Hey all..been lurking since I finished my ME3 Thane romance..ugh says it all I guess. Both Thane and my Shep were so out of character for me, and romance (or lack of) made my stomach flip as I thought of the months I had been waiting and money I had saved were wasted..Thane was the main reason why I couldn't wait for ME3 to see how Shep and Thanes story played out..but alas *sigh* disappointment among other things. Now back to ME2..though talk of DAO and DA2 has got me wanting to do some playthroughs XD.

Anyways..main reason for post was to share a youtube vid I found by Polar Dove..made me shed a few tears..maybe because her Shep kinda resembles mine and I thought the lyrics fit perfectly; at least for me. K done rambling lol.

Feel free to post or lurk...all are welcome (hmmm...that just sounded like the little psychic woman from 'Poltergeist', in my head...)  We have booze and chocolate.....we ran out of Kleenex because Liara used them all to stuff her bra.....dammit Booberry!

Anywho, thanks for giving us your thoughts....I know I feel the same way (my "money" was for Thane as well)  And BTW, DAO and DA2 have been a help......at least for me.

I was playing with Tink last night on MP, my old man came in and said, "How can you be playing as Thane? Isn't he dead?" Slap moment there but I explained to him it wasn't "really" Thane. He was amazed at my lackluster combat skills, I really play all my characters like they are ADHD with no meds and an overload of caffeine. Yeah, don't play with me unless you like to facepalm and don't take things seriously. I like using melee and watching Tink flip around. Not necessary with an Adept but hey, tis my character. Some serious people don't like to see it either, lighten up it's just a game the world isn't going to end if I play stupid.

One guy got really ticked with me one night, "I'm not going to revive you again." I just said, "Don't, you are not supposed too. He's modeled after Thane, just stand there like they do in the game." He actually laughed and wanted to know why I bother playing because I'm not good and I told him I do for the laughs. In the end, we went into a two person private lobby and he started to play as badly as I did. We never got off Wave 2...ever but man we were laughing at how bad our characters were.

*sigh* maybe it's just me, but I refuse to play MP. I blame it (along with the crappy writing, etc.) for being a large contributor to the craptastic game we got.

 I'm sure it isn't craptastic (even though I haven't played through it yet) it just doesn't have enough Thane for us Thane fans.

If I were to put it into fractions, three fourths of the reason I wanted ME3 was for Thane, the other one fourth being for the story, other characters, etc. I got really attached to the idea of Thane being an LI at least for half the game, but nope, under the bus he went.

And to top it all off, I really didn't like anyone from ME1 except Wrex and Garrus, so imagine my dismay that I got stuck with all these characters I didn't care for or didn't want when I could've had someone like, say, Kasumi, or Jack, or anyone from ME2 (except for Garrus and Tali but they were originally in ME1 anyways) :c

No, it really is craptastic. The graphics are awful, it looks more like a cut & paste storyline in a lot of parts and they totally ruined and/or dismissed all the ME2 squad.

I kind of like Liara as a friend, although her voice kinda creeps me out.
I also like Kaidan but I'm starting to DISlike him because of how hard ME3 pushes Shepard toward him. GIVE ME MY THANE BACK

I love Thane but there's one thing about his character that irks me: the whole body/soul separation BS. I'm like, "take responsibility for your actions. You kill people." What if Thane was a rapist? I bet you that "my body does it, not my soul" excuse won't fly.

I'm sorry for bringing it up if it's been addressed before, but I just joined the thread.

Drell Adept is one of my favorite classes! But while we're on the topic of MP, why is it that every drell designed like Thane? Are they all suffering from Kepral's? I think the point is that he was under contract to kill and so it wasn't his responsibility. I'm not completely clear on it either, but that's how it's *supposed* to work....I think

Hmm that's how I read it too.

The analogue with the "Do you hold the gun responsible?" gives me the impression that Thane views himself more as a tool to be used for the purpose of assassination.

He does hold himself responsible for those he killed in vengeance of Irikah's death, since he chose to kill them by his own choice. He clarifies this when Shepard says "By your own rules you weren't responsible" and he tells Shepard that their deaths are the only ones on his concience, and that's why he seeks redemption.

What he believes, at first I was scratching my head and thinking, "really?  you kill people at some point in the whole assassination your mind makes a decision to pull that trigger but before that didn't your mind make the decision to accept the contract.  Ok, so you want to counter my attempt at logic with 'when someone aims a gun at you, you don't think you just shoot (or whatever)' ok, yeah but in an assassination normally someone isn't already holding a gun to you."  It was then that I realized those are his beliefs, just as one believes in God, Satan, many gods, whatever it is what they believe and I could no longer try to berate him or tell him he's wrong just as I'd probably not be too pleased if he told me my beliefs were wrong and chastise me for them.  So to twist a quote my Warden gives when Alistair asks her about Leliana's vision, "I believe he believes it."  That's good enough for me, at least he sticks up for it no matter how absurd it might sound to some.  

Now, if he were a rapist or pedophile that is just another matter, he never would have made it on my ship.  Yeah, I know killing people is ok but anything else is just wrong.  Probably because I am disgusted at the thought of either.  Having kids covers the latter and experiencing it covers the former.  

About Thane's outfit, I know he's supposed to leave his chest exposed because of the Kepral's though I also believe it's like that to drive women crazy.    Worked for me at least.  Yeah, everyone here is already aware of my issues.  I think they just reused his outfit, probably laziness or could be just plain mean, giving us the option to play with someone that looks and sounds just like Thane.  It's cruel but I do it, it's the closest I have to playing with Thane again bar Mass Effect 2.
