Maybe you had some skills or equipment they believe are insufficient to win?

They kicked my drell out of a bronze match (did not dare to do a gold match with a drell), and the other characters were not better skilled than my drell was. And when I tried to join another team this one kicked my drell out, too. So I am pretty sure many players don't like drell.

After getting upset about this treatment I did this gold match (playing a human now - and nobody kicked me out even if he "died" very quickly in each round) with this awsome drell.

I've read some topics on multiplayer forum were people were arguing whether drell are awesome or or not. I believe most people can't use drell properly and therefore they think they are too weak. Anyway, it's their loss.

The first gold match I ever did in MP was with a drell (not the one I played yesterday) - and he survived all waves.

I always wonder why there is no infiltrator drell - that would be perfect for an assassin like Thane.

Well, I also wonder why Thane in ME 2 did not have a cloaking device like Kasumi. Would help him with his jobs a lot.

Wow, that's really odd, I was never treated this way. Maybe it was just coinsidence. I hope so.

I think that there should be a drell infiltrator too, they're natural infiltrators.   (remembering Thane from ME2)

Damn. I'm wishing I could play multiplayer, but I'm on the PS3 and my internet connection HATES my PS3. I couldn't even download Javik! I'd get halfway and then the connection would reset or some other such bullsh*t. I need a new ISP.

And agreed, there should be a drell infiltrator. :)

I don't understand the hate on Drell in MP. I main a Drell Adept and I dare say I'm more than decent with it. People just don't tolerate anything in the MP.... -.-

And yes, I've been thinking that a drell infiltrator should happen...and I always had this image in my head about a more melee based drell that dodges the crap out of Atlas and then strikes at the weak points with... anything! Make the whole attacks being part dodge/part melee.

It'd look so sweet...

1.  MP = ick.  I will never play it on principle, and I  don't want to, anyway.  MP stole money from SP.  Period.  Who knows what SP would have been like if BiowarEA wouldn't have spent the money on MP.

2. Trolls.  Don't feed them.  Honestly, you are wasting your breath, and just increasing your frustration...and blood pressure.

3. Forum population.  Also, remember who forms the majority of the ME player base,  and therefore, the forum population.  Males under the age of 25.  Not necessarily known for their abundance of maturity, especially in online anonymous situations (of course there are exceptions :P).  Which is why BSN has more than their fair share of trolls.  It's worse than the WoW forums, imo.  HTL  is quite a bit more civilized.  If you want real input for something, you are much more apt to get it there.  The audience is much smaller, though, so that's the tradeoff.

4. Dissenters. The problem is that most of these people haven't romanced Thane.  While the sample size is still small over on the HTL poll, 70% of voters who don't want a cure for Thane, haven't romanced him (90% of those who have romanced him do want a cure).  They are likely male.  They also likely have no idea what his romance is like -- haven't You Tubed it or whatever.  They don't care b/c they are too busy watching the vids for Miranda, Liara, Jack, Kelly, Liara, Allers (ew), Ashley, Liara, and Tali.

So, in their world, Thane was this cool assassin, who was all good with his impending death in ME2, then in ME3 he kicks this other lame assassin-wannabe's a**  and then dies.  There's even a nice scene at the end where you can say goodbye.

To them the whole storyline makes sense.  It's their "reality".   Therefore, in their reality, we're just a bunch of whiny girls who are pissed off and depressed that BW killed our boyfriend.  To us it sounds like they are talking out of their a**es, but to them, they are talking about their reality of unromanced Thane.  It's all about differences in perception.

This is why arguing with most of these people is going to be futile.  There might be a few that we can reach.  But, many of the others:  1-don't care enough to read our diatribes, 2- lack the maturity to engage in a meaningful conversation,  3- just want to be jerks about it.

I'm not saying we shouldn't defend what we believe in and think is right, or throw in the towel.  What I guess I'm saying is maybe we should reconsider how much energy we spend debating this with people who don't care enough to get informed, and are trying to be antagonistc.  I honestly don't think it's worth it.

Maybe instead of spending so much time engaging these folks outside of the Thane thread, we should be putting that time and effort into helping Squee with the different #SaveThane initiatives?

Maybe a Wordpress would be a good idea for posting our articles, diatribes, essays, etc?  Not to mention artwork, links to all the social media sites, and more? Kind of like a headquarters that isn't so "social mediay"?  I know tumblr is a blog, also, so maybe not -- it seems much more like social media to me, rather than an actual blog.   Anyway, it would give us all a place to hang out together outside of the BSN forums and away from the drell hate!

I agree with you giftfish, 100%. Most days I don't fight with anyone unless I'm having a bad day . I know, it's not the most mature route to go.

Like giftfish said, for a non-romance Thane the storyline in ME3 makes sense to these people. It's not exactly their fault that they can't realize how badly ME3 messed up the romance Thane.

I have indeed taken #SaveThane outside of BSN for three reasons:

1) I know there is people who are more in support of us (male and female). If you take a quick glance at my poster I made, most of these people aren't even on BSN. Hell, if you take a look at the original piece I made for Thane in regards of an save option.... the support I received hits though the roof.

2) We can avoid these dumb debates every time we mention a save option for Thane. By signing up on one of these sites I have setup, you will feel like you are part something.

3) Like giftfish said, I have come to find that most of these people are much, much younger than I. That is saying a lot since I only turned 28 recently. However, as much as I tried before avoiding this topic, I was married at 18. I married a terminally ill man. Although I don't expect many to understand this logic, I do understand why people would want to save Thane. Do not let anyone make you feel bad for wanting to save someone. This is just human nature. Trust me, I know this first hand.

Do not let BioWare think they can teach you a lesson about life and death. They are a game company, they can never successfully pull off such a lesson, no matter how hard they try.

Let me try explaining this and hopefully a few of you will understand it. When I was little, my mom gave me goldfish. This goldfish was so chubby that it couldn't even swim, it just floated to wherever the tank took it next. It was a pretty funny fish and I loved it, it was my pet and I took care of it.

However, a few weeks later, my fish... died. Poor "Fred", he was so chubby that my mom couldn't even flush his fat butt down the toilet. So, she had to throw him out with the rest of the trash.

I cried... threw a tantrum... I even rolled around on the floor in tears because I somehow wanted my mom to bring him back from dead. Life to me at the time was not fair to take away my fat goldfish.

My mom responded to me with this, "Everything dies eventually", "Take this as a future lesson to you". At the time I didn't get what she was applying, but I do understand it now. However, a goldfish can never be fully compare to a real life death of a loved one.

I personally feel that is what "Big Daddy" BioWare was trying to pull off. Maybe it's just due to my own personal experience, but I feel that they were trying to hard to hand us a goldfish (Thane). So while others run around happily with their goldfish lesson, I personally flushed that bastard down the toilet a long time ago. This is why I think an option should have been granted (one of the reasons). Not all of us is going to be sucked into such a lesson.

This.

That BluProtoss guy or whatever, everytime Thane comes up even in non-Thane centric threads, he has to spout off at the mouth. And while that other poster in the Essay thread may be claiming he's not a troll, he is. He may be coming off with actual 'facts' (from his POV at least) and capable of proper spelling and grammar, but that makes him no less a troll. In fact, he's almost exactly like two lore.... enthusiasts, I'll call it, to avoid censoring, from the LotRO forums back when the EU version was separate. Did they know what they were talking about? Hell yeah. Facts, timelines, proof. Good grammar, no overt baiting or flaiming. All snide and veiled.

Did that make the way they came across to the people they tore into any less trollish? Nope. They eventually got banned. People, even people in my own Kin tried to say they weren't trolls, but an intelligent troll is a troll just the same and thankfully the mods there finally shut them up. If this forum had a proper ignore function it'd be nice, but frankly I think you guys ought to just let him spew his vitriol at the wall and focus more on the other posters in the threads he pops up in. Your time and intellect is better spent on more receptive minds.

I'm glad to see Spammy still around though. I miss a lot of the NSAS crew some days.

In other news, I think I've come to the only thing I can do to salvage the first two ME games for me: I've decided to just pull a card from the Matrix fans' tricks and disavow ME3. It may be a bit pessimistic, and I do not by any means say this to discourage the rest of you from what you're doing, but I am no longer certain Bioware cares about our particular part of the fanbase. Some part of me even suspects we're the new 'Talimancers' to them. Creepy/bizarre/too obsessed. Not that any of those adjectives are correct, in my opinion, but it's the vibe I'm getting.

Either way, disavowal is the only way I'm really able to bring myself any measure of peace on the storyline, and since coming to that conclusion, I've actually felt a compulsion to replay 1 and 2, and even pick my old dusty fanfic back up.

Florence + The Machine's "Never Let Me Go" may have also helped a bit. I find that song oddly apropos to my whole Thane/Shepmance.

I was listening to my ipod on shuffle while running today and that song came on and my first thought was about Thane. It made me sad to hear it but for some odd reason it made me run faster. Its definitely a very Thane and Shepard appropriate song.

^Ahhhh join the disavowed, Sister Maera.... :D Even though I still enjoy thinking up new ways they could give Thane an option to keep him till the end of the game (while not changing what they already released....). And, I still fantasize about how it could have been....but I do that partly BECAUSE I have chosen to not count me3 in the storyline of ME. I play ME and ME2, and after the SM I imagine for myself where things go. Lung transplant for Thane with Epumulous Device for aid, going rouge in my lovely Normandy SR2 (get yar filthy paws of my ship Alliance and Cerberus!). With Liara's help Shep and Co. find plans for an ancient device (wait for it........), and once built, breaks the ability for Reapers to indoctrinate. And lastly, Shep brings the galaxy together (unity baby!) and kick the Reapers in the "daddy bags"....booya! Stuff like that.......I switch it up from time to time.
Weeeee! :)

@coldwetn0se: As soon as I conjure up a decent plotline and direction for the ending, etc, I will probably get back to writing. There is a particular scene in my fic that if I never do anything else, I need to at least get written. The plot bunny bothers me to this day. Shara had to endure many nights of me annoying the ****** out of her with PMs about "Would this work? Is this okay you think? What about? Whose POV would work best? Flip between them?"

That she hasn't blocked me is a miracle in and of itself. :P

Link to which one hun? To the original idea or poster? The Original Idea is what started this mess, the poster is what started the phenomenal. The Campaign is now beyond my own understanding.

**hugs** Some users can be rude, mostly the younger ones. I've made bad experiences with that kind of people on my own some time ago in another forum.

It is just like giftfish points out (no. 3 of her points): Especially the younger ones troll every character fan-thread and took out all the fun of posting. So I decided to avoid these threads in this other forum and to ignore them. It's better for my blood pressure and my mood in general.

On the subject of trolls, I'm usually rather hesitant to use the word, but it is hard to take someone seriously when someone isn't even trying to back up what they are saying with something substantial, especially when asked to do so by the other part. Inadvertedly to someone like that, because by doing so, they are actually making themselves look  uneducated on the subject.

And true, it's a waste of time to even engage in anything remotely resembling a discussion with someone like that.

That said...I don't know if anyone of you  guys ever saw the change history for Thane's page on the Mass Effect wikia, but it did give me a chuckle when I read it:

I know what you are thinking; who is "Stormwaltz"? It's Chris L'Etoile actually!
If that isn't hard evidence that a romanced Thane is afraid to die, I don't know what is.Posted Image

And with that said, I'm off to make some art for  the ME3 romance DLC movement!Posted Image
(Squee I'm also working on that giftart, I just gotta meet a deadline for the abovementioned!)

It's just a rumor. People are guessing that the Leviathan of Dis DLC will take place on Kahje because of the underwater screenshot.

Praying it isn't on Kahje then. If it is, there goes any last chance of fixing Thane I suspect. Any good chances at least.

This DLC is most likely something they planned before releasing the game but the EC stalled it and now they can go back on track.
