Hey, Sihas, I have been offline for some days.
I had some strange ideas during that time. Want to share it with you:
What would happen if Thane were ill, but still alive, when Shepard is at the Citadel to talk to the ghost child? Would she chose the synthesis ending where Thane possibly could be saved because of that new DNA?
Or think about another scenario:
How would Shep decide, when the ghost on the Citadel were Thane's ghost and not this nameless boy?
(I apologize if my ideas are crazy - must be hay fever.)
I totally thought that's what it should have been. Rather than some random kid (would Butcher of Torfan and Earthborn have seen plenty at this point?), someone significant to Shepard should have been there. LI, Anderson, parents, VS...any of the above would have made more sense (and been cheaper).

And yes, it should have taken the form of someone that meant something to her. In all honesty, Cameron didn't give a crap about some kid. Was I really supposed to take the fate of galaxy seriously when it's being spewed to me by a child? I think not. Same thing with the nightmares, I know someone will say, "it represents all those she could not save." It fell so far flat on me. The only time I cried or was even emotionally moved was when I heard Mordin, Thane, and Legion's voice in those dreams. Mind you, this is the same Shep who told Anderson (right after seeing vent kid), "it's not your fault, you fight for the ones still left standing" or close to that. Cameron was fighting for survival and to save those she cared about, she was not tormented by the nameless, faceless people she could not save. Or at least I wasn't.
Would I forcibly rewrite Thane's DNA. No I would not. Tempting but I know he'd have a problem with it. He had an issue with "brainwashing" the geth so I'm going to guess he'd have a problem with forcing everyone into being merged. But if his azz were on that Citadel, you can be sure I'd max my EMS this time to keep Shep alive.

Mordin: Ah, Thane. What can I do for you?
Thane: Do you happen to have anything that can lessen hallucinations?
Mordin: Hallucinations. Let me see. Yes will need time though.
Thane: Thank you, Mordin. I owe you.
Mordin: I will need Shepard to come down when it is done.
Thane: I will send her just let me know.
Mordin: Rubbing your head. Something the matter? Anything I can do?
~~Remembers the night before~~
Thane: (wakes up) Stop, Siha, Stop!
Shep: This hurts you Harbinger. (whack, whack, whack)
Thane: Stop, it's a hallucination! (tries to dodge pillow blows)
Shep: Pain is only an illusion. I'll show you true power. (thwack, thwack, thwack)
Thane: (puts hands out to try to grab the pillow) Shepard, that's me!!
Shep: Face your annihilation. My attacks will tear you apart. (kapow, zonk, whap)
Thane: (resigned) I give up. I have fallen.
Shep: You have only delayed the inevitable. Releasing control. (collapses)
Thane: (picks her up and places her back on the bed) I need to speak to Mordin in the morning.
~~Back to standing in Mordin's Lab~~
Shep: Hey Thane look at what Cerberus got for me!!! Collector armor!!!! And a Collector Assault Rifle!!!
Thane:Mordin, please hurry with that.
Mordin: Will do Thane. Looks like time is critical.
Shep:
ROFL!!!
I really do love reading back to pages I've missed while offline!! Nearly fell off my chair here, Utaker!

I'm going to shamelessly piggyback on to this and ask, what do you guys think Thane would say to Shepard before the final push against the reapers were he still alive?
Do you think he would bring up the possiblity of her death? I can't decide...

He would tell her he loves her, tells her she can do this and he believes in her. If he were well and on the ground, he's coming with her. I took him to Pragia and Omega during the plague, so I wouldn't hesitate to take him on the ground against the reapers and their minions. Besides, I don't think there is any other place he'd rather be than by her side if he were capable.Selinis wrote...

He'd probably mention that she could die and then say he could as well. If that were the case, well he'd probably say a prayer and tell her he'd see her across the sea.
Of which, my stubborn Cameron would tell him that neither of them are going to die and this time she'd muster an I love you.

Ok....Thane doing what he is supposed to be doing, shooting Vorcha (Yes, I took him to Omega)
Where is Cameron? Oh there she is.....
She isn't going to find Vorcha there.![]()
And this is yet another reason I wish I played on the PC. I'd be able to modify it to get Thane earlier. I always hate having to wait until the second half of the game to recruit him.
I love the screencaps, utaker! <3

He'd probably say something akin to what he wrote in his letter, particularly this bit:
"I love you. If all else whispers back into the tide, know this for
fact. By grace given me by the Goddess Arashu, I bid her divine
protection to you, my warrior-angel, my Siha, to succeed in your
destiny. To light your path through the coming darkness. To give you
hope, when all seems lost."

I dunno I think the point was for it to seem kind of mysterious and seeing as we knew nothing about that kid and he kept showing up in our dreams (which were supposedly signs of indoctrination), because he was the symbol for indoctrination this whole time it kind of makes sense.
I think even if we don't care that much about the kid (I know i didn't after a time), because the dreams are more 'indoctrination dreams' rather than real dreams it kind of makes sense that we keep seeing him, and the fact that we're like 'why do we keep seeing this kid?!' it's meant to draw attention to that.
BUT if the IT is not true at all then I don't know haha.

Guys, let's daydream about DLC for a moment. If we are actually given the option to save Thane how would you prefer it?
Lung transplant
or a mission for the cure (that could also provide Hanar/Drell war assets, if successful)?
Personally, I would love to go on a mission for a cure. Remember those rumors about a mission on Invictus to help Thane defend Hanar scientists who were working on the cure? It was false information but, to be honest, I would have loved a mission like that.
However, the pragmatic part of me thinks the lung transplant would be easier for BioWare to implement and require less resources.

Personally, I'd want a cure. It wouldn't be easy to get, you'd have to make some tough choices and it would be a slow recovery due to his severe condition. With a transplant, it just seems like prolonging his suffering. His lungs aren't the only thing effected at this point. In Chakwas' report, she says he has tumors/lesions on other organs of his body because the infection is spreading:
"Lung Capacity: 42% (left-side lung shows large lesions, right lung has nodular lesions only)
Antibiotic treatment: Now resistant to cipoxidin, malanarin, alburcin
Metastatic progress: stomach, liver (minor), heart (negligible at this time)
Treatment Options: Viable transplant candidate but refused to be added to list - Synthetic lung generation currently impossible for drell."
This was during the course of Mass Effect 2. The fact he was still able to function, let alone fight in ME3 is amazing to say the least. Unless they decided to retcon this, Thane has got to be in a lot of pain aside from his oxygen deprivation.
It makes me wanna cry just thinking about that. To be honest, I've always just wanted him to have a second chance at life free of his disease entirely. The man deserves that much.

Mission would be nice. That way you wouldn't just be "curing Thane" you'd be gathering precious war assets
