...When I eventually got ambushed by Zevran, I let him go, but I honestly thought I would lose companions if I took him with me (again, this is from someone who had NO idea what she was doing....dialogue from Alistair made me think that he or other current companions would leave.) I also didn't have the Stone Prisoner at the time, so again, another companion that I didn't use. NOW, what is the point of this you ask?? Simple; even though I didn't have Zev (sacrilege, I know) and Sten, BW still recorded VO, add content to the game, and render graphics even though they could be missed or not chosen by some as companions. The content is there whether you activate it or not. Same can be said in DLC's. Look at Legacy for example (and I choose this DLC in particular because this seems to be a newer direction BW wants to take by adding more companion immersion into said DLC), you have (potentially) 8 companions to choose from to bring with you on the campaign. All of them have some unique banter and some interjections throughout the story. On top of that, three of them (sibling, Varric and Anders) have even more interaction (content exclusive to said characters) with Hawke and other NPC's. Yet, I could choose never to bring those three if I wished. Still, the content WAS made and "could" be utilized depending on who you bring with you.

All of the squaddies from ME2 should have had such treatment
. Each of them should have had quality content, and enough of it to feel satifying. It doesn't matter that they "might" be dead. Because these are RPG's, there is often many different ways people would want to play these games, and those that like perfect runs (all missions/sidequests complete, all characters who can be kept alive, live), would get that. Those that like mulitiple runs with different outcomes, would choose to do many play throughs. I myself have a variety of play throughs. Some not so "perfect", and I take no issue with "loosing out" on content for those specific run throughs because some squaddies/NPC's/Crew are dead. I have other saves where they are not, so I would eventually see ALL content available to me in said game. This would be no different than me never recruiting Sten and Zev, or never choosing to take Varric/sibling/Anders through Legacy. I don't feel cheated, because I CAN still get the content if I choose (there's that word again....choose, choice, chosen, chose)...

Yes, this would have meant money in development. Many have pointed to monies spent for me3 on content that we didn't want and/or need. The focus should have always been on the characters in this game, since that is what drives most of us to play these games to begin with. I had asked the other day about how long it took most of you to play LotSB (last week I played it in about 2.5 hours). If you take into consideration the number of sqaddies/exsquaddies we have, and had given each of them content close to LotSB, then add in other content specific to your main objective (i.e. reapers), time wise, the game would have matched (roughly) the same as ME2. And if all of the character missions would have related to the main one (through gaining of war assets, or finding valuable intel, and getting you and your team other advantages), then this would have truly been a character driven story. The type of story I was most interested in, and I believe others were too. Most people who have played me3, say that the two most memorable missions were Tuchunka and Rannoch. I would argue that those were memorable because they were character driven storylines. Could you imagine if that was the bulk of this game? I think it would have been absolutely amazing. Admittedly, this is just my opinion; my .02. ;)

Alright, I have prattled on long enough, and I apologize for being (yet again) very long winded. Not even sure this will make sense.....(I swear, that is going to be my new mantra....sheesh!)

Well I have  understood  all what you wrote here so I guess it make sense ^^. I agree with the  content should be there IN CASE someone choose this.  What  I can not understand is WHY they could  make the game different  after the  two precedent  episods were  succesfull as they were ?? Im glad I had dragon age to comfort me after the  betraying they have done to  my Thane ;( oops sorry. OUR Thane.

I tried to play DA this past weekend but I got as far as the Warden talking to Tamlen in the beginning and walked away. I then tried NWN and gave up. I then decided I was going to finish FFXIII-2 and managed to complete it. I pondered why I could finish a FF game but walked away from past favorites and then it hit me. FF is not made by BW. It is BW games that make me sick now and that doesn't look promising in the department of future titles from them ending up in my possession. They did, they shattered the faith and trust I had in them and I'm not one to easily give back trust. I can't afford too, my sanity and peace of mind is much more important to me than another bout of blues derived from setting myself up to be crushed again.

I am not on the DA2 hate wagon but it isn't one of my favorite games to play. Sure I love Fenris but Hawke is duller than dishwater and that is who I have to play with not to mention the fugly mess that is Zevran. I was also not pleased that no matter what you chose Templars/Mages you got the same battle and outcome. I wasn't crushed though but I did say, "Boy, BW better have a masterpiece in ME3 after this game." And...we got what we got. DA:O does not have that, either the Warden dies, Alistair dies, or Loghead dies and the epilogue goes on to tell you what happens to the people. Heck Alistair can be king, some drunk somewhere and some other stuff I can't remember because I've only done those two things to him. I use to have fun playing the thing so I can see the Epilogue. Oh what did I just do? I shot Brother Genitivi and killed the high dragon let's see what happens there. I didn't shoot him and killed the high dragon, let's see what I did. I didn't shoot him and avoided the high dragon...you see the possibilities of things changing on just that part alone. DA2...great everyone goes their separate ways and Hawke runs off with Fenris. Whoopee. Satisfying but there isn't much of a difference.

The same could be said with ME2's endings but the difference is that we played with who lived and died, changed our choices for the hopes that all of that would matter in ME3. It did not. Killed the Rachni Queen..great here's another one. I blew up the collector base, destroyed it..so why does TIM have parts of that terminator left? Should it not been dust? WTF. I was under the impression that when he said "timed radiation pulse....intact" that one choice would annihilate it and the other would not.

Here's where your choices should have been implemented properly. You are a jerk Shepard who kills both Tali and Legion (or just turns him over to Cerberus) then you should get not the support of the Geth or the Quarians. Too bad for you. You killed Garrus, the Turians aren't pleased with you either. Too bad for you, go defend Earth yourself they will stay back and defend their own home worlds. But they cannot do that because they wanted new players. New players would automatically be screwed and you know what, they should be in a series like this. If new players was so important, give them a Genesis comic covering both games. Let them decide who lives and dies from ME1/2 and what plot points they want to pick.

A consequence from any of our choices in previous games involves our drell Thane. Funny how he gets picked on. That's right. Kill Kirrahe and Thane and that Salarian Councilor cannot be saved. There goes some Salarian support. You do not get another salarian or drell in their place to resolve this situation. If you off both Legion and Tali, you still get a chance to have either side support you. Why? Couldn't save the councilor with both Kirrahe and Thane dead, why do I still get rewarded in some way for killing Legion and Tali?

I'm not sad, more disheartened than anything. I had to laugh at the end of FFXIII-2 though, things happen, things are falling apart around you and then it says...To Be Continued...I was like, "Um, ok I'd be upset with this but I experienced ME3." I turned it off and now will wait for them to continue it. LOL.

To be continued...what a way to end a game. At least they were honest, you know that there is more to come at some point.

I also find it hard to take much comfort from other BW games although I have played DAO and DA2 a bit but anything BW pisses me off to some degree right now. As I have no intention in buying DA3 new, I'll pick it up 2nd hand on console and if I like it I'll maybe.... just maybe buy it for my PC when the price has dropped. As for any future ME titles??? they can just **** off.

I was a bit disappointed with DA2 but absolutely NOWHERE NEAR as disappointed as I was/am with ME3... thinking about what they did to Thane still makes my stomach lurch.

edit:  I have been enjoying Dragon's Dogma

Was there a message at the end telling you to buy their DLC?

1) I signed the petition for Dragon's Dogma to come to pc.

2) I'm currently stuck into Neverwinter Nights. It amazes me how much a company logo can make a difference. Bioware in the old days completely rocked.

I'm probably going to go for some DA2 soonish. Love all the characters in that to pieces, even if the story falls apart in act 3.
I was going to go for 'Dragon's Dogma', if only just to get in on the 'Resident Evil 6' beta, but after watching Angry Joe's review, I decided to wait for a patch. Seriously? An RPG with only 1 save file (*cough* Fable *cough*) and no fast travel?

Also, just to keep this on-topic, Thane.

No, there was no message at the end to tell me to buy their DLC. I expected it.

You know what we need a big message at the end with a picture of ridges stating, "Now that the reapers have been destroyed, continue the Legend of Commander Shepard by experiencing Thane Krios's second coming." Heh heh....

THANE found the lucite RIDGES on his chair, quite uncomfortable because his LEATHER jacket bunched up strangely. This caused his ZIPPER on said jacket to come apart; the teeth didn't stay zipped. Rubbing the back of his hand across his LIPS, he considered what to have for dinner. Too lazy to go to the mess hall, he opened the ice CHEST next to his cot. The bright GREEN granny smith apples seemed particularly appealing. Grabbing the apple, and tossing it in the air; he deftly caught it in his FLEXIBLE fingers. Thane then spies a new catalogue of fish for sale. Thinking he might buy his Siha a new pet, he flipped through the adverts wondering if she had a preference on the SEX of the fish.

I went dirty as soon as I saw Thane....you are a much stronger person than I am. Awesome job. He's alone in a room and he has a fish catalogue....I need to go in there and show Thane some real reading material. Or picture books.

Hello Thane Fans. Talking about baked goods?

I had a much darker question I was going to ask ya all, so when do we decided it's time to let it be, and abandon the BW ship?

I stayed with an abusive jerk for 17 years hoping he would change...my own stupidity and unwilling to see defeat (I figured if I gave up then I was a quitter)...I don't give up easily. I will stick around fighting for Thane until they fix it or flat out say, "NOOOOOO, it's not going to happen." I will not accept anything less than that.

I agree with Utaker. Until I get a definitive answer, I'll keep an eye on them. Once I get it, well, we'll see then.

And I've asked this before, but do any of you have a mid-point ME2 save I can gibb Margurite into. It's for the Photo Album Project, and it will just take FAR too long for me to get my PC up to the point where I can get Thane into Garrus's LM if I go straight fromt he beginning, which is what I'm currently doing.
