Dubbed the "Cure Thane Banner" It was a fan collaboration and was sent in to Bioware in 2011 (iirc), it was a banner with artwork donated from those who supported a cure. The collab was done on da.
BioWare recieved it and afterwards promoted the idea on Mass Effect 2's facebook.
That was the gist of it iirc.

Kaidan/Ashley: If not killed in the coup, they can either be your squadmate or sent off to Hackett. They are still doing something.
Wrex: If he survived Virmire and you didn't sabotage the Genophage, he obviously starts working on the repopulation of the krogan and will be on Earth. He is still doing something. The only time he is not is if you sabo the geno and you have to kill him.
Garrus: He's your squadmate and even if you never take him off the ship, he's still doing something. Calibrating.
Liara: Nearly the same as Garrus but can be found not calibrating but stalking the space outside the captain's cabin. She's still doing something.
Tali: Admiral Tali now, she's your squadmate and she can either live or die on Rannoch. Regardless, she is still doing something.
Miranda: Is out trying to find her sister and stop her father. Save her and she's there for you in the end. Still doing something.
Jacob: Knocking up Brynn and helping those peeps from his mission. Then you get his help with the Crucible. Still doing something.
Mordin: Either dead or if you have Wreav alive and sabo the geno, he'll help on the crucible. Still doing something.
Samara: You help with her daughter(s) and she helps you in the end. Still does something.
Kasumi: One tiny mission but is helping with the Crucible after. Still doing something.
Zaeed: One tiny mission but helps you in the end. Again, doing something.
Grunt: Rachni mission and helps you in the end. Still doing something.
Jack: Grissom students and helps you. Still doing something.
Legion: Dies helping upload stuff to the geth. His body is dead but the data he transferred is helping you in the end. Still doing something even if his body is not.
Thane: Dies. That's it. Doesn't do anything whatsoever for your character in ME3. Fodder for Kai Leng.
I did not count EDI, James or Javik as I was going with past squadmates. The point is..each one of them helps Shepard in the end whether it be fleets, crucible, ground, squad EXCEPT Thane. He served no useful purpose in ME3. As far as I'm concerned they could have just written a blurb about how his illness took him between games and it would not make any difference. It was like he never existed. They plopped him in the hospital and that is it. The little bits of crap you picked up from planet scanning added more to helping Shepard than Thane did. He was LESS important than gathering goodies from the planets. Think about how much that hurts and how much that is the truth.
So for anyone who worked on this game and to say, "I liked Thane." BS...if any of them truly did, then why does he add nothing to the game?
Unless you count anger and disappointment...he definitely added that to my game.

I thought of it after watching a video of a bunch of fans voicing thier reasons why the original ending ruined things for them and let them down. It's one thing reading complaints but HEARING how disappointed the fans were added a human element. I'd love to work on a project like that since I enjoy making videos! Also getting supportive male players to voice their displeasure will also help too.
I saw that myself I think it was 1hour or 2 hours long,my memory is bad atm lol...but I listened to the whole thing!
Yes I think we could get Lance and gears and other male supporters (if we ask them) to join us ,that would be Great!

In the "Why saving Thane wouldn't trivilaise him" thread, I posted direct quotes from the game about the difference between ME2 and ME3. I would appreceate the support on what I posted.
Quote from the CDN article added.
Sadly a bit busy atm, so I don't have time to write something more elaborate right now...
Friendly Nitpick Note:

I had personally actually forgotten the past tense deal in that convo, good catch.
A side-note is that the LoTSB letter is actually written similarily i.e using specifically past tense.
(Then again that could be because the letter is intended to be read after Thane has passed on but my gut and logic says otherwise)

You could edit it into your own post if you wish but I believe there was more than enough evidence in my own. Though, I see no harm in laying our cards on the table.

The more I read that letter the more convinced I get that at one point there was discussion on having Thane live.
It would have been a gold mine for romance fluff to let Shepard bring up that letter...*
It would have been damn easy to let players who didn't play LoTSB get a hold of it via Liara.
(Yes I know it does get sent after he dies in ME3 but it's not unrealistic that Liara could pass it along before talking to Thane)
*Which in my headcanon Ivy Shepard does by sending Thane a letter while incarcerated. If anyone wants to read it I'll link it.
(Yes the no-communications rule...Ivy has dismissed that claim via her tech skills)

So please, just give me some time. I am just speaking out of frustration nowadays. Some think it’s great while others think I should go on break. I personally think I should shove my foot up BioWare’s butt, but that could be due out of frustration or I hit a whole new level that most aren’t ready for yet. All I know, in time, I will discover which route to go.

*scratches head* I thought I was done with BioWare *shakes fist* but after a few messages from people, especially from people who are underage and/or suffering from diseases themselves… I realize I can’t give up this easily. No matter how much I want to throw the towel at BioWare and tell them to go screw themselves (waving the finger at them as I do it, lol), I realize (probably for the first time) I am really speaking out for others.

I saw that Lance and you did an Excellent job!
I admire what you guys are doing over there!I just don't say much over there cause that troll is nothing but a stubborn one sided (insert bad name here)
I sound like a coward don't I? sheesh but I just don't waste time with people like that, that just go on and on and on and on without any point whatsoever! I'm not saying defending what you are saying is wrong or trying to explain something to somebody is wrong...I'm just saying that troll has no point and he just keeps on with his nonsense! I'm kinda thinking he's doing it on purpose.....

Take your time to relax Squeegee!
Believe me there are days where I wish I had some money so I could build/buy a spaceship from NASA gather all the people from Bioware take them up into outer space and throw them out the air lock!
But I know that's not the way to go lol just keep fighting I tell myself...that's what I've been doing for 31 years with my disease and I'm not gonna give up! I understand in a way that it's frustrating...you feel like your yelling/talking to a brick wall with this company and they are on the other side...but all we need to do is stick together keep fighting and sooner or later we'll tear that brick wall down!
Stay strong!

Like I said I may need to write down what I'm going to say cause it would be just a big mess if I didn't
1. What made you pick Thane Krios as your Shepard's love interest/or Best friend?
2. What did you like about Thane Krios?
3. What were you expecting before playing ME3?
4. What disappointed you of how Thane Krios got treated in Mass Effect 3?
5. Should Thane Krios have an option to live and why?
I want to know if these questions are alright though before I/we answer any of them if you have a question you want to change or add please tell me!
Edit: Added Hyrule_Gal's question!
