@Yamainu - *Tackle-glomp!* Hey Sweetpea! Glad to see you posting. :)

I suspect that most everyone (and this is just my guess, so anyone who feels differently, I apologize for the 'lumping') is just feeling a bit raw lately. New trolls to contend with, and louder voices from some of the other fan groups can make it seem like we are being drowned out. I have no problem continuing to fight for Thane. Just knowing that it is possible to make a choice for him work, is comforting, even if BW doesn't end up doing anything. WE know it would have been possible, but we are at their mercy to what content is made. Anyway, that is simply the worst case scenario in my mind.

Yeah, it's good to hear from you Dani! =D

And I agree Coldi. I, at least, have been feeling a bit more frustrated than normal lately. While I don't expect everyone to agree with us about Thane, I am quite shocked at the amount of people who just refuse to have a discussion about it, but insist on telling us how wrong we are anyway with the most ridiculous logic. Grrr! This is how my sister argues with me - by simply ignoring any solutions that I give her just so she can continue yelling - it's so pointless and a waste of time.

But I'm not ready to give up yet either! In fact, I've been working on a little something to wear to PAX:

Edit (again): Took a picture I was more comfortable with.

It really is sickening that BioWare seem to think a person being treated/or cured of their illness will somehow trivialize them. If anything they are the ones who trivialized Thane's character by making him one-note and just sit around to wait for his hamfisted ~dramatic~ death scene. Cause dying was his only purpose in the story, right? Ugh.

Yup

Ah hell....if Shep can handle rashes, hallucinations, the smell of aerosol antibiotics, and Turian teeth/mandibles.....that toothy maw of Javik's shouldn't be a problem.Posted Image

I might be new here but I am not going to give up either! If they don't come up with anything that will bring back Thane or give us an option to save him...*phbtt* you can forget about getting another dime out of me BIoware! I am not buying ME 4! Posted Image

Okay so I've thought about this girls for a few days ....before I started playing ME I was a BIG Sims 3 player I even have my own blog..I built houses, recolored object, put stencils on tshirs for the sims! So I thought maybe I can put a Save Thane stencil on sims Tshirts and put it on my blog for people to download for their Sims 3 game....I do have to confess though I haven't played with my sims game in 3 or 4 months lol....I might be a bit rusty...But I can do it...I can take pictures of it on my sims and show ya'll...Ya'll could probably put it in the project....but I might be to late on that huh? Anyways tell me what you think! Posted Image

So I just asked one of my coworkers, who hadn't played ME in a while, and only played ME2, what he thought the central theme was. His reply was along the lines of exploration and diversity.

Which I agreed with.

Nothing about synthetics :)

This is so apt and it makes me sad. Urbandictionary's definition about sums it up:

redshirt: A character in a science fiction or adventure story whose sole dramatic purpose is to get killed by the story's villain and/or intinerant monster.

Or the TVTropes definition. Excerpt:

A Red Shirt is the Good Counterpart of Evil Minions and Mooks — set filler for our heroes' side. Their purpose is almost exclusively to give the writers someone to kill who isn't a main character, although they can also serve as a Spear Carrier. They are used to show how the monster works, and demonstrate that it is indeed a deadly menace, without having to lose anyone important. Expect someone to say "He's Dead, Jim", lament this "valued crew member's senseless death", and then promptly forget him

:crying:

Except Thane didn't even merit the "lament this valued crew member's senseless death" part. He was just promptly forgotten about.

Good question to ask someone who hasn't played me3 yet!  Unity, when the going gets tough - the tough get going, helping hands (Shepard's hands primarily....ha!).....combined with what your coworker said, I think that is EXACTLY what I thought the general themes of the games were.  And we connect with those themes through the characters we are introduced to, and how we develop relationships with them (good or ill).  Everytime Shepard is asked for aid, there is often something that connects us back to the characters we have gotten to know.  This is something that was completely neglected with when in came to Thane's character and the Drell race (and the Hanar by extension) in general.  Really doesn't make sense.  Posted Image

@Julia - Those definitions of Red Shirts (and how they apply to Thane's character in me3) are a perfect find. And you are so right; skipped to forget. Which, in many episodes of Star Trek, eventually came to happen with the random Red Shirts, making this analogy even more true to Thane's treatment.

Just popping in to say a quick hello and goodbye before I head off in .... *checks time* ... fifteen minutes. I'll be in Brisbane and Maryborough for two weeks and until then I am "officially" internetless. However, that doesn't mean I won't be online, cause if my hotel has wifi you can bet Thane's sweet ass I'll be using it. I just won't be online as often. Fortunately, I have a lot of travel time so I'm anticipating having most of the revisions for the essay done by the time I get back. Cause having only about 20 minutes a day to write before I start work was really peeving me off.

Oh, and I'm taking my Thane plushie with me! So... more Adventures of the Thane Plushie! :D :D :D

I'll see you all when I get back, unless I do find wifi, which I better. *shakes fist at... well, nothing*

Loves you all! *hug*

You know, I am just sitting here like a scared monkey. I am repeating over and over again in my head, "Please don't throw me under the bus, BW and end up making me look like some jackass." UGH.

I know what you mean, at the same time if they do want to win back fans, now would be one of their best oppurtunities to do so imo.

[Edit] Should I gently poke @BioEvilChris/@masseffect on twitter? Or should I wait?

[Edit2] Found my answer on the #SaveThane group, I'll wait until you give the heads-up Squee!

Plus SDCC is coming up and they are all getting prepped for that - could be quiet-ish week on Twitter while they are gearing up for it.

Yes, we did just hand over an oppertunity. Although the waiting is killing me. lol.

@Cosmo: Thanks for pointing that out. It's something else we have to keep in mind.

She didn't wash her hands either before she touched Javik during Priority: Earth. Yes!!!
