There are a lot of things that can be done for Thane not to die. The last resort would be putting Thane in a cryo-stasis pod until they find a cure.

But I think that his story in ME3 should not revolve around dying AGAIN.

You know, if I wanted, I could make up insulting reasons as to what you think and feel.  But I won't.

Because I'm not an ass.

I'm not sure I can see a drell singing. I'm sure they do, to some extent, but I'm not sure it would sound pleasant to our ears. The husky voice doesn't always lend well to lyrics 

And again; thinking Thane should die in ME3 does not mean you aren't a fan of his character. His character may not be defined by his illness, but it's a huge part of him, and it's totally okay to think his journey should end in death. Would I prefer an option? Sure. But that's just my interpretation of how his story should go. There's a big difference between thinking Thane is a sucky character and should be murdered painfully, and thinking the best way to end his storyline is with a heroic death. 

It's easy to get defensive about it, since we don't have a lot of information  have no information whatsoever on what will happen to him. But hey, variety is the spice of life. It's nice that a character arc can have so many interpretations. Frankly, I'm going to wait to see if he even has much of a role in the third game before I argue the cure/treatment/death stance any further; for all we know he could be murdered by Kai Leng in the first act, negating any need for this argument.

Seriously? Kai Leng killing Thane? Thane Krios who has taken on insurmountable odds is going to be killed by a Cerberous flunkie? The only thing Kai would probably do would run away, AGAIN.

Oh, not that I will think it will happen. Leng isn't the galaxy's best assassin, after all. And he's just a canon immigrant. He'll probably be nothing more than a mini-boss. Simply an exaggerated example of how little we know about Thane's role.

how about if thane becomes indocrinated and parts of him are replaced with tech like how it happened with saren, then depending on the circumstances and player choices you could either kill him or smack some sense back into him.

Let's not get mad it's just a debate.  Like Cheese said Thane has quite a few possible outcomes and we don't have much to go on right now.  I hope none of them are forced though.

I wish Bioware would release something, even if it's just an ambiguous screenshot of Thane with the ME3 logo in the corner.  We already know he's going to be in the game so it wouldn't be a spoiler.  Wait, would it?

Be careful with drell singing as they are capable of hitting notes that humans can't hear, iirc. 
Not that it wouldn't be pleasant or anything, but maybe human songs wouldn't have that problem.

Thane can’t sing? I thought they could sing all - With that expanding bone in their throat. I thought they sang all the time or made all kinds of notes that our puny human range of hearing can’t pickup because it too high? I thought it where the “warbling” reverberation effect in drell voices came from? Anybody got anything from the codex or something?
Also, idea for a fanfic that Im going to request in the knink meme...Shepard Singing. Yes, you heard it here first. I am going to request a fic where thane hearing Shep singing, and biologicaly responds with songs of his own or something. She can hear it this time. Then  happens. Yeahhhhh......

I was mentioning that human ears aren't able to hear a drell's full range. Yeah, Thane can sing if he wants, but we may not catch every single note.

@enmystic now I admit to my history of belligerence, but there wasn't any in that previous post. I think the person who's eyes are failing would be mine, no need to panic. . xD
I would.love to hear some notes though. If only a few. The words in his language sound like musical notes. I'm a little jealous of the drell ladies that can.

No worries. I want to read that fanfic you mentioned though.

I would love to know what drell, and other alien languages, sound/look like compared to human languages. That would be an excellent addition to the codex and possibly cause an explosion of fan related stuff. ;D

Drell singing? What a husky voice that would be... Speaking of fanfics, I am thinking of putting a list of Thane fanfics in the OP. They don't necessarily have to be ShepardxThane fanfics.
So it would be great if people put down their favourite fanfics. And then hopefully we can convert more to Thane love!

All I read is available on the mass kink meme. That does not mean it contains nasty, gratuitous, kink smut but all of them do indeed contain smut in some capacity- the last one that I am preparing to request with Shepard and Thane “singing” will be no exception; if it ever gets filled.

Also, I don’t read slash in any capacity whatsoever, though I encourage it being posted here as long as it’s flagged clearly so I know what I am getting into.

If you’re all comfortable with all this let me know, I’ll be happy to send links .

I haven't been reading much fanfic lately but one of my favorite Thane/Shepard fanfics is  "How Fornax Changed My Life" by kiwibliss. Unfortunately, it's unfinished but still a very fun read. Also, "Shadows" by  Juliette Louise which is also unfinished but being worked on, I think. I'll try to compile a list and post it later but those two immediately sprang to mind.

I agree completely! In a game like this I think the characters should have many different outcomes, depending on player choice. I won't mind if there's an outcome in which Thane dies (though I'd personally never let it happen in my game) but there should also be an outcome in which he lives. The only thing I would absolutely hate is if his death is a scripted event that cannot be changed. Thane has more potential alive than dead and he is too great a character for them to waste.

I really hope he's a full-time squadmember. The fact that he's a love interest should guarantee it. How else would we be able to continue the romance if he's not around for the most part? My main Shepard romanced Kaidan in the first game but moved on with Thane in ME2. I have nothing against Kaidan but I can't help but think how awkward it will be to have him around the ship again, especially if Thane isn't there. And if he's loyal and romanced I can't even think of a reason why Thane wouldn't be at Shepard's side during such a crucial time. In one of the first conversations you have with him aboard the Normandy he states that he has 8-12 months until his illness incapacitates him. Only a few months have passed by the time ME3 begins from what I heard so he should still be good to go. 

It would just be weird if he's not around, especially if he's in a romance with Shep. I will be so disappointed and saddened if he's just a cameo. I wish Bioware would give us a hint or a screencap or something! It's terrible not knowing what will become of him. They've given hints about some of the other characters, why are they being so secretive about Thane? *sigh*

I like Thane,although I don't agree with his logic. But I always liked the concept of silent assassins,and I have to say I really like that line from the title. And his voice is cool.

The ThirtySix Stratagems of Wang Jize by Mussimm - (FemShep+Thane) I love this fic SO MUCH.  (Thanks again Neiti for recommending this!)
