To regress to a male dominated angle with obvious gender divisions is disheartening at best. My faith in the future of video games is now officially in the crapper.

I figured, well it's the way it is and then I find out that ManShep gets to call out Ashley regarding Horizon. Huh? Then I became angered. Why does ManShep get that and not FemShep? Why does she have to appear sorry or ashamed? I realized then that my FemShep was never equal and as a female gamer, I was never equal.
This also doesn't take into consideration the fact that they ruined FemShep's romances and only hers. Jacob and Thane, too bad you romanced them. You get ONE male choice now because you didn't pick Garrus. Well, I shot Kaidan on the Citadel...so now I have NONE. What about my ones that romanced Thane and Virmire'd Kaidan? Well, same thing. Too bad for you. No men for you...how about a few women? How about NO!!! How about if I wanted a partner with boobs, I would have chosen Liara long ago.

Yes, the treatment of FemShep left me very disquieted. At first (meaning not ME3 but the other two) I was happy, FemShep had nearly the same dialogue and choices as ManShep. Finally some equality...then ME3 came along and I got to the Kaidan convo about Thane and every choice, no matter the words had her apologizing...even the LIE option sounded like she was sorry. I was upset. So much so that I reloaded the game and just flat out ignored Kaidan, my Shep would NEVER be sorry for moving on.

As always, Utaker sums up my feelings. Dammit, BW you sere doing soooo well - hell, in DAII LadyHawke had more romance options than LordHawke (Sebastian, if you were wondering) and then ME3 comes out......WTF?
And, frankly, I find ME3 Kaidan a bit of a pri--*ahem* - so much that all my future playthroughs now involve him becoming nuclear charcoal on Virmire.
And since Garrus is always and forever my battle bro that I love like family I'm a little screwed - unless I take Allers (HELL NO!), Trayner (dosen't do it for me) or finally give in to Liara.....Nup.

Utaker, you just summed up my feelings, as well! I've nothing more to say!
My main Shep let Kaidan die on Virmire-and I've mentioned before how glad I am I did that, after seeing videos of him and how he reacts to the ME2 romances...and the fact FemShep just lets him condescend her, which frustrates me even more!!
My secondary Shep let Ashely die on Virmire, but she also romanced Thane in ME2...and she is one who will never see ME3, unless the ending dlc is awesome, for one thing, and for another, unless something is done what that BAD parody of a romance that is Thane in ME3!:/ Because I know I'll just feel heartbroken again, after the Citadel and what happens to Thane and I'll have the added aggravation of my Shep-who is mostly renegade, though not completely, for that matter, and not one to apologise for much of anything-apologising to Kaidan and not having the option to tell him to go rotate himself!:/

So I do feel a little bit rude for posting this, but I just wanted to bring this to your attention, just in case you didn't already know about it. g33kwatch are having a Mass Effect marathon over the next few weekends for Child's Play and they have a character sponsorship system for the donations. So if anyone wants to have a look and maybe sponsor Thane, then here's the link:
http://masseffect.g33kwatch.com/
Or even if you can't donate, might be worth checking out anyway as they are normally pretty fun, though this is just a mini one before the big MEM3!
Oh and wildannie, that Thane plushie is so cute! I can't wait to take him on some adventures! =D

Seriously, where's Casey? The bloke seemed like a smart guy (for a while, after the ending though, not so sure) so SOMETHING should have clicked along the line.
Oh, wait... never mind.
Also, Margurite just told me something I found very appropriate. Thane as EINHERJAR!
For those who don't know who the Einherjar are, they are the warriors that Valkyries collect from the battlefield after their death. They are the ones who are granted the honour of fighting alongside the Gods on the field of Vígríðr on the day when Fenrir breaks his chains, and Heimdall sounds the horn, calling all to Ragnarok.
Holy **** I think I'm seeing a parrallel that actually makes a little bit of sense when relating to Margurite...
Wait, no, forget I said anything. Just my mind desperately trying to make sense of what we were given. Never mind.
Back to my point.
Thane was a man who was dead in all but body when Margurite met him. She recruited him from the place that should have meant his death, brought him on to her ship where they eventually fought the Collectors, essentially preparing, training, for the inevitable War with the Reapers, who broke through the Mass Relays into the Milky Way for the express purposes of killing every sentient life form in the galaxy. A war Thane eventually fought in (in his own way, bloody Bioware).
I think it's pretty appropriate.
At the very least, I finally know what Margurite calls him now!
Oh, and this seems even more appropriate in my head canon, because Margurite (and I) both draw parrallels to the Valkyries whenever Thane calles her "Siha." And well, Margurite is a practicing Asatru. *shrug*
Just trying to steer to more pleasant conversations. The constant anger I've been feeling is making me really tired of late.
Also, on a totally (mostly) unrelated topic: I'm getting a "Siha" tattoo soon!
EDIT: Seeing if I have anything left in my bank account to donate....
EDIT2: Donated! Thane's on top with $215! Noticed too that Kaidan's only got $5. Take THAT you whiny sunova****! THAT'S what you get for accusing us of cheating WHEN YOU WERE THE ONE WHO LEFT US!!!!

Wow, that's really effed up. The more I hear the worse it is. I have a whole diatribe regarding the illusion of choice and being forced into a single male-driven path, but I wasn't aware of the differing Horizon dialog. Seriously... I can't be-LIEVE that. Hello to all the newcomers that feel our pain and are supporting Thane and his lack of ME3 involvement!
I have been remiss at posting - RL and all.
@myth - I follow Casey on Twitter, and I don't recall him tweeting ANYTHING since the release of ME3. Mac Walters has stayed silent as well. Some of the other ppl that worked on it are now blocking ppl if they bring up the endings again - especially since the announcement of the "extended cut".
@utaker - LOVE your convos - keep 'em coming! Malificent is my new hero.
I was taking my new Thane action figure out of his clamshell package, and reliving in my head the horribleness that was ME3 and getting worked up all over again. I just cannot fathom how they thought that what we got was suitable, or enough.
Patrick Weekes posted on Twitter a few days about how sometimes they have to cut stuff that doesn't mesh with the "theme", and that is how "art" is created. I agree that they can't keep everything, and I'm sure that some cut scenes/dialogue made absolute sense to cut. Others however...plus the mangling of Thane's character really has me baffled. It's like no one even played/watched ME2 to understand him.
Ok, rambling about things we've discussed a million times...

On the Norse connection with Thane:
As the Swede I am, I'd be flattered if Thane's name is inspired by the title Teygn.
But back when ME2 was just released I remember googling Thane, and there was a city named Thane located in Maharashtra, India, that showed up in the results.
(That city is rather large actually, and is along with Mumbai, the center of Bollywood)
I shrugged it off at the time but later I decided to dig around in google a bit more (for fun) to see if there were any other drell connections, and I found: Kolyata, a tiny village located in Madhya Pradesh, and another tiny village named Rakhana in Rajhastahn (a desert province).
Coincidence?
Idk...But it does fit that the drell's naming conventions would be inspired by India, considering the theme of polytheism and deserts.
(The turians are in similar fashion inspired by the Roman Empire, both in culture and names if my memory serves right)
/Note: Thane's name could be inspired by both Scandinavia and India. One does not exclude the other after all...
BTW The Einherjar idea is awesome regardless of what naming conventions BW actually used though
Oh and indeed yes: <ridges>!
