They obviously chose to concentrate on certain characters over others. There are so many parts of the game I see and think "They're just being lazy". Dialogue is cut, conversation wheel is MIA, side-missions are one demensional, there are gaping plot-holes left and right, our "big" decisions from the previous games are going unnoticed or have a small effect...this just isn't what I expected out of a Mass Effect game, or out of Bioware.

I don't even know if they paid enough attention to hear Thane-fans seeing as they forgot about the romance part and just kinda went, "What's that word? Oh, yeah, Siha! Throw that in there, it'll totally work. And reprogram that letter from LotSB, he did get some kind of content in that DLC right?"
I don't think it's difficult either. Or just dialogue. That make out scene just... grossed me out. A lot. It wasn't touching or passionate, it was just... ew to me. Even the way she said it, all flirty and coy seemed out of place right when all you can talk about, even somewhat superficially, is his disease. "You're dying? Let me hit that. :innocent:"
I've seen a lot better ideas in these forums regarding everything, but I think the Thane ideas are just so far and above (and at some times, obvious) what we managed to get that I wonder, honestly, what happened. Did they really forget or did they just not care? And which is more insulting?
Ugh, I found that rather lacking in tact. About the talking about him dying and then the make out scene. In my second play through (yes, I admit it, I did it twice and it was not any less painful), I knew what was coming so I didn't bother with the private time dialogue at that time nor the Normandy one. I just talked about his dying then walked away. I came back after I did the Javik mission and did only the Normandy one and then the make out. Even splitting it up didn't make it any better but at least I wasn't jumping him immediately talking about him dying.
Saturday, it was just my youngest daughter and I for a couple of hours, she came in and asked me why I was playing ME2 again. I told her that ME3 kinda sucked and they treated Thane badly. She wanted to know why, so I said, "words can't describe what they did but I can show you." I put the game in and loaded the save before she talks to him the first time. I handed my daughter the controller and said, "have at it." She went through the dialogue and then looked at me, "ok, I'm ready for the next one." I told her there was no next one, he dies after that. I watched her face and it kinda resembled this

Wow, your daughter is sweet. And smart.
Has she seen the ME2 conversations? Most people who have questioned my thoughts IRL tend to change their minds once they see the ME3 romance (most are dudes so they just saw him being all heroic getting stabbed). If they don't come around then, becuase they don't have their own romances like Liara or something, I send them Youtube links to ME2. Then they shut up.

I'd rather Thane alive and telling my Shep he loves her, as opposed to a post-mortem declaration that we've all heard and read before.
We're in agreement there. I would have loved to hear Thane say he loved Shepard in-game and for her to be able to say it back to him. If DLC to save him and fix the romance is released I will buy it in a heartbeat!
I've always thought the LotSB letter was well-written. I could believe it was something Thane would write to Shepard. When I found out Chris (Thane's writer) left BioWare I was worried about how Thane would be written in ME3 but the letter gave me hope the new writer(s) would get it right. Sadly, they didn't. What went wrong, I wonder?
In my opinion, the letter contradicts ME3Thane's attitude in the hospital. In the letter he says he wants to stay by Shepard's side and protect her with everything he is and in the hospital he's like "I think about us often but we always knew it would end. Bye" The letter is definitely more reflective of ME2 Thane as a whole.
Sadly, I think the devs just reused it because they didn't want to bother writing new content for Thane, which makes me sad.
I will always love the letter though and I'm glad someone was nice enough to give voice to it. <3
I agree.
Doesn't Shepard say I love you to the other LI's? Is Thane the only one who doesn't hear it?
"I love you" is said to/from: Garrus, Tali, Ashley, Kaidan, Liara, Miranda (but only if you let her die, I think), and Jack
Even Jacob says he still loves Shepard, despite the cheating and knocking up another woman issue. I was like WTF when I watched that. I never did Jacob's romance but I feel bad for the Jacobmancers.
Shepard never tells Thane she loves him and he never gets to say it either. D: WHYYYYYYYY!?

Yeah she saw the second one, many, many times. I remember the first time she saw the romance scene. Her face, LOL. Anyway her first reaction was "oh he's crying, he's sad, you should hug him", "oh he loves Shepard", the kiss though, that made her go

My daughter is 9 years old and she loves Thane since she saw him in ME 2 when I played. I had to create a Shep for her and play it while she was watching and told me what decisions she wanted me to make for her (only paragon ones). In ME 3 she wanted to play her Shep herself (and she is quite good in doing all the fights, I've never expected this).utaker1988 wrote...

Trust me if the scenes were anymore explicit, she would not have been watching them. Which means...no vanilla tent scenes in DA for her.
When she saw the death scene in ME 3 I had to comfort her and wipe away her tears. She really hates how the romance ends and that her beloved Thane has to die not matter what you do. She says it's unfair and asked me why all the other romances were handled so much better.

This seriously breaks my heart. I can't imagine how traumatizing that must be for her. HELL, it was traumatizing for me and I'm 29 years old. Poor thing, send her my love and sympathy.
One thing I wanted to say:
Trolling Bioware is probably going to make them shut down, more than listen. Try to stick to constructive tweets, as they'll be more receptive to that. Just my opinion, as I think we may be getting a tad overboard here...

For something as devasting as a death scene and serious illness one would think that it would be most important to have the option to express this to each other... poor writing indeed.

So Thane is the only one that doesn't get any kind of I love you. I saw Jacobs romance on youtube. Not only does he say he still loves Shepard, but that doctor he knocked up say he still loves you. Thane who is dying gets nothing. Who would not tell the person that they love who is dying I love you. What could those writers have been smoking to think that an "I love you" was not appropriate for that scene.

To be fair..., hearing Jacob say he loves Shepard under those circumstances.... he says that, then on the Citadel, tells her that he wants to name the baby he's having with Brynn after her.
Honestly, I would rather no declaration at all, or the post-mortem one (well not, seeing as we got it in Lair of the Shadow Broker) as opposed to Jacob's....

That's true, but it's still in his dialogue. Miranda only get it if she dies, and most of her fans are not going to let her die. Bioware proabably shouldn't have had Jacob or that woman say that to Shepard. It doesn't make being dumped any easier to deal with. For some reason the writers didn't think Thane or Shepard should say that to each other, but everyone else can. Who wouldn't tell someone that they love who is dying " I love you". Is Bioware way of trying to tell us that none of our Shepards ever loved Thane.

Shep: Hey Mordin, anything new?
Mordin: Testing samples. Lotions and ointments working for you. Have more if needed.
Shep: Yep, they are fine. Hey where does that ladder go.
Mordin: Life Support.
Shep: (evil grin) heh heh
(Shep for whatever dumb reason decides to check it out, head first. She proceeds down the ladder until her head is barely poking out into Life Support)
Shep: hmmmm....where is he?
(Thane comes strolling in, looking like he just got out of the shower)
Shep: hee hee...he's getting undressed...oh my....must be quiet
Thane: ?????? Probably nothing, ship is always making noise.
(Thane grabs his clothes, thinks better of it, heck he's alone, how about some shadow boxing)
Shep: Oh by the Gods!!!! Shriek!!!!
****THUD****
Thane: Siha!!! What? **slightly amused** Are you alright? I'm not going to ask what you were doing.
Shep: (rubs head) I was ummm...checking out the Normandy's equipment. (Boy, I hope he buys that)
Thane: (chuckles) The Normandy's equipment, huh? And how does it stand....
Shep: From where I'm sitting, it's in pretty good shape.
(Mordin from above)
Mordin: Shepard. Checked ladder. Next time wash off lotion before climbing. Or don't go down head first. Or both.
Shep: I think I should go.
Thane: I think next time "equipment" (amused smile) needs to be checked, you try a direct approach.
