I'll admit, I nearly died laughing. That's how it should have went.

:o This is the best gif I've ever seen! I would have laughed my face off and deemed this the most epic moment in ME3 if that's how it would have went down. These Thane threads crank out some amazing stuff, I'm really glad I started reading them and joining in.

@mnomaha - Thank you very much, I think the thread kinda got buried but I tried to get some words in before it did.

@Hadeedak - the thread can be found here
http://social.biowar.../index/10275466
It made it to 10 pages long, although there were some people who were rehashing the "he was dying, you're all stupid fan girls" crap it was a good thread and hopefully helped some people get on board with saving Sere Krios and improving his romance.

Ah, I just keep the tab opened so I can watch it. The same with the fb wall post. I hate trying to find things on BSN sometimes. Even worse in fb. :(

Well, it looks like the "I don't get it" thread rose from the dead...with some less than supportive comments. :( Sometimes I want to write all the VALID reasons for being upset with Thane's treatment on a big board and then beat people over the head with it until they actually read it (or fall unconscious). :D

I don't think they will ever get it until it happens to them.
It really shouldn't be that hard to understand.

@ mnomaha Aw, thanks. Sadly, it seems they weren't thinking at all  since one of the writer's claimed they forgot Thane was a LI and it was a ~dropped ball~. That still makes me mad, when I think about it. >_<

Your post in that thread is wonderfully stated. Reading some of the comments just makes me want to bang my head against my desk. Some people are so thoughtless and don't even bother to read before they post.

**Sigh** Again I am arguing with some people about Thane's 'heroic' fight with Kai Leng (did they really have a close look at this scene? I doubt) ... and again they tell me that his disease is the only thing making his character something special and that without the Kepral's he would be just a stupid average assassin.
All the other parts of his character don't count - all people realise is the Kepral's. **sigh**

Thank you, Julia! There are a lot of great posts in that thread and many others explaining our reasons for being disappointed. Nobody has to agree wholeheartedly or want that for their game but it's frustrating that people can't concede that what we want is fine, warranted, and completely understandable for our games.

True and they just keep saying the same thing over and over.
I'm starting to wonder if any of them even looked at what Thane got in ME3, and how any of them could say the fight scene was epic is beyond me.

maybe we should just post the same things over and over. As in copy and paste the same reply. sometimes the easiest way to learn is through repetition.

They can bite me, yeah, a nice mature response in a language they understand. Let's just say for giggles that Thane did not have Kepral's, he was an assassin you picked up in Illium. Let's point out to those jokers that the following would still be true. His wife was killed because of his job, he sought revenge and in the process alienated his son. I don't doubt for a second that he would not still join Shep's cause, he was seeking atonement because he had killed people out of revenge and it burned him. So,ok he joins because he feels it is a way to ease his soul or however you want to word it. He wants to save lives to atone for those he took of his own free will. In the process he knows the SM is looming and he may die as they all could or you would not be settling their personal issues. He wants to save his son. You take out the Kepral's part and he is STILL the same person. Thick headed dolts for not realizing that.

Along comes ME3, they don't put him on the ship and he is on the Citadel regardless because one would assume that is where Kolyat is, he was doing some community service for Bailey for the whole Talid thing. Not hard to assume that Thane would want to stay where his son is. The Udina thing happens and Thane would still probably interject himself into the troll Leng fight. Why? Because he was trying to reach Shepard, he said so. The fight would still occur and he'd either die or not. Not one important aspect would change even if he were not sick. It would all occur. So for them to say that Kepral's is what made Thane who he is or why he does what he does is pure garbage.

I have a spot on my backside for their lips too.

That's a good idea, i was just going to quote that whole long post about the reasons why fans are unhappy with his death. I was going to include the blow-by-blow analysis of the kai leng fight scene (and credit RShara of course).

Those are some very astute points! Kepral's only added another layer to an already really well developed character and boiling it down to a single thing (his terminal illness) is such a disservice. Awesome post. :)

WOOHOO! Thanks, mnomaha! I was pleasantly surprised and really excited about that conversation with Billabong. Made me all warm and fuzzy.

I agree with you. There are some really cool people on that thread that actually took the time to read through the different arguments before coming to their conclusions. Sadly, there's lots of obstinate people who don't bother as well.

In my opinion, to really engage in a meaningful discussion people should skim the comments beforehand and get familiar with the arguments before joining in to add their thoughts. It can get frustrating when that doesn't happen and the same stuff is repeated ad naseum. :/

We are not being unreasonable. Thane was out of character for those who romanced him, the game does not even count him as a real romance (no achievement), there is precious little content to differentiate the friendship and romance path, we received no options to help him so it feels like our choices don't matter. I could go on. I think our arguments are valid and should be considered.

People who say "Thane had a cool death so it's fine" fail to even acknowledge everything that went wrong as if his death is the only point of relevance. That is very saddening.

LOL great work. and meant to say earlier, great work on the fb wall post! I'm still watching it but it has been very quiet.

Hm...is there a way we can just pop into all these bw posts and give our .02? would that make us too trollish?

@Julia - It is very frustrating which makes it great when someone acknowledges legitimate concerns with the Thane romance but infuriating when the same old tired, "nuh-uh you're wrong cause Thane had a cool ninja fight and it was awesome in my game" crap comes up.

I guess we just keep calm and soldier on. But I'm about ready for a break to go blow stuff up and snipe heads off in multi-player, lol. It's good for the drell-loving nerves.

@mnomaha - Maybe we could pop into some other ME2 LI support threads to help boost their thread numbers and help them as well. That serves the dual purpose of helping other people who were unsatisfied with their lacking romance as well as getting sigs and links displayed. :)

@utaker: You get exactly the point!
Thane's disease has never been the part for me that defined his character but all the other things like the death of his wife, his revenge, his broken relationship with Kolyat, his believe in the old gods. Maybe that is the reason why I was quite sure that there would be a cure for him in some way ... because the Kepral's never had so much impact on his well developed character for me. It just adds another layer to his character that should make you feel more sorry for him (which was not necessary anyway).

@ utaker Your response is so spot on. It makes me sad when people say Thane is defined by his illness/impending death. It's like they willfully ignore every other aspect of his character to fit their narrow/shallow view. :(

I would caution against it. They might consider it spamming and you could get banned.

We need to win them over with kindness and sweetness. Not ****** them off and make them not want to fix it.
