From my dear friend Jenova...
There was an interesting comment I read somewhere, an observation.. that the ME2 LI's were never meant to be long term because the clues were all there - Thane - Dying, Miranda - works for terrorists, Jacob - same, Jack - bat**** crazy and off the rails... you were only supposed tempted by them, not love them, with the exception of Tali/Garrus but they don't count because they are from Mass Effect and were not created FOR the suicide mission. That coupled with the fact that you could allow ANY of these characters to die on the SM, was BW's way of saying - not really a LI... :/
If you try and find a solid reason for ME2's existence it gets trickyThe only reason that jumps out is that they promised a trilogy and a trilogy they delivered.. they were too busy playing with their new shooter mechanics and combat to worry about anything else
Anyway, yeah.... they trolled us, basically.... xxx
If this was what they were trying to do then why didn't they just say that in the first place. Why not tell us not to get attatched to these characters because they wont be around. Why work as hard as they did on Thane if we weren't suppose to get attached. Why waste their time asking women around the office what they would like. They made miranda look exactly like Yvonne. They couldn't have been cheap because she's on television. The used her voice as well. Why make these characters so interesting if we were suppose to just be tempted by them.
Bioware knew we would love these characters. They wanted us to. They also know that not everyone loves the LI's from ME1. Also what about the people who never played ME1 did bioware just forget that fact.
Have they not noticed how large the Miranda thread is? Did they think we did that "Cure for Thane" banner because we were bored? These are clues that people have gotten attached.
If this is what bioware was trying to do it has to be the dumbest thing I have ever heard. If they honestly thought we wouldn't get attached than they don't know their fans or people in general at all.
