The hand animation is still messed up in my pc version. But pausing it just right enabled me to get that. It's a shame that if one were to take these pictures without actually experiencing this romance (or really lack of one) that we would be hearing, "what are you complaining about, it looks good."

What is worse and I actually cringed then laughed is if you pause the cutscenes during dialogue, the person who was speaking will continue to do so. Well, I paused it right before Shep's porn noise and I had it in slow mo at the time, it just appeared so wrong. Thane was pulling her closer and she moved up a bit, it really looked like some serious dry humping going on. Especially at the angle I had it at.

I wonder if they'll ever fix that handhold glitch? I doubt it. :/ It's the least of what's wrong with Thane's romance and there's so much I'm hoping they'll fix/expand on/add to it.

LOL @ at the innappropiate slow-mo. I think that calls for an animated GIF.

Bringing this over from the romance sexism thread (I hope you don't mind utaker!)

utaker1988 wrote...
Someone above mentioned FemShep and "broken" men. Yeah, I noticed that too. They must think that women like the old "fix-er up-per" men. I'm sorry but I really don't want a project when I find a man, I'd much rather have one that doesn't need more care than my children. Nor do I want to think of them as that old '67 Mustang I have sitting around that still needs to be rebuilt. No thank you, I'm not wired that way.

Take Thane, I didn't romance the guy because he was broken. Sorry BioWare that wasn't why I chose him. He was interesting, among other things but I will keep my mind clean as to not cause fainting, and well he knew what love was. He knew the value of it, he had it and he had lost it in such a way that he closed himself off for years. Knowing that and knowing my Shep does not like to be played with or dicked around, I knew that if he said he cared for her or even loved her that he meant it. But apparently BioWare forgot that love was involved as anyone who romanced Thane knows darn well he wasn't a fling. If that was their intention, then I want to beat them with a wet noodle for being so cruel to Thane. But then again, they did give FemShep the option to dump Thane while he's in the hospital going through the last stage of his disease. Then after you dump him the "Private Time" option is still available, he will reject you but still...it's there. FFS!!!! Sadistic. Yeah, I no longer want to use a wet noodle, I'd rather beat someone with my shoe for being that mean.

I just love what you wrote about Thane (particularly the bolded bit). I think that's an aspect that really drew me to him. I know some people are put off by the fact that he had a wife but that never bothered me. The fact that he had experienced love before and was so devoted was appealing. He's passionate about his loves and true to them. When he says he cares for Shepard and that she "woke him up" it's not a game or something he takes lightly. He means it.He went ten years being alone and it's not until Shep and the impression she makes on him that he even considers loving again. I like that he's so open and honest about his past. Some of the stuff he says does not put him in the best light (like abandoning his son) but he doesn't sugarcoat it and he owns up to his mistakes and tries to make it better. I liked that Shep was his emotional support - going through something like that bonds people. I'm not sure that I'd call Thane "broken" but he does have baggage. It's not his baggage that drew me to him though. It's his personality, spiritualism and because he's a hot BAMF. :P

It makes the retcon of his character in ME3 harder to deal with. It's like he's given up and he acts like the relationship is over ("we always knew it would end") rather than try to make the most of the time he does have like in ME2 ("time for me is short, siha, but any I have is yours to take" or "I'll always be here to talk").

Shep's not the only one who underwent a lobotomy. :(

Sorry, haven't been writing here for a while but followed most of your discussions.

@Julia & utaker: I am right with you about the reason why I chose Thane as a romance partner. It is not because he is broken or ill - it is just because he is so interesting, gives Shep new aspects about religion and the profession of an assassin. He does'n moan when he speaks of his wifes death and his own faith as a kid trained to become an assassin, he isn't whiny ... he is just honest about all those things and his own faults, isn't looking for excuses or people other than him to blame for.

Another thing I want to throw in: Discussing Thane as an LI with some (very young) guys in another forum they said they did not like him as LI because he had been married before and should be true to his dead wife because you only should love once in your life. I couldn't convince them that it is okay to fall in love again after ten years and that this is no cheating on your dead wife/husband (even in real life).

All of my favorite characters, including Thane, are strong and functional without Shepard. Samara, Mordin, Thane, Garrus... We all get the impression they're very competent on their own, and emotionally capable of functioning well. I like the characters that approach Shepard equally and may be able to drop kick her in their areas of expertise (damn you, bottles and sneaking, damn you).

What I like about Thane, romanced or not, is how complete the character feels. He seems self-contained and dignified. He has a developed view of the world and his place in it, and shares that with us. It's very interesting. There's the complexities of his religion, his job, his family, his worldview... Sure, spiritual assassins are nothing shocking, but Thane does it SO well. X3

WOO HOO!!!! YESSSSS!!! THE ISLAND HAS INTERNET ACCESS! LIFE DOES GO ON!!!

So, I'm sitting in the Atrium on Daydream (South Molle) Island sipping a hot chocolate and wishing I brought a jacket with me (I'm ****ing freezing!) And guess what, I DID bring Thane with me. He's having a blast!

Here's Thane looking out the ferry window as he's leaving Abel Point Marina, heading out across Milford Sound towards the Island. It's a bit rough out on the water, but he's still enjoying himself.
Posted Image

He's arrived, and having done the arrival tour and checked in to his room, he is looking at the beautiful garden outside his room.
Posted Image

Having finally unpacked his luggage, Thane decides to sit for a bit, and enjoy his new surroundings.
Posted Image

Tired from the day's journey, he decides to go to bed, and thinks of all the exciting things he's going to do tomorrow.
Posted Image

Unfortunately, the second I got here it went overcast and started blowing a gale, so all the exciting things I was going to do today have been cancelled. No jetskiing, or kyaking across the way to the deserted beach I can see from the resturant for me today.

And my lappy battery is about to die, so I'll log off and go find a power point I can plug Alistair into.

Bye!!!! :D :D :D

@ myth....I love that, mostly because it's the kind of stuff I pull. Weird to some, yes but I don't give a crap what others think of me, only what I think of me. There was a time when I carried my magic 8 ball around to answer everyone's questions. It irritated everyone and that's mostly why I did it. Mind you I was an adult too, I was warned at my wedding to not pull it out when I was asked if I would take him as my husband. Just as I have a Thane figure velcro'd to my dashboard. I remember being stuck in traffic one day and someone was pointing into my car. I looked at them, rolled down the window and said, "What amuses you?" They wanted to know what that was on my dashboard and if I was actually sitting there playing with it. I just looked at them and said, "It's Thane Krios and we are trying to have a moment while my husband is away." Yeah, they turned their heads, I'm sure they discussed how nuts I was.

As for Thane and Shep, other than what I've already stated about my Shep liking him because she knew he wasn't going to dick her around, it was something else. Shep could not bend him to her will. He was strong, there wasn't a point when I could paragon or renegade my way out of crap with him. He had an opinion, he stated it without hesitation and you could tell he didn't care if Shep liked it or not. And he wasn't like "OMG it's Commander Shepard let me worship you." Uh no. I already have a line of those and Conrad Verner to boot, don't need another one.

Guys I'm drawing a blank on what to write for the blurb in the Fanbook. What kinds of things have you guys sent in? You don't have to be specific but were they like, Thane quotes, reasons why he should live, pleas, begging, tears...?

I haven't contributed anything Posted Image, came in to the forums to close to the deadline, but I've always considered this my personal tag line for Save Thane.

''Amonkira hound you, Arashu forsake you, Kalahira reject you - Give me back my Drell!''

Hey Shara....I was having the same problem, so I will post what I put (obviously, you can ignore the PDS stuff....which leaves little else, but....eh.....maybe it'll helpPosted Image)

"She is beyond my aide. *sniff* Taken by alcohol. Personality replaced by Gin. Courage replaced by Scotch. Strength replaced by Vodka. Gone, is our Commander. *sniff* No longer in Command."
- Mordin in Hallucination Form (Dialogue #5, PDS One-Shots)

Perpetually Drunk Shepard (PDS) was born out of a cathartic need to laugh through unhappy, frustrated tears, due to the fate of our beloved Drell, Thane Krios, in Mass Effect 3. She is inspired by my Thanemancing 'Ulee Shepard' (screenshots taken of her and Thane during ME2).
Hope you enjoy the silliness, born out of waaay to many "pickled" evenings. And now for the inebriated ramblings of "Perpetually Drunk Shepard"................

hmmmmm.......in retrospect, what Tashash said is much better.

Thanks WetNose!

I've been thinking (a dangerous occupation for me) - Has there ever, in any BW game, EVER been a situation where you couldn't save your LI somehow?

I know for a fact that it never happened in NWN1, or Dragon Age....So, why now, and why Thane?

Please help us to make sure the Ending DLC is a great conclusion to the series by playing SP on Saturday!

- Who are you and what is your motivation?

We are fans of the Mass Effect franchise who were disappointed by the way the ending of Shepard's story was handled. We want to maximize the chances that fans will be satisfied by the Ending DLC. While many of us are Retake/HTL members, we do not claim to speak for the majority of either group.

- Retake has already won. What is the point of this?

While the production of a free Ending DLC is a step in the right direction, the announcement Bioware made was vague and could apply equally well to either a multi-hour playable extravaganza or a handful of epilogue slides stating things like: "ReaperGarrus lived for many happy days on Gilligan's planet before he finished consuming Tali's dead body and died of starvation." Our goal is to help Bioware get the funding it needs to produce the former.

- Why didn't you specify what a "satisfactory ending" is?

The fanbase is diverse and not everyone wants the same thing. (However, we suspect very few people will be moved to boycott Bioware if MORE CHOICES are provided.) Also, we trust that the company which made the Tuchanka missions is more than capable of pleasing the majority of fans if they internally peer-review their work. It is not our intent to demand specific plot points or outcomes. Bioware has over 600 pages of fan feedback and multiple polls to point them in the right direction.

- Why should I take part in Turn it On/Turn it Off?

If EA is presented with clear evidence that the quality of the Ending DLC will mean the difference between regaining supportive fans and driving away their customers, we believe they will finance a better product. It is imperative for people who can't currently bring themselves to replay the SP campaign to stand up and be counted instead of being written off as a "lost cause." Also, it's important that the "wait and see" crowd make their voices heard now while we still have time to effect positive change. Finally, it's free and easy to do.

- Why are you trying to destroy Bioware?

We're not. We want them to make an Ending DLC that is worthy of the rest of the game and then reap the rewards of their success. To that end, many of us will encourage our friends who haven't played Mass Effect 3 to download the demo (http://masseffect.com/about/demo/) during Phase 1. We are more than willing to bring new customers to the franchise if the ending is fixed properly.
