Hey, I'm delurking here because I've just finished ME3 and I still can't understand what happened, or better, what didn't happen with the character of Thane.
I truly understand your pain. I've romanced him once, I loved him overall as a characters.

And I have to admit I read months before the leaked spoiler. I knew he had to die, though I always hoped that somehow, someway, there could be an hidden way to save him till the end of the events of ME3 at least. Would have been THAT hard to have him around the hospital or the Normandy, so we could talk to him or have some comments now and then as the story progressed?
And then we come to the moment of his death. I was hoping at least to have that scene in the script, where he remembers the night with Shepard and he dies in her arms...
But no. Where was that scene? It was sad, it could tear my heart apart, but it was so fitting. If he had to die during the events of the game, that was a vastly superior scene.
Honestly, lovers or friends, my Shepards would have remained with him, why the hell we didn't even get the choice to leave someone with him, at the very least.
The scene at the hospital was maybe good for a friendly path. But what made me sad was not he scene per se, but the thought "And that is all for Thane in ME3? Nothing I could have done before? No more dialogues, nothing at all, and this is how it ends?". Yeah, the fight with Kai Leng was pretty epic but...even here, couldn't there be some kind of interrupt, maybe if Thane was loyal or given some specific dialogue choices, to avoid his death? Maybe he was wounded but not mortally and we could visit him again?

And then, after his death...as if nothing happened, Shepard walks away and goes shopping in the CItadel. Not really, but you get the point. I looked at the screen, hoping some dialogue would follow. Some comment from the companions, Garrus maybe? But no, no one notices he died.
Yeah, his name is on the wall, but even when Garrus is there we only mention Ashley and Mordin? The hell, I didn't even like Ashley.
I can perfectly understand if some of you hated the game which not-so-subtly pushed you toward Kaidan. I love Kaidan, my canon Shep is loyal to him from ME1, but from the point of view of a Shepard who romanced Thane is just horrible.

Anyway, I know I just said things which where said before...I just needed to vent somehow and tell you that I perfectly understand you and support your cause :)

Thanks for the support Dunizel and thanks for de-lurking!!  And I agree with you on Ashley - there was a reason I Virmire'd her!

I signed as well, I suppose we'll have to keep posting the link for any newcomers or occasional forumites to get as many signatures possible.

Thanks for taking the time to post Dunizel, it's always good to hear from another Thane fan. All of us love Thane deeply, what ME3 did to him is hard to stomach. Especially how they tried to just breeze over his death the rest of the game. Hopefully with all the action we're taking against his treatment in ME3, bw will address our anguish and...give us an awesome Thane DLC :D No matter what happens, we won't go quietly.

Never! Even if they don't give us a DLC, they'll sorely regret it.

Maybe we should make it a TOP (top of page) thing...

Had the KL-Thane scene today and was wondering why Thane could fight the way he did but was not able to go to a more romantic place (like the Apollo's) with Shepard to talk or maybe go to an apartment for a more private moment.
That makes no sense for me.

It doesn't make sense to anyone who romanced him. :(

Because Bioware is lazy and for some reason forgot Thane was an LI.
It makes no sense at all to anyone.

It's funny how they "forgot" he was a LI and still made SOME changes to the dialogue if he was romanced. I think the proper word is "didn't care."

No sense anywhere at all.

And why did Shep not ask him about Kolyat?
As LI she should be concerned about his son and how the two get along.

Because apparently FemShep was only using Thane for some sexy drell time. She didn't care about him. Even if you wanted her to care about him, it's not up to you. Bioware will decide who you want to romance!

No kidding....but I like green and I like drells.  But they want me to like blue and humans.  Too bad, my Sheps are protesting.  They have staged a sit-in inside Life Support.

uhhuh <nods repeatedly>  Don't even get me started on the Kolyat thing.  I ALWAYS imagined that my Thane luvin' Sheps would be VERY concerned about Kolyat.  Not just for his father's relationship with him, but also for his physical well being!!!!  Like, get the Hell away from the Citadel, and any system over run with reapers...or better yet....get your bony ass one the Normandy NOW!  They couldn't have considered that some people might be concerned for the boy....especially since Thane had to die (bw jungle gods demanded non-virginal/drell sacrifice....derp)Posted Image.  WTF?!?!

Bioware probably forgot Thane had a son, or they just didn't think any of our Shepards would be concerned about Kolyat as well.

Bioware--designs beautiful character named Thane and an interesting new species. Makes said character romanceable, puts a lot of effort into the dialogue. Has an entire quest revolved around saving his son, Kolyat. Provides hints about this man getting a cure and being able to experience happiness for one of the few times in his life.
They did all of this so...we could feel more personally angry towards a lame assassin who kills him?
At the same time, completely disregarding the entire drell race? That was both beautiful and interesting?
Makes perfect sense.

Yes, that's exactly how it seems to be. Even how the line about the "private time" is delivered gives me that impression. At first I thought it would be a mistake of the German voice actor and so I changed to English but here it is the same.
So it must be intentional.:o And that's not fair, I think.
Especially the Shep-Thane romance in ME 2 never seemed to work only on a physical level for me - there was much more.

Why not make the romances with ME LIs only a physical thing? Oh, of course, that's impossible, they never would do that with Kaidan, Ash, Liara, Garrus or Tali (and they never would let them die with no chance at all to save them).

Exactly. That would never happen to the other ME1 characters. (They're the ones with the loudest fans, therefore they're the most important.)

Apparently BW misread my Shep's intentions. Kaidan was a physically only relationship, I admit it, I only did it for the achievement. My Shep was such a jerk, selfish and uncompromising. Now, along comes ME2, she's pissed off that someone else played God with her life. For that, she's a real witch, she was putting ME1 Shep to shame. This Shep was also a hypocrite, she can play God but no-one else can. She goes to Horizon and there is Kaidan, on his high horse (or so she seems to think), now she's not even mad anymore, she's worse...indifferent. She wants to shoot him but figures time will allow that. Shep swears off men, she's done, physical only relationships too. She's just done. This is really how I was playing it. Then comes Illium, who should Shep pick up first The Assassin or The Justicar. Let's go get the Assassin, Shep needs an assassin. She gets up there and there is that witch Nassana...heh heh, I remember you, I keeeeled your sister. Shep's a jerk to her, of course.

Then comes the most amazing thing ever, the best thing she's ever seen. This was the boss of all entrances. She takes one look at him and the breath is literally knocked out of her. She has a big crush immediately. Darn it, she swore off men. Keep it professional Shep. She gets him on the ship and talks to him. She's hypnotized by his voice, his words, she's still a bit catty toward him though. She needs to keep that distance, no more men. Regardless, she takes him everywhere. He's awesome, she stares at him while he's moving around the battlefield, a few critical mission failures happen. Dang it Shep, pay attention. She helps him with Kolyat and somewhere along the way, she forgot her "no men" rule. She fell for him.

Not only did she fall with the thud that would put a meteor to shame, she softened. She stopped being such a jerk. She was still a jerk but she balanced it out more. She's in love and she didn't really see it coming, it snuck up on her. Then comes the Omega 4, best night ever for her. Now she is glad Cerberus rebuilt her. After her best night ever, she's standing in front of TIM with a silent smugness, smirk and puppy eyes. TIM's talking and all she is thinking, "mmmmm, that drell, I lovers him." SM, success. She goes and does the glorious DLC that was released and then keeps Thane up in her cabin for cuddles.

Then comes ME3...ugh, somewhere BW forgot that my Shep was NOT in love with Kaidan but in love with Thane. She's so heartbroken that she slips into deep denial and acts like ME3 NEVER happened.

Yeah, and the fact they don't respond to us. They don't even acknowledge our presence.

I personally respond to the news articles that aren't glaring in their biased (funded) views and give my .02 worth.

That makes me sad and angry. They will talk to groups that don't even really want or need to talk to them, but they won't talk to us.
