I had to fire one out before I went to bed, I have to be up in a few to drive my kid to church, only one that goes. That place would set fire to itself if I entered it. I will be up later to fight the good fight and hopefully a little less irritated.

Shep: Come back here you little bastid, don't you run from me!!!
Thane: (wakes up and reaches for the light) Wha?
Shep: I'll give you red, blue, green...right between the eyes...
Thane looks at Shepard standing there with a pistol and completely nekkid. He smiles.
Thane: Stop!!
Shep: There you are, get out from under the covers!!
Thane: Siha, it's me, Thane. Don't shoot!!
Shep: (comes out of her dream) Oh, I'm so sorry, I had that dream again about that kid.
Thane: (peeking out from the sheet and grinning) What was it this time?
Shep: What are you smiling at?
Thane: You look so sexy standing there nekkid holding that pistol.
Shep: Funny, real funny. That kid again, he wanted me to choose a color, same ones red, blue, and green.
Thane: (lifts up the sheet) How about you go for green.
Shep:  :o

This is great.
Is this the same Shep that thinks she's pregnant?

Well, to be fair, the multiplayer and single-player have very little in common other than mechanics.  There's nothing wrong with them promoting this or any other online challenge.  I rather like MP.

Do I think they have bigger fish to fry?  Certainly.  But they can't spend all their time dealing with the ending debacle, they'd go crazy.

~~Garrus and Thane in the Shuttle Bay~~
Garrus: Are you ready Krios?
Thane: Put the targets up.
Garrus: You are going down Drell.
Thane: Bring it, Turian.
Garrus: Alright, throw the towel, when it hits the floor start shooting. Most bullseyes wins.
Thane: (reaches in his pocket) and throws the towel
Garrus: Nice towel, are those women's panties. (laughing)
Thane: Damn, sorry about that.
Garrus: I need to ask, what were those doing in your pocket?
Thane: (slips into a memory of the night before with Shep)
Garrus: Uh, I never learn. Ok, let's try this again.
Thane: (throws a real towel, it hits the floor) Go!!
~~Gunfire echoes in the Shuttle Bay~~
Javik enters, whips out his particle beam, a huge explosion occurs
Javik: Primitives
Garrus: Holy Hell Javik
Thane: Shepard's going to notice that
Javik: We should exit immediately
~~They bolt and are in the elevator, it stops on the Crew Deck~~
Shep: Why do you three look guilty of something? What did you do? I heard some noise down below.
Garrus: It was nothing.
Javik: Nothing Commander
Thane: Siha, perhaps we should go to our room.
Shep: Forget that, I'm going down there now.
Garrus: (snickers) Yeah, I heard about last night.
Shep: (glares at Thane)
Javik: Cross species mating is pointless.
~~Elevator stops at the Shuttle Bay~~
Shep looks around, it looks like someone dropped a bomb in there.
Shep: What happened here?
Garrus: It was an accident.
Javik: My weapon discharged.
Garrus: So did Thane's (snicker)
Shep: Clean this mess up...NOW!! ::points at Garrus:: Not another word.
Thane: We are sorry Siha, it was just a friendly shooting contest.
~~Shepard notices the red fabric on the floor~~
Shep: What the?
Javik goes to pick them up..Shep snatches them...
Shep: Don't touch those, I don't want to know how these got here.
Javik: Ugh, human female, Shepard, male drell, Thane, mixture of bodily fluids (he runs for the elevator)
~~A moment passes~~
Joker: Uh Commander, we have a problem.
Shep: No kidding, what happened?
Joker: Javik tossed himself out the airlock.

So, I have a question for Thane fans...

I keep hearing that people didn't like his role in ME3. Now, I didn't romance him with any shepard so... I can't comment on that. But I thought his role of showing up when the salarian councilor is about to die and going toe to toe with Kai Leng was pretty awesome myself.

What is it about this that people dislike? Aside from the whole dying thing... but hey, characters die. I love Mordin and was sad to see him go, but I thought that was also well done.

There is not much difference between a romanced and non-romanced Thane.  You get a couple of Siha's here and there, a PI kiss and some really out of character make out scene after that, one dialogue before he dies and his 180 shift on dying.  A romanced Thane is no longer content with dying (he says so when he comes up to Shep's cabin before the suicide mission), he is scared, heck he even cries...now ME3 comes along and he's right back to where he was when you picked him up on Illium.

His death scene is no different between all variables of Shep's (friends, romanced, male, female) all basically the same except the prayer says, "she" and you get "meet you across the sea" instead of "you won't be alone long".  Shepard who romanced him shows no emotion and well, doesn't even mention him after that..but then again, no one else does either.  It's like he never existed, unless you like being trolled by Kai Leng, he remembers on Thessia, "Your friend Thane, died like a coward."  To further the point, even if you do pick him over Kaidan or Liara or whoever you went for in ME, it does not count as a romance, no achievement for you.

The recyled LotSB letter you get after he dies which I found out isn't really that special because someone got it even though they dumped him in the hospital.  Who would do that to a dying man is beyond me but to each their own game.

I'm sure the other ladies have tons more to add.

@Sgt Reed 24

- There is little to no difference in dialogue/cutscenes if you romanced Thane.
- Thane acts very out-of-character from the attitude he had at the end of ME2.
- Your Shepard acts like a wooden block that doesn't care as he lies there dying.
- One conversation with him, maybe one or two different lines if you romanced.
- The fight scene actually wasn't that cool (imo), because it seemed a bit contrived.  Kai Leng is somehow impervious to bullets.  Thane runs at him and gets impaled by a sword.  Shepard stands there useless the whole time, then doesn't seem to care when he's injured.  (hence the horribad line 'how bad is it?'  /facepalm)
- Just no where near enough screen time or conversations with him at all.
- Too much focus on him as being terminally ill, and not enough on him as a person.

I could go on, but you probably get the point. I hope.

The difference between Mordin's death and Thane's is that Mordin's was a story arc that reached it's conclusion in a satisfying manner, regardless.  To a lot of us, it felt like Thane was thrown at Kai Leng in order to make us dislike him, without any real actual purpose.  It was an unsatisfying end for a great character that deserved far better.

It's not the fact he dies, per se; if the whole romance was handled better in ME3, if there weren't these amazing plotholes in the whole way he died-the Kai Leng fight that technically caused it-if there had been some feeling of some closure there, perhaps we'd not be so heartbroken by his death, as we are all now!Posted Image

@Sgt Reed I just want to add that while it was extremely upsetting that he died with no possibility of stopping Kai Leng from stabbing him (and there were plenty of opportunities during the KL/Thane battle for Shepard and co. to start shooting), it would have been tolerable if there was an actual romance and if Thane and Shepard weren't so utterly out of character.

Kelly Chambers had a better romance than we did.

What even...how!?

Since you both pretty much said the same thing... I'm gonna quote both, but I'm gonna go with a the point by point .... it's easier to respond to. lol

- Ah, see I didn't romance him... so I wouldn't know. However, one thing I've found really annoying so far (second pt... he wasn't in my first) is Thane has been sitting in the hospital for a good bit of missions now and he never has anything new to say. I think he needs something new after every mission or two

- Again, didn't romance him... so I thought he was still very in-character. Guess that shows that they didn't really care about the romance.

I think maybe they could have done the current scene (with some emotion as he dies, I mean... come on) for if you were just friends with Thane and then have one where he acts more like the end of ME2 for the romanced version... maybe that'd be better.

- Yeah, I noticed that... was pretty bad.

- This one happens in pretty much every game, I think. As a more minor character... I'd say it's expected, but I guess that doesn't make it suck any less. lol

- Definitely disagree with this, loved the fight scene. Though, now that you mention it... the fact that Shepard and Co don't even try to help is stupid. But I think that's more of a focus on thane fighting him.

- Sounds familiar. :( .... but, he's not a squadmate, so I expect it.

- This also sounds familiar... *cough* too much emphasis on cerberus Ashley *cough*

Now that I read what you guys said, I can definitely see why you guys think he got screwed over. And now I agree! haha

I liked the fight, though there were a bunch of holes in it where I can see Thane would have normally totally completely destroyed Kai Leng. I've always thought that if Thane had to die I wanted him to go down fighting.

I just didn't think that would be all. I expected more than a conversation focused entirely on his death and then the next time I get anything out of him is his death. Believe me, I kept going back after side missions to see if anything unlocked any new dialogue. Especially when it comes to the romance, there should have been something else. I expected my Shepard to express her feelings for him more, I expected a picture on the desk and a paramour achievement.

However, Thane is nothing but a disposable character now. He is a minor NPC on the level on Conrad Verner, only worse because he is easily replaced by another character if you don't have him around. In the ME3 game guide, Thane is so minor he isn't even listed on the character list. A minor character like Kahlee Sanders is however, who had a major role previously those awful novels, not the games, and somehow her 10 lines of dialogue trumps Thane's 10 lines of dialogue that she's listed as someone important.

In fact I keep hearing players say they completely missed Thane's email, didn't meet with him, and only discovered he was in the game at all when they saw his name mysteriously appear on the memorial wall.

When Thane died I cried, and I've never cried that hard over something in a video game before. But it wasn't because he died, though that played a part in it, it was just this sudden realization that he was nothing now. My favorite character was a worthless NPC now. I looked at the achievement list and saw that there was no paramour, I went around talking to characters and not a single one mentioned or asked about him.

Not even Garrus who I took around with Thane all the time in ME2. I have this head canon they were sniper buddies. I found Garrus staring at that memorial wall right after Thane died, the first time his name was added to that wall, and the only conversation I can get with Garrus was, Ashley died three years ago and that is so very difficult to deal with still.

Wtf Thane died ten minutes ago.

My ME2 Ace Destruction Team doesn't give a f*** that one of them is missing.

His name might as well not have been on that board, he is that minor and worthless in this game.

Yep, that's exactly how I felt as well. It was as if my favorite character didn't matter, completely disposed of and forgotten. Like a severe punch in the gut, that was.

I thought that was supposed to look like that b/c he was supposedly not in his top form anymore b/c of his illness. He says something like that when you ask him to come with you.

Although, I think it would have been cool to have him doing something later on in the game to help Shepard and have him go down fighting a lot of cannibals or something (like how grunt takes on all those reaper rachni)

I know I'm probably gonna sound greedy here when I say this and that's fine if you guys think that, but well... my LI was a squadmate, but I can actually really relate to this. So I feel for you all here...

I was expecting more than Zaeed style one line dialogues from Ashley after missions when I'd visit her on the Normandy. Like in ME1 basically. She had stuff to say about every mission you did. And we could, ya know... interact with her. ugh

But I digress...

They pretty much just set themselves up for this problem by having so many squadmates in ME2. It sucks, for sure.

But thanks for letting me know why I keep hearing that Thane's role was terrible in the game.

Mordin can survive and be thankful Shepard.
"Mordin can be saved during the mission if Wrex isn't alive, Maelon's data was not saved, which leads to Eve's death, and the genophage cure is sabotaged. If Mordin is saved, and the genophage cure is sabotaged as a result, the salarians will offer their support as well as krogan support under Urdnot Wreav, as the krogan will be unaware of the
sabotage, with Mordin helping out as well."

In the history of Thane, we have no choice.

Thanks for being so understanding. A lot of people don't pay attention to what we say, they just assume we're all crazy fangirls. But we have completely valid reasons for being upset over this. And it's not just about his death.

fangirls you say... B)

And yeah, no problem... I'm a fan of Thane, I used him and Garrus a ton in ME2. Was just wondering why people thought what they did. :)

Continue with the fight, you do have valid reasons.... you have my approval. lmao

Thank you and now you get a crazy fangirl :kissing:

oh...

I like this thread! lol

What is it about this that people dislike? Aside from the whole dying thing... but hey, characters die. I love Mordin and was sad to see him go, but I thought that was also well done.

Come on now... who actually killed Wrex? lol
:P

But I get what you're saying. Though, how exactly would you be able to keep Thane alive? There would have to be a mission to get a cure for his disease or something. I mean, sure they could easily have him live after being stabbed...

oh, maybe they could have let him survive the stab wound and after you defeat the reapers (say with his and other ME2 characters help... in the final battle type cutscene since they aren't squadmates) you could get a him dying from his illness scene but with the whole "we did it" and "I love you" vibe.

IDK lol

There were several things they could have done.

The Hanar were working on a cure. Could have been a mission to Kahje to get it/extract the scientists, possibly tie it in, to gathering more war assets.

Thane could have gotten a lung transplant. The Medigel for the Lungs thing from the CDN also could have come into play here. Convincing Thane to take the transplant could have been dependent on his loyalty status from ME2, paragon/renegade and whether or not he was romanced. Someone had figured out a good scenario for this: that the surgery could still fail if a few of the aforementioned criteria are not met. Even if it put him out of commission for the rest of the game, talking to him, having a few conversations with him would have been worth it.

I'm just imagining right now that Thane didn't get a transplant because he wouldn't take the risk of it killing him without seeing Shepard again.

Of course, the fact that there's no romantic conversation in ME3 makes that VERY difficult...
