Well if Thane is in it, I doubt there will be anything to explain anything about his character in ME3. It's Liara's comic after all, can't see them spending much time with any of the other characters when she's involved.

How as writers do you decide who dies and who lives?

Hepler, "Well, we have this dart board..."

Sylvia,
"It can depend on a lot of things. For story purposes we try to think
about some characters that need to live. That's one of the reasons Liara
was left off of Mass Effect 2 because we wanted to make sure she lived
through it, where every character could die in the end."

Gaider, "Sometimes it's hard when you love a
character so much and don't want to kill them, but if you don't follow
through with their story and they need to die for the story you're doing
them a disservice."

Hepler, "The big showdown for the Cerberus coup actually has a weighted scale based on EVERYTHING you've done with Ashley or Kaiden up to that point, so it does come into effect"

Hmmm... and what about Thane? Huh?!

(Sorry for taking over the thread a bit...)

Beat me to it! =]

It was just live text updates, rather than video and it's over now.

Kind of hard to thinkthey aren't referring to Thane, here, though they could be referring to Legion or Mordin....

The wording does sound awfully familiar...

Edit:  I wonder if they were warned about this kind of question and told to give the usual response?  But I'm not sure it was about Thane specifically, seeing as it was Gaider's response.

That was David Gaider who answered so I think he's just referring to any character in general since he doesn't work for the ME series.

But Thane's writer, Hepler, responded with this to that question:

Hepler, "Well, we have this dart board..."    <_<

Yep, that's what I was really quoting it for.  I guess it was supposed to be a joke, though I wouldn't be surprised if that's the way it went.

@moira-chan: I checked my videos - Thane asks if there is something he should know no matter if you talk to him before you visit Kaidan or not.
So Kaidan must have mentioned Shep's name when he talked to Thane about this woman he's waiting for to visit him.

You're welcome, Moria.

I wonder whom Shep is lying to - Kaidan or Thane. First she tells Thane that this thing with Kaidan is over for long. 2 Minutes later she tells Kaidan the same about Thane.
That would fit as a reaction for a renegade Shep - but for a paragon Shep ... **shrugs shoulders**
For paragons there should be another dialog I think, only telling one of the guys that she loves him.

Another thing that came to my mind watching this scene at the hospital again: I think I would have liked Thane to be a little bit jealous. Just a little bit, of course, not too much. Maybe just mentioning that he is jealous. But on the other hand ... its so generous of Thane that he promises to watch over Kaidan. Gee, that's one of the things I love.

Thanks for the link mayra :)

I tend to think that what DG said was in support of CH, they all know there's a fan movement (however small) to campaign for change. I think that is why it was mentioned. If he is referring to Thane its a weak statement, because they *didn't* follow through with his story, they followed through on ONE aspect of his story and disregarded the rest.

Chris Hepler is one of the worst writers on the series. He maimed both EDI and Thane's characters. Her he ruined by making her a sexbot with a tired, oiverdone story arch about android romance, and destroying the funny EDI that we saw on ME2. Thane he ruined with the reduction of his character into a redshirt. Besides, when you have TWO characters to write the story for, you don't spend 2 lines on one and a billion lines on the otehr. The guy simply forgot about Thane and made a half arsed effort to make an "awsum death" for him, in the lowest amount of time he could think of. And even with all the time and lines EDI had on ME3 he could not make her come alive like the EDI on ME2 did.

Guy is awful.

Ha, if they loved Thane they wouldn't have had every character in the game ignore/forget his "sacrifice". They did him a disservice by killing him and everyone including Shepard forgetting that he had ever lived. Worse, Thane didn't even need to die for the story, because everything in ME3 that depended on a ME2 character had a replacement at the ready. UGH!

Remember when we were EXCITED about ME3, not sick to our stomach and highly disappointed?

Its hard to imagine now,  I loved the series soooooo much.  I can't imagine ever playing any of the games again, leaves a bad taste, I can't separate the good of what went before with the total failure of ME3 and the way BW chose to discard two sections of their female fanbase.  They knew it would ruin the game for some but they just didn't give a crap.  That kind of treatment i just can't get past as a consumer.

Skyrim=Therapy.  Dawnguard's great. Still haven't touched the main quest on any of my characters.

I should have been playing ME3 over and over, putting my other Shepards through the final part of the series but even if I could swallow the insult that was the romances, I'm still nauseated by the auto-dialogue, the lack of impact made by previous decisions, the cameos, the cheap Cerberus = Teh Satan AND the endings and BW's conduct when it came to criticism concerning them.

lol I've been playing skyrim too...in fact the reason I'm posting is because I just got killed (again) by a bandit chief <_<.  I have not completed main quest yet either... I did start it in first PT but I went off my char and made a new game and have avoided it ever since I prefer taking on a questline and sticking to it and getting ambushed by dragons everywhere you go can get a bit old.  I'm looking forward to getting dawnguard, my char is a werewolf so I know which side I'm going to take.

LOL, get my rocket launcher MOD, is 1 shot kill for those pesky dragons and only weights 9 lbs :P

I am losing hope that bioware will fix Thane so I'm going to go back to skyrim modding and try to do a decent Drell with proper head ridges and no ears.

I wonder if a company that has killed a character and told the character fans to just FOAD has the right to sue for copyright if we use that character in other gmaes. Is not like we are hindering their ablity to sell more Thane content. They are the ones unwilling to make it.

I feel this is just a fancy way of them saying "It would cheapen his character".

Attention Everyone! This is just in...straight from BioWare's HQ!!!

If you have a disease, you are only good for three things!

1) Coughing.Throwing yourself at a sword. Dying.
2) For being used for a "majorly awesome boss scene"!
3) People with diseases should not have hope, they are just good for dying for people's entertainment.

I've said enough. <_<

Keep on discriminating, BioWare... keep on.

It gets worse.. Chris Hepler, the idiot that did EDI sexbot and Thane redshirt on ME3 just said this about the ME3 ending

"It could just be a last gasp before death, yeah."

Mdoggy1214 wrote...

Even though I never got the reunion ending I was hoping for in the EC, I was able to settle for Ashley not putting my name up on the wall, and then my gasp of breath at the end. Ambigious sure, but at least it got it's point across. They believed I was alive, and then it shows me take a breath. Not to mention guys like Tully and Mike saying that Shep's alive, and the file itself being named ShepardAlive. So ok then, it's confirmed i'm alive and a reunion is inevitable at this point. Fine i'll roll with that, i'll take that as closure.

But then Hepler had to go and say "It could just be a last gasp before death, yeah." at the SDCC panel.

Really?

Is he trolling or something? There's no good eason for him to have said that.

I remember how I felt before the ending and thane import

"This garrus romance is amazing! They really improved the quality! You can go on a date?! Man, I can't wait to do Thane's! Wonder where he will take me?  Haven't seen the guy yet...weird. Oh no! Kirrahe risked his life!  Still no Thane...hmm maybe I missed him like I did with Jack? That's ok, I'm playing my Thane romance import next. I can't wait to find out what his subplot was"

This isn't even a joke Posted Image

Oweee!

Mine was worse though. I had just finished playing ME2 and imported Thane eager to see the awesome new romance scenes.. Then that awful grope session with a guy who i can't even say I was there to see him (@!#@!# Kaidan!)  and tells me EVERY SINGLE TIME that I talk to him that I always knew this would end. GRRRRR :crying:

Asking for Help:

For over two months I have been running #SaveThane on my own. It hasn't been up to now since I started asking for help. There is a few people who are helping to run the sites and my message is not towards them.

However, advertizing wise, I have no one helping me. I sit down every night and it takes me nearly to 4-5 hours per night to hit all the sites and catch up with people. In truth, I cannot even communicate with my coordinators like I should be doing.

I know there is many of you who are passionate for a save option for Thane. Whatever your reasons are, I do understand it.

Truth be told, I work two jobs and I take care of my disable brother. The little time that I do have, I have spent here on campaign. Perhaps it's why it took me so long to finish the #SaveThane projects that I sent to BioWare.

What I am asking now is for others to help me by stepping up to the plate and help me make this campaign stronger. I cannot longer do it on my own, I have grown very tired. I'm about an inch away of giving up. Not because BioWare won, but because it's too demanding on my own personal life. I hope you all can understand that at least.
