Thane's death was done well No.

i posted on there too and it got me thinking about more injustice for that whole stupid scene

talk to Thane in the hospital = Thane dies/Kirrahe lives as a happy war asset/councilor lives
don't talk to Thane = Kirrahe dies/ councilor lives/Thane dies off screen anyway
don't have Kirrahe/don't talk to Thane = councilor dies/Thane dies off screen anyway

lazy writing :wizard:  i mean come on..Kirrahe can live and the councilor can live but Thane..no must kill Thane

Yes, it's awful. He dies no matter what you do. Just makes me angry thinking about how lame the whole thing was handled. I posted in that thread, too.

I just posted as well (a long somewhat "ranty" post).

For the record I think the OP isn't like "Thane's death was great you be whiny fangirls deal with it" but far more reasonable and thinks "His death was ok but idk about the his other death scenarios".

I agree and think before anyone goes around saying how everything is fine they should at least do some different playthroughs to see the different possibilities for themselves. first hand knowledge! yay!

Wait wut second page uh nonono that won't do...Nope!

Here have some Thane/Kaidan banter now with 100% more love triangle! and elder trolling:

Thane is passing by the Portside lounge on the Normandy where Kaidan is drinking some alcoholic beverage:

Kaidan: So, Thane...

Thane: Alenko, I believe you are intoxicated...

Kaidan: I just... Ah screw it. There is no way I can keep this civil!
You hooked up with the Commander while she was working with Cerberus didn't you?
Seriously, what does she see in you huh?

Thane: "Hooked up" implies that I do not care for her, and nothing could be farther from the truth. As for what she sees in me, you had better ask her yourself.

Kaidan: You're saying you love her? Heh, funny thing that, because so do I. And even funnier she loved me too.
Thane:  Then you should not have doubted her when she needed you the most Alenko.

Kaidan: Oh I had my reasons. She knew what Cerberus was about and she still joined them. She turned her back on the Alliance and me.
But still I love her. Heck even after cheating on me I do.

Thane:  She did not cheat on you. You walked away from her. Not the other way around.

Kaidan: Oh, really? Didn't she leap into the arms of some widowed drell when I wasn't looking?
Bet ya' she didn't tell you about the night before Ilos huh?

Thane:  This conversation is over.

Kaidan: Oh, I can tell you about it, Thane, it was wonderful!
There she was in the captain's quarters with that look on her face, both of us fearing tomorrow, telling me I make her feel like she could take on the universe!
And boy did I rock her galaxy!

Thane: *Clenches fist*  Do not speak with me until you've sobered up…

Kaidan: Oooh, getting touchy are we Thane? So you fancy she can replace your late wife huh? Be a "mom" to Kolyat?
Afraid she’d want a family of her own? After all her biological clock is ticking…

Thane:  Enough! You do neither yourself nor her credit acting like this. And that's Sere Krios to you. And Arashu forgive me, but next time you speak of her in that manner I will not stay my hand.

*Javik walks in through the door*

Javik:  It is clear who has the weakest ground in this matter. I concur with the assassin. Drinking and arguing in this manner serves us no purpose. *Knocks Kaidan out cold*.

Thane:  That was...

Javik: Well deserved.

In my cycle disgracing your commander was punishable with death.
Besides, her pheromones speak clearly on the matter of whom she desires to be” joined” with.

However in my opinion her genetic matter should be preserved for the future.
The Council has some strange rules regarding genetic modification across species.

A drell-human hybrid would be a most competent warrior. Even more so if it had both her and your skill in combat.

Thane: I...

Javik: You have already spawned an offspring. The legacy of the Commander should not be thrown away simply because of genetic difference.

*Javik walks out the door*

/Heh, joining in on the "green babies" craze. (Ivy Shepard would be totally up for it. Seriously she would!)

You made the decision to make him look like a drunk loser, harassing Thane and having Javik beat him up in a "comical" fashion. All of this with the obvious goal to make Thane look better. That is classic fan character assassination, he is taken out of character to make you feel better.

You say it's okay because of what he says in the game? Clearly what he says in the game and what Shepard can and can not say in the game, is part of very same writing process that decided Thane wasn't a romance anymore and should die ASAP in a really crappy way.

A true love triangle isn't so one sided like that, usually it's a love triangle because it's a tough choice for the person it's centered around. The two he/she is picking from are usually both great, not one annoying the crap out of the person the triangle is centered around. What you've written is a restraining order on Kaidan waiting to happen because he's just a jealous, drunk ex-boyfriend.

I'm sorry I didn't mean to upset anyone.
For the record I don't dislike Kaidan at all. This was just written as an (in this case failed) attempt to just have some fun at the expense of in this case, an ooc Kaidan.
It wasn't my intention to anger anyone. If that's the way it came across then I apologize.Posted Image

Thank you, apology accepted. I'm just sick of seeing this kind of fan writing, it's really unpleasant and tasteless and aggravates me when it involves my favorite characters.

I know the game appears to be pushing Kaidan on everyone and BW bizarrely was really focused on him, but in my game he friendzoned my Shepard and I never felt once that he was being forced towards my Shepard. That is all I've ever wanted since ME1 because I really like his character in a non-romantic way.

I know it really sucks Thane has no romance, but no body needs to take that out on the other characters when it's really Bioware that wrote it all that way.

can someone write me friendly banter between Thane and Kaidan now? I'm writing a fic with then involving chocolate pudding and I don't want to spoil it.

I personally think Kaidan and Thane would get along really well. They both have a similar sense of honor and kindness about them, not to mention the dry/sarcastic humor flying around would be epic. It saddens me, because I thought maybe I'd get to see some cool interactions between ME1/ME2 characters and.... nope.

There could have been so many funny and epic moments. I wanted to see what Ashley would think of Jack, Kaidan of Miranda, Liara of Samara or Morinth. It really is a bummer.

Okay I have to jump to Emerald's defense here. First I'll say I understand where you're coming from, I DO, but I also have to ask you this question: don't you think that a man, who has probably been hurt very, very deeply, and up until now has been forced to bury his emotions, might not just let them out and lash out against the ones he sees as the cause of his pain, when he has been imbiding a substance known specifically for it's ability to lower inhibitions and restrict the ability to use common sense?

Because that's how I see it. A man who just can't hide the pain anymore, and who unfortunately is no longer able to realise how much pain he would cause other people with his words thanks to the excessive amount of alcohol he has drunk. We all know he would be apologetic after he sobers up, because he really is a very good guy, but right now, his inhibitions have been lowered enough for him to no longer care, albiet temporarily.

As for Javik, well, I personally think he's just an ass. But taken in context with the rest I can definitely see how you came to your interpretation.

I apologise in advance if I've offended you. That wasn't my intention. :(

Edit: Damn typos. :(

Well a follow-up on that previous banter is in order methinks, a bromance one at that:

Kaidan: Sere Krios I, about those things I said the other night...I ap...

Thane: No need. We both behaved like children. In your case, the whiskey was more responsible for your actions. For me, my inability to walk away was just as much to blame.

Kaidan: Yeah, but whiskey or not, I really shouldn't have hurled those words out of my mouth...Well, the thing is what I really wanted to say yesterday was that, even if I still love her, I know you will take care of her.
For some reason I..I just snapped.

Thane: This war brings everyone to the edge it would seem.

Kaidan: Aint that the truth. So uh, are we good? I mean I, understand if you think of me as some kind of...

Thane: Not any more than you think of me. If there is something I have learned during my time on the Normandy, then it is that extending your hand in friendship is preferrable to using fists.

Kaidan: Friends then, Sere Krios?

*Kaidan extends his arm towards Thane, Thane grabs it*

Thane: Yes, friends. And it's Thane.

Kaidan: Thanks...Thane. Heh, you know when all this fighting is over and if we're all alive somehow, you should really visit Earth. You know, I'll show you the beautiful forests around Vancouver. I mean the Reapers wouldn't be interested in destroying trees would they?

Thane: I'd like that. It will be refreshing to have peace when this war is over.

Kaidan: Indeed. There will be a lot of work, but a bit of well-earned rest after the storm will probably be tolerated. Unless the universe decides to throw some other dangerous intergalactic threat at our doorstep.

Thane: If it does, then there is no better crew to fight it than ours.

Kaidan: And there is no one better to lead us than Commander Shepard.

Thane: Agreed.

/Is ok? I hope this attempt at capturing Kaidan is not made of the same amount of phail as my last one u_u

But we have an example in the game of Kaidan not doing that. If you leave Kaidan for Garrus, he doesn't lash out like that towards Garrus. He doesn't get drunk and so obsessive over Shepard that he would do that. Kaidan's is big enough of a man to not to do that. In fact, another example of him not doing this is with Liara in ME1.

In fact, Kaidan, Garrus, and Thane are all strong enough to step aside and let Shepard go if she wants to be with someone else.

Plenty of that jealous crap is in Dragon Age 2, and as much as it made for interesting banter in that game with the men involved, I can't see any of the guys in Mass Effect being so pathetic and possessive jerks over Shepard that they would humiliate her like this.

edit:

Why are you apologizing? You have nothing to apologize for.
You didn't bother me at all. It was just a story, and that's how I took it.
Do not feel bad at all. I dont' know why this is taken so seriously.

Interesting how Emeralds dialogue got interpreted. I honestly didn't see this as anything more than catharsis. Now, if I misunderstood Emeralds intentions, well, that is my problem; I don't hold her responsible. Still, very surprised that anyone would find her dialogue "disgusting". Myself, and others have poked fun at just about all the characters in dialogues and other whimsical fashions, but I don't see that as being "proof" of a defamation of said character......simply poking fun to make oneself (and others) grin. Nothing more, nothing less. Sorry if this rankles feathers, but I think if there is issue with the "humor" that has been brought forth over the past month, we should all get the proverbial 'cold shoulder', or ire (if it is demanded....) I have no problem taking my medicine, but that won't necessarily change my point of view on the matter.

May laughter and frivolity prevail when it is most needed. :)

I think it's a case of things typed on the internets lose their connotations, so something innocently fun for some comes off as annoying for some others. Let's just move on
