Garrus and Tali are two of my favourites. It has actually been speculated a lot that Garrus may die in ME3. But I sure hope not, that WOULD make me cry. But making Thane die as canon wouldn't be fair to other LI's. I know he is terminally ill, and that we went into the relationship despite that, but it is realistic to expect that there would be some way to prevent that illness from killing him.

I should have explained myself better. I don't want anyone to die. Anyone at all. Tali, garrus, Kasumi, mordin, Wrex, Grunt, Zaeed, Donnely...that guy in the staff room who was worried about his family, I wamt to save everyone I possibly can. I know that the Reaper threat is supposed to be severe and that this is impossible, but I can't overlook character death. Cannonly killing a character - no matter how popular, is just lain wrong. If you must atleast allow it to be player influenced.

Why can't we get a DA choice like with Alister where we either had to toss him to the archdemon or make him a baby-daddy.
x_x I willing to make sacrifices, but don't kill off characters, especially LIs. I don't want to lose my Shepard's LI, I don't want anyone else to lose theirs either.

Don't do this bioware. Don't. Image IPB

I sacrificed my girl instead in DA:O....But I REALLY don't want to sacrifice Shep or his squad.

That's why I can't force myself to loose anyone on the SM. Thane is way too well written to be killed during opening hours of ME. Personally, I don't see any reason in him not getting a lung transplant, if you romanced/did his LM ine ME2, thus extending his lifespan. The whole point of Thane for me is that he is a guy, who does not see any sense in living more than his condition allows him - seeing he failed as a father and husband. Shepard can open his eyes (also, pants) and give him a reason to live again.

In other words: I will be disappointed if Thane dies in his bed in the beginning of ME3.

I can't kill anyone on the SM either....just can't bring myself to do that, no matter how I feel about some squaddies.

Some people have suggested only the romanced Thane lives....I would be VERY unhappy if that became the case...I have a manShep....The re-unite with his son should be enough of a compulsion to live.

They could have Mordin cure him

I would be too.  Not just because Thane was re-united with his son, but because male Shepard is probably the first real friend Thane's had in years.

Thane pretty much states that straight up when he talks about his wife and a further conversation.

Thank you for confirming that.  I haven't listened Thane's conversations for quite some time now, unfortunately.:P

I actually think that drell would treat there children with more maturity and respect because of their solipsism. I think that we have the tendency to 'coddle' children and behave sometimes patronisingly to them.

But due to the tiny population of drell, every child is literally their future, and I imagine that a lot of teaching and attention is given to them to allow them to excel at their talents. And this is shown with Thane being taught to be an assassin at the age of 6. Young children are probably treated much more maturely than humans treat them.

We know that Drell have perfect memories.
We know that they don't remember their own birth.

So we can assume that their "perfect memory" is something that grows as they reach their adulthood?

Meaning that they don't really remember their first years with much detail.... because, you know, the other day I was with a friend's newborn, being silly and all, and the idea of him remembering in perfect detail all my silliness... well, it must be one hell of awkward "solipsism moment" for Drell... ROLF

And if they actually remember everything after birth, ( Thane comments on how his memory helped him during his training, and he was 6-12 years old ) how do you think it affects the way adult Drell behave toward children??

Honestly I don't think it does effect they way they treat thier children. I think they treat their children like children. I think like anyone you have to be careful about what you do in fornt of a child, but I don't see thing being that diffent from humans. The one memory Thane does talk about he is just playing with his son like any father would. I'm guessing Thane was treated  differently, because he was being trained to be an assassin. He probably was never really treated like a child at all. His childhood ended at the age of 6.

Unfortunalty we don't know enough about their society to say for sure how they behave when it comes to their children.

Hey, none of that.  Bioware has been keeping quiet about a few other characters, not just Thane.  It's a secret and it's good for marketing.

We're talking about him so that's already a good thing.^_^

Of course! Now let's start a movement that Thane should be kept alive and given a decent role throughout ME3!

And yes, they have only really said much about team dextro, Liara and VS. Although Mordin, Legion and Wrex have been given mentions and hints...

I think it is because Bioware have an epic and amazing a spoiler that they are keeping very secretive from us all ;)

It's hard to stay optimistic when they are not saying anything. Thane is one of the only characters that they haven't said anything about. All they said was that he was alive. While that's great news it still isn't saying much. I never doubted that he would be in the game. I just would like to know something else. Anything else. They could give us some little hint about what's going to happen to him. So far they haven't given us anything really. It's very frustrating.

I agree it is very frustating. But we must not give up hope. There alway has to be hope that Bioware isn't going to let us down. That they are as invested with Thane as we are. Chin up. Its darkest before the dawn. :)

Apparently hanar won’t have much of a role in ME3. So there goes my conspiracy theory. :P But that could also mean that Thane cannot have much of an impact outside of being a squadmember. So he must be in the squad!!! :D

The lack of new characters being announced as squadmates is also encouraging. And looking at balancing issues the already confirmed squad clearly lacks vanguards which Thane is. And I really don’t think that they will cut out all ME2 squadmates in ME3. It would clearly take away the whole meaning of ME2 which was apparently about the dirty dozen.

Yeah, it's an epic spoiler.  Thane's an assassin with an uncertain fate.

@JECWSU
At least Thane was confirmed to be ALIVE and in the game.  He's going to appear and his romance arc will be resolved.  That's already excellent news.  It also means his look is getting redesigned as well.  I hope Thane gets a Matrix-ish look, but with leather.

It's not like anyone at Bioware forgot about Thane.  He may get hinted at more during the next major gaming event come winter.

We need to be patient, and keep waiting.  While in the mean time post fanfiction, screens, artwork and discussion in support.:D

Personally, I think that Thane will have more than a minor appearance in ME3. I remember some ME2 pre-release interview, where one of the devs named him one of his favorites, and probable fan favorite. Also, he was heavily involved in the marketing process. Too much effort was put into his creation, just to be killed off at the beginning of ME3.
