I am discussing in another forum with people who think Thane's apprearance in ME 3 is just great (well, the did play MaleShep and so had no romance with Thane). They cannot understand my point of view ... well, of course, they got ther Liara or Tali romance (and still complain that they did not get enough)..
It's so sad when most people tell you, that you are wrong and your opinion does'nt count anyway.

So sorry to hear that your getting sucka-punched by some mouth-breathers.  Ooooooo...was that rude of mePosted Image?
It gets tiring trying to explain to someone, who actually don't really care about said character, that your points are valid and reasonable.  I've said this before, but if this game had done right by his friended/romanced, successful LM character arc, and HAD, in fact, put in choices for his life/death (maybe a bit of character autonomy for Thane), from the very beginning; these guys would have been completely non-plussed about it.  They would not have complained one iota; I am completely confident of that!Posted Image

Sometimes I don't even want to waste my time with people like that. If they didn't do the romance then they will probably never get it. Some of them don't even try to understand your point of view. They would also be the first ones crying like a baby if Bioware did to Tali and Liara what they did to Thane. I just think most don't care. As long as bioware didn't do it to them then they are fine with everything else.

What really makes me angry is that they want more. As if Liara and Tali didn't get enough. Especially Liara.
She has gotten more than anyone in the game, and she still can't die.

People complain, that's what they do. Even Liara people are not satisfied and that makes me go

It's the people that are so narrow-minded that they cannot see both sides of the angle that drive me to fury. Why is it so hard to see *both* sides?

Liara fans have nothing to complain about. I can't possibly figure out what they could want that they didn't already get.

For some they don't want to see both sides. If it doesn't effect them then they just don't care.
It's not hard. They just don't want to do it.

I just went data-diving into the sound files for the dream sequences in order to see what I could dig up re: any underlying themes etc. I didn't find anything of use there, but I DID find a few from Thane that I've never ever heard him say in-game (I don't think I've ever heard Thane in the the dreams, actually). ANYWAY.

Thane's lines: - His prayer to Kala'Hira
- "It seems there will be no-one to mourn me when I die. You are the only friend I've made in ten years" (HORRIBLY ironic considering the treatment he got in ME3 re: mourning)
- The "don't make yourself an island" line I believe you get when you go a bit Renegade on him back in ME2

AND

"You are a great protector, Siha, but some things are beyond even you."

Which made me a bit teary - but then I thought you all you fellow Siha out there, fighting to give Thane something better in ME3, and I have to say it is a comforting thought that even if the options for Shep in ME3 are horribly limited, there are people out there outside the game still trying to get results for Thane, and for the FemSheps who care about him. Keep at it, guys <3

I usually try to keep out of discussions about Thane because I know nobody wants even to think about my point of view. But sometimes I cannot hold myself back (I should work harder on this, I know).

That is exactly what I think. And there is always the stupid argument that we all knew Thane was deterimined to die since ME 2. Is this set in stone? Why? We are also told that Shepard wants to destroy the reapers and this seems to be the main goal of the series - but we did not only get the destroy ending but the option for the synthesis ending and the control ending ... so why did we not get the choice to cure Thane in some way? And why did we not get  a really epic fight with Kai Leng where Thane sends him to hell (not this silly fight we got where everybody behaves like an idiot)?

What really makes me angry is that they want more. As if Liara and Tali didn't get enough. Especially Liara.
She has gotten more than anyone in the game, and she still can't die.

And don't forget the Garrus' fans ... they get so much compared to us.:crying:

Except for the pray to Kala'Hira the rest are from ME2 I believe.
He does say the no ne to mourn me and that Shepard the only friend he's made in ME2.
I think the reast were cut from ME2 for some reason.

The last line about the great protector I'm not sure where that came from.

I've heard Thane in the dreams but I don't think I heard him say these things.

"It seems there will be no-one to mourn me when I die. You are the only friend I've made in ten years"-This is actually what I thought of after he died, and it felt horrible to know Thane was actually right. No one is there to mourn him, not even Shep, his Siha. I didn't know that played in the dream sequence though...that seems like a dick move honestly. Bw just likes to do that sh!t I guess.

The only line I ever heard from the dreams was the one about being a great protector, I loved that one. I actually just stood still in my dreams, hoping to hear Thane speak more. Eventually the game just cut to the scene with the little brat. He never said that line about being a great protector in ME2, right? That would mean we actually got a new line, no way!

Yeah there are 4 Thane lines that you can get in the dream sequences. The VA's did a really good job with those, they are creepy as hell!

I admit freely, my mainShep is a Garrusmancer. But I have other Sheps, and my ThaneShep is the only one who gives the Garrusmancer a run for her money on BESTSHEP status (for the record, the Garrusmancer wins because vanguard is stupidly fun and frequently just stupid. Nothing to do with romances).

Also, I really like Thane. So I lurk in a lot of threads. I guess technically I should spend more time in the Kaidan thread too, but it's... a well behaved, happy thread. BAH. Just like Kaidan.

Hearing Mordin and Thane in my dreams actually hit me hard, I think I teared up when I first heard Thane. I heard Kaiden too, since Ash was my VS. Funnily enough Tali ended up taking a trip down the cliff in my PT and I never heard her voice in my dreams. Thank god, her voice is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

Tali's death is a little over dramatic to me. I've heard Mordin as well.
I hated having him die.

Can you save Mordin at all or does he always die no matter what?

He can live. I don't exactly know how but some people have had him live. I think Wrex has to be dead or something.

So pretty much you have a choice in every character if you want them to live or die.... but not Thane of course <_<

Yeah, Wrex has to be dead, leaving Wreav in charge. Of course the Genophage is sabotaged and you have to be able to convince Mordin to go along with it. and Eve dies too.

He can survive, but it's a really crappy outcome. Wrex has to be dead, Maelons cure destroyed, and you have to side with the Dalatrass. So you have to keep the Krogans neutered if you want Mordin to live. I think Mordin would feel horribly depressed after that.

Yeah, I didn't expect Tali to throw herself off the cliff-I comitted accidental genocide of the Quarians?! LOL OOPS. Not like I cared at that point how my game turned out, my role-playing POV was already ruined. The scene where you have to kill Legion would have hit me much harder, honestly.

I love Mordin. I really do. But I can't betray Wrex and Eve like that, nor could I commit genocide. Not for that.

However, if I had to choose between the jellyfish and Thane...no contest. Thane wins.

I tried to run away from him but it looped me back to the beginning of the dream. I hate to sound like a heartless jerk but if this child was supposed to mean something or tug at my Shep's heart strings, it failed. She did not give a flaming vorcha's azz about this kid. Yes, I knew those lines were in the dream and I tried to block out how they could such jackholes by putting those particular lines in there. If they wanted to make my Shep feel something, they should have put Thane in those dreams. It would have shaken her to her core. Constantly trying to reach something she cannot have and could not save. DON'T GET ANY IDEAS BW....I don't want that placed in via DLC. Just to make it clear, I want the romance fixed.

I just looked it up and Mordin can survive if Wrex is dead and not saving Mealons data.

They even gave you a way to save Mordin. Most probably won't choose it but they still gave you the choice.
Thane gets death and that's it.

I'd do anything in my game to have Thane survive and be with Shep. The whole universe is pretty effed in the end anyway Posted Image

Hell, why can't Shep and Thane be trapped on the mystery planet together? Screw Joker and EDI! They are not my OTP!

I do too. I hated having him die, but I can't do that to Wrex and Eve.

I'm not attached to any of the Hanar so choosing Thane over them be a problem for me either.

Omg so it's not just me, I think her voice got incredibly annoying in ME3 haha. It didn't bother me so much in ME1 and ME2, but in this one, especially in the 'drunk Tali' scene I was like oh god hurry up and spit it out already haha. I like Tali a lot but, maybe I'm just super bitter towards everything in ME3 now..
