when Cyclone Yasi came through. :S

Anyhoo, off to bed. It's after midnight here and I've got to try to get back to everyone else's sleeping hours instead of my own. :(

That's a wonderful idea.  It would convey so much more, and provide more closure than what we got.  And it's not actually that much more screen time or fundamentally changes what they've already done.  BW are you listening??

LOL I want to know how you think he would behave while he did that. Would he be animated? Raise his voice? Or would he be calm? Total speculation, yes but interesting conversation nonetheless. And why would you think that?

First I must  explain that my shepard have been  so chocked  about kaidan  reactions on Horizon in ME2 that she  would  avoid  him  in anyways possible. She  deleted his mail of  "apologising but not much" and  the only good thing  about the alliance  stealing MY normandy (theirs have exploded  long ago) was they  removed his  face down  picture.
SO  she   snaped at him  on Earth  the day she was being   interogated and she snapped at him every time she had  to speak to him. Dense Kaidan as he is   couldn't take it clear  so he  would continue to  look at her with  deer  eyes.
She   was only interested in running to the  citadel hospital when she got  Thane's  mail and she  have not gone see Kaidan. She had turned the page. So in eventuality of Thane joining the crew she would even  offering Thane  to  come in her  room, and of course  Kaidan would feel  he had something to say:

-Kaidan: "Sooo what   do you mean when calling Shepard Siha? I have been  told you have been  close  before she got  jailed?(jealous trying to  get info)
Thane, who was standing  hands  in  back looking the wall of honor, turn to face him with his poker face and  answer cooly:
-Thane: It is  something you should discuss with Shepard isn't it ?

Kaidan  feel the dread  invade his heart, and  start to feel pissed he  could not get his answer. Insecurity lead him to  stupid things like always.
-Kaidan: It is  You I'm asking  this, not Shepard. What are you trying to obtain? You are  ill, is that what you  think is  good for  her? To be with a crippled  Drell for the  end of her time? Do you even know  how much she  is fragile behind her hardened commander  face ?? I knew her   first! What did you do for her anyway?

Thane have hidden his  amusement  and  checked if his jacket collar was properly put while he listened the silly human making a fool of himself. Wich annoyed more Kaidan who  made one step in the direction to Thane, pointing a finger to him.
-Kaidan:Why don't you  answer to me? You don't even care enough  for her to defend  your place at her side ?

Thane didn't move and  let a  smile tug at the corner of his  mouth:
-Thane: I don't have to "defend my place" at her side.
-Kaidan: Why she is caring for such a  cold   being like you is beyond my mind!
-Thane: that I agree with you.
-Kaidan: Glad you finally admi...Wait..you agree on what part ?
-Thane: Wich one you prefer to believe?

Angry Kaidan lose it all and  try to  punch  Thane,  who just  dodge easyly the fist by slightly steping on side.
-Thane: I would not try this  M.Alenko, you could  get injured again.
-Kaidan: get injured AGAIN? Are you  trying to  ****** me off ? That's it!
Kaidan is beyond control and start to glow  one hand blue to attack again Thane  with biotic charge.

-Thane: tss  all this is  waste of time and all time I have is for my Siha.

The words of "my siha" hit  Kaidan badly and  make him fumble a little  bit while  attacking .
he  arrive where Thane was standing a second ago to find it   empty. Surprise written on his face he  turn himself back  trying to  find the assasin. before he could  do anything more, Thane  suddenly appeared behind himan arm snaked around his  throat, applying enough pressure to stop him from  emit a sound and  keep him semi conscient.
He  spoke with a calm, low  voice, close to  Kaidan's ear,  his  deep rumbling  imprinting  his words in his skin:
-Thane: So you want answers MR. Alenko? I will tell you what you need to know  only once so listen carefully:
You have lost your  right to protect Shepard long time ago when you let her  die alone on this  ship, in place to put her on your shoulder  and  got her into an escape pod.
You have burried the last  hope of redemption after this, in yelling at her on Horizon and failing her when she most needed  allies. Ask yourself the size of your sentimental involvement with her for turning your supposed  love,    down, without listening her.
When aliens  like Garrus Vakarian and Tali zora vas Normandy have  joined her  as soon they  recognised her.
I have been here for her when she needed. She  have awaken me from my  war trance. She  helped  me in reuniting with my son. She helped me to atone for my bads. She is my warrior angel. Even if she didn't want me  in her life  anymore I would carry her in my heart  for ever and even after. And I would still protect all of her,  her  body and her soul till my last sparckle of life.
Feeling the tension in Kaidan  leaving, he released a little bit his pressure on the carotid and added:
-Thane: Shepard is not an object to own. Her choices are to be respected.
Kaidan  did a strange garggled  noise when Thane  released  him and felt  on the floor, panting and  feeling all deezy.
-kaidan: ok you've made your point.
But Thane was gone already.

@saodade - I would LOVE to see that!!  I always thought a showdown with those two would be interesting to say the least!  Partly because of Thane's calm demeanor, and Kaidan's whiny arrogance.
And don't forget to post here - it's a united thread for ALL the ME2 romances that were so poorly handled!
And the facebook page too!

If they came out with a brand new squadmate DLC, instead of giving us back some of the old ones...

Well, I'd probably just shake my head and put away ME3 on a permanent basis.

If they put said squadmate in Life Support, I'd rage and break something.

Are they trying to be funny?
What is with these stupid jokes, and I would be pissed if they gave us another DLC squadmate. I want Thane back.

I rewatched ME2's Blur trailer and was hit with concurrent waves of nostalgia and depression. Thane was featured so prominently and he was AMAZING. He pulled off all those slick moves and was just so damn badass. I was hit with the full force of how much I MISS him. Makes me want to play through ME2 again just to experience some of my favorite moments again (like his recruitment mission/introduction) but it'd probably make me sadder.

Why did it have to end like this? ;_;

Hey Thanemancers. I wanted to drop in here and say I'm sorry that you didn't get the cure and/or romance you were hoping for. I surprised myself by feeling nostalgic when walking into an empty life support room. Thane's death scene made me cry and I was truly more upset than I thought I would be. I hope it's a small comfort that he died a hero's death instead of wasting away slowly. I'm glad that he was content, in the end. His prayer for Shepard was extremely touching. *hugs everyone*

Thank you for the kind words.  We wish for much more, and hope that ALL ME2 romances get better treatment.  More choices means more replayability, means more money with the continued IP, good business.  ME is still a RPG, even if it isn't as heavy or typical.

I'm going to post the following here, because I might get my arse kicked if I posted this just about anywhere else.  Hope this doesn't offend anyone.

Over the past two days, I have been reading some of the retorts from posters who think Thane had to die, went out like a "badass", cool death scene, blah blah barf......and I have started to consider something. (Not just about the post I made yesterday regarding age, sheltered and priviledged people.)  From things a lot of them post, I really think they are mostly just "gamers".  People who really play the ME trilogy for the combat and gameplay.  I'm not saying they don't care about the storyline, but their only real focus is on the Main story arc, and how it relates to gameplay.  Personally, I have no problem with however people wish to play these games, but why on earth (if I am right) would they bother those of us who enjoy the RP aspect of these games as much (if not more, sometimes) as the combat/gameplay.  Choices and customization do not limit their ability to continue to play this game as they are, and they would still benefit from more choices; added content.  With added content often comes more combat/gameplay.  A win-win for all.

Eh, haven't a clue if I'm making sense......need more coffee....and banana bread......ooooh lunch!

Totally agree.  How does it hurt anyone if we are provided with more choices?  Especially if it leads to more quality content?

Bioware, if you want, I'll kill a million Brutes myself to cure Thane.  I got teh skillz.  Just stick my Shep on a multiplayer map and I'll have at it.  I'll solo a gold Reaper game.. whatever..

Actually makes me wonder why exactly they are playing this RolePlayingGame instead of some FPS. I love playing some of the available FPS, but I can keep it in perspective. An RPG is an entirely different creature. Aren't you meant to be totally immersed, thereby creating your own personal relationship with these characters? Am I playing it wrong? I really love some characters and want to airlock others (damn plot armours). Is there another way to play an RPG?

@ Aislinn - Damn straight! I would do it to....and poor Shep would die a lot! It would end up looking like poor Baldur in Too Human; I sent that poor boy to Valhalla so many times I lost count. BUT, I would still do it!!!!

@mnomaha - I'm with you....maybe we're playing it wrong...HA! Bah, just give us more choice, damnitt!

I think everything you are saying is true. They just refuse to see anyone elses side but their own.
You bring up choice and how everyone wins and they ignore it. It's like you're talking to a brick wall.

@Aislinn
I would do that over and over and over again they would give us back Thane.

@Aislinn - if you play on 360 - I'm in!

And @cold - I agree with you. I played MP a few nights ago and got on a team where two of the "boys" sounded about 15, and all they cared about was getting the objectives done in under 2 minutes to watch "the credits roll" - so yes, basically FPS style. Also, the characters in most BW games aren't kids, so maybe they have a harder time relating? I know if the protagonist was a 15 year old boy, I'd probably skip the game.

Oh, and Savvid told me I could use this for a t-shirt - so I'm thinking I'm going for it!
