I don't think Kaidan was that popular before ME2. When they saw the way he was treated more people who liked him started coming forward. I think he'sstill more popular than Ashley though. I believe Garrus does have the biggest fanbase. He has alwasy been pretty popular. From what I've heard Thane was more popular before ME2 came out.
I would never say Thane isn't popular. We just don't see every Thane fan on BSN.
Garrus tends to be popular as a squaddie overall, regardless of Shep's gender, the player's gender, or romance. For the most part, he hasn't suffered the same popularity backlash as Tali. He's a "safe" character for the devs to give lots of content because they know most players will experience that content. Fair? No, but it makes some sense.
That being said, I wish ME3 hadn't turned out to be the popularity contest it was. Some of the ME2 characters got at least a decent story: Miranda, Legion, Mordin. Others...not so much.

True
I was actually surprised by Tali's popularity. I didn't use her much in ME1, but I used Garrus most of the time. I noticed that a lot of men and women like him equally. I think that's the probem with Kaidan. Most guys don't seem to like him that much, but they love Garrus.
Miranda is pretty popular, but she still didn't get a lot in ME3. I think she and Jack did got more than Thane or Jacob.

Here's the poll that I mentioned-http://social.biowar...362/polls/3023/ It's kind of depressing really, I suppose we're more of a minority than I thought.
About the LOTSB letter-most ME fans have played the DLC, maybe by sending the letter again it's to cater to the newer fans to the series. No matter what the reason I didn't like it, and most Thane-mancers didn't either.
I'm sure the Thane votes would be much higher if he was handled better in ME3, trust me, I think the fact that Kaiden and Ash got so much more content in ME3 pushed me towards Kaiden more even though I feet a bit indifferent towards him (i loved him the first time i played ME1, but then I started to find him a bit boring). But then I realised it was only because I was jealous of how much content he got compared to Thane, I know where my love really is lol.
This poll is two years old though, it was created pretty soon after ME2 was released but it is possible that people are still continuing to vote after ME3. That could be partially influencing the results.
I don't care if Thane is the most popular, it just sucks when your character's fate seems to depend on a large and loud fanbase
Rahh I hate being upset over this

Well that was...weird. Kinda suprised Kelly was included at all, she didn't show up in my game. Bw seems to have something for indirect use of the word love. For Thane it was "I have few loves left". I guess it'd be a bit cliche to say "I love you" with Kelly, it just doesn't seem to fit right in my opinion.

It's wrong what they have done to us. I don't know that, even with dlc, it can be forgiven. Trust and respect, once lost, are almost impossible to give again.

I think I should mention that I cried myself to sleep the night I got past Thane's death in ME3. I felt stupid as hell but I couldn't help it, this game, which i was looking forward to soo much was completely ruined for me after Thane's death and abysmal romance. :'(

With the addition that when Thane was romanced there should be green Shepard/ Thane babies and Kolyat as a big bro for them! Also Garrus for babysitting!
That are exactly what Thane and Shepard have got in my story after the galaxcy is saved.:Sweet little Drell-Human and Human-Drell babies (with a little help of Mordin, of course)
Here are more of my ideas: After a while Thanes starts a new career as an author, writing adventure stories based on his former jobs (thanks do his excellent memories they seem to be very detailed and realistic), travel guides for Kahje and books about the soul names of the Hanars and some philosophical stuff.
Oh, and he and Shep raise a foundation for the forgotten kids on the Citadel named "Dralafar".
Seems, I had so much stupid ideas about the Shep/Thane future bevor ME 3 was released.

We need more support. More voices, likes, etc., on facebook and the fan book page and on the poll.
We need the lurkers to come out and lend their voice to ours. We need the other characters threads to join with us.
We need better writers for bioware.

I can't believe Kelly gets a paramour achievement and Thane and Jacob don't! I don't even see her as a real romance or LI. She wasn't a squadmate and her "romance" scene was her dancing like a stripper. What the hell is that? That is not a real romance like Thane or even Jacobs. I'm so mad again.
There has to be more Thane supporters than the few regulars that come here everyday. Where are they? I guess they were just so dissappointed that they don't even bother coming into the forums.

@Aislinn - You're not alone. We are all here with you so don't feel bad for crying. Yesterday I was running on my treadmill listening to music and thinking about Thane and then I started crying. That was horrible. Running and crying don't go well together. I've never cried over a fictional character like this ever. Well only for Leo DiCaprio in Titanic when it first came out. I couldn't stop feeling sad over that for some time about that. But it's such a different feeling with Thane since he was more real than Jack Dawson to me.

Yeah that's what I'm wondering, there were loads of Thane fans before, now I feel like it's just us. I think they were just disappointed too, and were not as dedicated as us to keep fighting on BSN and what not, so complained a bit on youtube videos, moved on, and just went with their other Sheps who romanced other people.
