I confrontation between Thane and Kaiden could be great, I'd expect it to be quite calm though with Thane showing his feelings mostly through his body language and a slightly altered tone of voice.

Heh, I'm going to be honest and say I sort of want drama, because I find romantic drama lulzy as all hell and could use the laugh. Mostly because I'm hoping to troll Kaidan on my canon renegon Shepard.

I'm interested in seeing how they portray all the romantic conflicts, but Thane's interests me because he doesn't come off as particularly aggressive most of the time- the whole 'cold confidence' thing. Hopefully BioWare doesn't go the cop-out route with him. You know, 'I'm dying and I'll totally understand if you want to be with someone else.' Pfft. I don't want/need 'roid raging angstbucket Thane, but you know... just... something.

Real eloquent there...

On the non-romance side, I'd like to see Thane have some philosophical talks on the state of the universe with Shepard. My brothers both play male Sheps but they still enjoy talking to/chilling with Thane; one of them uses him in-game almost as often as I do.

I'm interested in how Thane's going to handle the LI 'confrontation'.  My main Shep has only Thane as her LI, but I do have a couple Sheps that romanced Kaidan and then Thane and also one with Garrus in ME2.  I would hate if they had Thane cop out with the 'I'm dying, so go be happy Shepard' gig.  And honestly, I can't see him being that passive.  Remember, Thane's lost a woman he loved once, I don't know that he'd let Shepard go so easily.

Thane may seem cold, but he feels very deeply.  He was so moved by Irikah staring him down that he had to speak with her.  He was jolted back to life (so to say) by Shepard persuing him through the Dantius Towers.  In his romance scene he's so shaken that he's brought to tears. This guy oozes cool and confident, but he feels some things straight in his soul.  (And I love that he shows that side of him, mind you, but is not a hot mess, it's the perfect blend of sexy.)

Anyway, my point is that I don't think it would come to blows between Thane and the other potential LI, but I can't see Thane just rolling over and giving up.  The man never gives up (Serenya told us that too, I really owe her a drink.)

On the friendship side, I'd love to have chill time with Thane.  Even my Sheps that didn't romance him had him as their wingman and seriously enjoyed talking with him.  It'd be awesome to have some real debates / discussions with him and even possibly involving other squadmates.

Mm, I was referring to his 'cold confidence' in the general sense, not that I think he's an ice princess or anything :P

I don't think any of the LI confrontations will come to a physical fight (although I would laugh, so hard- I'm a horrible person) and I think between Kaidan and Thane, it will probably be more the more mature (re: no name calling) side, but I'd be disappointed in BioWare with the 'I'm dying, go ahead' cop-out. I could understand Thane rationalising it that way, but him just rolling over instead of putting forth some heat and effort would be lame.

I think Thane (if he is indeed still dying in ME3) might give Shepard the get out opportunity but he'd surely do that in private rather than to Kaiden or even in front of him. I really can't see him putting Shepard on the spot like that and assuming that without Thane, she'd still want Kaiden. He's got more respect for her than that.

Was quoting you to mainly cache in on your train of thought, Valentia (I usually agree with what I see you post, here and elsewhere).

The rest is me talking out loud, like I usually do when trying to reason / think my way through something.

The Hanny Banner, for great justice!

as long as there is not cop out with only getting a sad goodbye letter. (I'd rather hear he gets a cure or a lung transplant) , but Thane had better be in the game.

I mean it is not even years since the suicide mission ended and the third game begins so I don't think a cure for a serious disease as lung cancer (face it... it is lung cancer) has been fully developed yet. One in experimental stage? Perhaps. But if Thane and Shepard decide to go for that I bet you there will be serious side effects that will be detrimental to Thane's Drell body. Medicine is a great innovation, but it's not magic.

It's not a cancer, though, it's a bacterial infection. At one point, hanar antibiotics successfully stopped this disease from progressing. But Kepral's has since become immune to the antibiotics. How recently this has happened, we do not know, but the hanar have been funding a genetic engineering program that they are adapting to drell for a few years now.

If they managed to bring Shepard back to life, I'm sure finding a treatment for a bacterial infection wouldn't be impossible ; )

Sorry doll, but you are the only hanar I trust. I'm still in my Hanar consipracy mindset. Posted Image

Throwing in my support! And maybe one day I'll start contributing and stop lurking in the shadows. Ahem.

Loving the thread title, by the way. I need more insightful quotes from Thane in ME3, with all the destruction and chaos. His speech about not becoming what we hate (and TIM's questionable reaction) is what kept me from saving the Collector Base, and drew me to him in the first place.

Thane: "Always a step in the right direction"

He's third in place of Samara and Kaidan. But I hope he's back because one of my half-way done Shepards is trying to jump on that.

Hm... my favourite non-romance related Thane quote: 'My son is out there, in the dark.'

Don't know why, but the way he says it gives me chills.

I like his unintentionally funny lines, too. 'Sleep well, and dream of bulbous women' will never made me not laugh.

The "Sleep well, and dream of bulbous women" line is a nod to the movie Princess Bride. <3

Wesley says something along those lines to Fezzik after he knocks him out.

I feel like such a bad Princess Bridge fangirl for not realising that. /hangs head in shame

I just wish I could actually get that line in game. It always chooses my other teammate to talk. D:

In that case... Still up for infiltrating the hanar facility to obtain the fabled cure for Keprel's syndrome? Posted Image

Also Aislinn, gotta pimp your work! It is advertised on ME2's facebook page after all! Posted Image

I always seem to have Garrus and Thane when I do Samara's recruitment mission. If you tell the police officer not to follow orders Garrus is like "we can say no to suicidal missions? And Thane says, "That's like twice a day!"

Kaidan and Thane confrontation? Makes me think about ME when Liara and Ashley/Kaidan approach you, so you decide between the two...

Kaindan: "I didn't thought you were into women"
Liara: "I'm not a woman!"

ROLF

I doubt Thane will step aside, but neither he will be aggressive towards Kaiden. Thane respects Shepard and he knows that she is the one choosing who she wants to be with.

Also, I'm the only one that thinks that instead of using Thane's illness as an excuse for him to step aside, it could be used the other way around?

Thane: "Time for me is short Kaidan...what's some months after two years waiting for her?"
Kaidan: ...I understand.

*some time later*

Shepard: Thane! we found it! a cure! we have a cure for Keprals!!!
Thane: Siha...*hugs Shepard*
Kaidan: :o

The funniest part of that conversation if you bring Garrus is:

Garrus: We can disobey suicidal orders? Why a wasn't told?

ROLF
Our favorite Turian can be soooooooo cute sometimes...

Imagining trollface-Thane cracks me up.

Thane has some great lines that are delivered just right (huge props to Keythe Farley).  One of my favorites is :

Shepard :  You don't act like a dying man.
Thane :  You have the advantage there, Shepard, you've already died.  Perhaps later you can give me some suggestions.

Hello to all the old and new faces!  :o  Also, Thane.

Thane dying from his disease would add an element of tragedy to the story for his romance fans, making the game all the more memorable. A bittersweet ending can be so much better than Thane being cured miraculously. I think it would be a disservice to his character if he is cured through some contrived means, and seeing him die is far more true to the story they started to tell with him in ME2. I don't know whether it'd be more emotional for him to die in a blaze of glory or to die the Normandy's med-bay, but I don't think Bioware should shy away from something like that.

Thats my opinion anyway.

Wouldn't it be interesting if Thane's son pops up to show disapproval of this?
