@Emerald - Very good find. Thank you for the link.....and honestly, your posts about your mother have never been depressing to me. You have a unique way of presenting these experiences that you and your mother have had, with an interesting objectivity (even though, you are deeply involved with all of it). This makes it come across as 'relatable' and 'inspiring'. Good on you. :)

Aw thanks for the kind words. Really I do mean it. :)

The more I think about Thane's dialogue in ME3 the more disgusted I get actually.
First time I saw it I thought "Eh wha?"
Second time: "Wait, this isn't making any sense."
And the third time: " What the...this is...this is ableism."

The dialogue for Thane in ME3 was complete garbage. We probably would have been better off if Thane had been written by the same guy who wrote his LotSB letter.

If Bioware ever decides to fix the mess they made with Thane in ME3 I hope the do not use the same writer he had in ME3. He just doesn't understand the character at all.

I agree!

I mean where the heck did they get this writer from...off the streets? By how he wrote Thane in ME 3 you can tell he knew zilch, nada, nothing about Thane...I highly doubt he even studied on Thanes character even the romanced Thane, I might not know for a fact but you can tell by how Thane acted in the game!  Posted Image

If Bioware fixes this horrible mess they did with Thane....please hire the original writer from ME 2, and please give us an option to save Thane Krios!

And...

*Check L'Etoiles notes on Thane*.
Seriously. From what I've gathered, L'Etoile kept track on a lot of the codex/galaxy map facts.
I wager this holds true for Thane as well.

*Check the comments fans made in respose to the "Cure Thane" facebook event.

Thane didn't have a whole ton of material to look at. There was certainly alot to him, but nothing you couldn't watch/learn in about an hour.

True, I think the biggest challenge would be to tackle the fact that Thane is by no means a one-dimensional character, there are multiple facets of him and I honestly think the writing in ME3 doesn't reflect all of them.

Oh and I'd add:

*Check background stories regarding the "Belan Catastrophe" and the "Vallum Blast" on Cerberus News."

They had a goldmine oppurtunity for a diplomacy scenario with the turians/hanar involving *gasp* a viable treatment (Eupolmos Device) for Kepral's but like much else it was forgotten.

The man who wrote his LotSB letter didn't seem to have to much trouble getting into Thane's head. I'm sure he did some research even if there wasn't much, but I think it helped that he also had a girlfriend who did the romance. He probably got a lot of ideas from her, and even though it was just a letter you can see the effort put into it.

It just feels like his ME3 writer didn't even try.

Very true.

As great as that would be bioware probably ran off Thane's original writer for good. I wish they could get him back though. If not him then maybe the guy who wrote the letter. I can't remember his name.

@LanceSolous13

Well I colleceted the news stories over here:
https://docs.google....vAdM/edit?pli=1

Long story short;

A hanar colony named Belan is devastaded by a comet because of a miscalculation. The turians were supposed to use a dreadnought to destroy said comet before it would collide with Belan. Since scientists deemed the comet to be harmless the turians didn't send a dreadnought. As a result between 1.1 to 3.5 million died (presumably the majority were hanar/drell).

A coalition of the Red Cross(Human), Healing Waters(Hanar) and Lifebearing brigade (turian) provide medical supplies, lodging etc to the victims of the  catastrophe.

Sometime later the turian colony of Taetrus is attacked by terrorists in an event called the Vallum Blast. The debris dust from the attack cause respiratory illnesses. In response a volus inventor comes up with the "Eupolmos device" also dubbed as "medi-gel for the lungs". Some fuss is made as to who has the patent rights but it ends up being turian military property who intends to use it for the greater good as opposed to profits.

And some time later the hanar are showing concerns that the turians are no longer aiding Belan to which the turian response is that the situation on Belan is a priority to Palaven.

It's not that much of a stretch to guess what would be an excellent way to reconcile the hanar right?
*Cough* medi-gel for the lungs *Cough*

Huh, I didn't know. I just remember her role in what later became the Cerberus Coup in ME3.

? I don't remember reading that.

I just remember Kasumi being set to have a mission involving the Hanar (and Drell) Homeworld. It sounded like it was Grissom Academy or Maene in size. All that remains of this idea is her current mission which saves Kahje from the Citadel Embassies.

Huh, the script I read had Kasumi helping out Kolyat on the Citadel because Udina tried to sacrice Kahje to the Reapers...Thane intervened at some point in that scenario iirc.

I don't remember Kolyat and Kasumi being involved but I do remember Thane being killed by Udina or something.

I barely remember any of that because I just skimmed the script while researching for the essay. I remember that Thane is murdered by Udina, but I don't really remember Kolyat.

Sad thing is, even what little I remember would have made a better story.

I definitely don't want Hepler writing Thane again, if they rewrite his content. He is NOT a good writer. Hell, most of us HERE are better writers than Hepler.

Hear me, BioWare, either hire back Chris L'Etoile, the man who wrote the LotSB letter, or hell, even hire ME to do it! I can do a better job than Hepler and I hate everything I write (which I do. Seriously, guys, I do! But I suppose it's okay, because I don't become complacent if I think that). Hell, ANY OF US THANE FANFIC WRITERS would do, because almost all of us, even those of us who aren't native English speakers CAN DO BETTER THAN HEPLER!!!!!!!!

But yeah, seriously, I would lie if I hadn't thought about what I would do if, as a result of the essay, BW actually came and asked me to rewrite Thane's content. I admit, I would JUMP at the chance, just so I can give Thane a better story. Hell, even if they wouldn't let me retcon his perma-death, I could still give him a better story.

We all could.

that's what looneyspectre send me, when i asked him about the leaked script:

"9
There were actually two Thane-related missions in that leaked script, contradicting each other.
The first mission was centered around Kolyat, seemingly based on the outcome of Thane's loyalty mission. Thane is already deathly ill at that point and asks Shepard for one last favour - Kolyat got into trouble with Cerberus (either by snooping out their portable indoctrination device or by accepting that Joram Talid job - Cerberus now wants the killer out of the picture). Shepard saves Kolyat and then has an option to tell him to go to Kahje immediately, or visit Thane in the hospital. Either way, Thane dies peacefully in his bed knowing Kolyat is safe.
The second mission is the Cerberus coup, but put differently. No Kai Leng involvement at all. Thane contacts Shepard and warns him/her about the coup, then helps him during the mission by sniping Cerberus troops, and finally takes out Udina when he has the entire Council at gunpoint. There are three possible outcomes: Thane kills Udina with a deft move and then collapses on the spot and dies after a short conversation (with a special tearjerking scene with the romanced Shepard following, she cradles his head in her hands and cries over him); Udina manages to shoot at Thane in the struggle, Thane gets "pissed off" (sic) and kills him with a strike in the throat (the bullet wounds the asari councilor, but not mortally), then collapses and dies in hospital (still with some romanced Shepard-specific content); Udina tries to shoot the asari councilor, Thane interposes himself between them, taking the bullet (if Thane isn't around, the Virmire Survivor takes the bullet instead if not killed already), then Shepard shoots Udina.

Though the retcon about Thane's health condition sounded even worse: "I know all the experts on the Citadel. Ran diagnostics two weeks ago. I asked what they recommended at this late stage. They said, "spend time with your family."

I have a little something from mappeli. And I'm posting it because it's only equally as NSFW as angua's drool-inducing pic, and if that got through, this definitely will. ;)

I have some parts of the Shep-Thane-dialogue of the leaked script somewhere on my PC (I am not sure but I think I found it somewhere here in the forum, maybe in this thread some months ago).
Is someone interested in those lines?
