1/ Why did we only get one conversation with Thane before the Citadel coup?
I went back to the Citadel after every mission to have a chat with Thane only to find out that I that one conversation was all I was going to get , yet Kaidan had something new to say almost every time (I stopped ignoring him to check this). Also, that one conversation focused entirely on the fact that he was dying... We didn’t really have a chance to catch up with him, or ask about Kolyat. It really was very upsetting to not get to talk to my favourite character, especially when he was a LI.
2/ Why did Thane’s disease change?
He had a bacterial lung infection in ME2, but changed to a blood disease in ME3... That is very confusing, but I won’t go into the details as that was covered in the medical discussion over in the #SaveThane group.
3/ Why did Thane romance not unlock the Paramour Achievement?
If people stayed loyal to him in ME3, then why shouldn’t his romance unlock the achievement? Sure, it wasn’t much of a romance in ME3, but if Shep is committed to the relationship then that should be all that matters, no?
4/ What was the ‘private time’ all about?
Really, who’s definition of ‘private’ is taking one step to the side in a crowded hospital next to a giant window? It would have been nice to have had something more like the Citadel ‘date’ with Garrus, which Shep got romanced or not.
And now onto his death...
Thane may have not been on top form during the fight with KL, but he was a master assassin and even in the condition he was portrayed to be in in ME3, I think he would have been able to get a few shots on target. While this was not so much an issue during the fight scene (KL was supposed to be good at that point, after all), it later became a problem for me when KL was so easy to take down later on in the game (and I did play on Insanity). It really diminishes Thane’s abilities as an assassin at that point (yes, even with his condition) and that, to me, is why he didn’t “die a hero”. That, coupled with the fact that he actually just charged into KL’s sword...
5/ Why did Shepard and his/her squad just stand by and watch?
And this is really the main question that I would LOVE to have answered. It is something I really cannot comprehend and I get a headache when I try to think about any possible reason for this. The rest of the Cerberus troops had been wiped out, there was no one else there that would have been a threat to the Councillor apart from KL. Surely at least one of Shepard’s squadmates (or more likely Shepard herself) could have gone and helped Thane while the others watched over the Councillor? I can’t think of any possible reason why all 3 of them were content to just stand by and watch. Especially knowing he was not well and incapable of fighting to his true potential. And especially a Thane romanced Shep would not just stand by and let him die? And then, Shep just ran off to save the rest of the Council without saying much to Thane or giving him medi-gel or anything? Did he/she want Thane to die?!
And to the death scene. Well, again, there is an essay in the medical discussion that covers the blood transplant issue, so I won’t go into it. So...
6/ Why didn’t Shep tell Thane she loved him?
Obviously this is romanced only... but it was very upsetting to not have a romanced only dialogue/cut scene at this point of the game. Thane was dying right in front of Shepard and she didn’t have much to say.
7/ Why did no one mention Thane’s death?
Yes, Shep mentions him when she beats KL, but why did none of her friends seem to care? I was incredibly annoyed when Garrus mentioned Ashley when at the memorial wall aboard the Normandy. My Shep hated Ashley, why would she care about her now, when Thane had just died?
Well, that's. I obviously have a lot of other questions/thoughts but I just put down the main ones. If something I have said doesn't make sense, then please, let me know! It would help with the headaches I end up giving myself! =P
Edit: Sorry for the wall of text! Also, I took a while to type this up, so if it's out of place with the discussion now, I apologise!
