In the past I would have said, "no, Thane's death was not good" but now I just want to say, "what death is really good?" No matter the how, why, where, when, or who...there is no such thing as a good death. My cousin Jimmy Jr. committed suicide while I was on vacation by jumping off the Ausable Chasm bridge and a couple of days ago a school friend shot himself during a police stand off. Neither of those deaths were good. Granted both Jimmy and Tom wanted to die but it didn't make it good.
Regardless of whether Thane had a death wish or not, I really wish people would stop saying, "Thane's death was good." It wasn't. He got stabbed, bled out before getting help, went through surgery to repair the damage, had trouble breathing before he actually died. Just what part of that scenario was good? Because that is the way he went out. I don't know what is crueler, just leaving him there to bleed to death or repairing the damage so he could gasp for air for moments/hours before actually dying.
As for the Angel, Connor/Cordelia thing above, I was fine with that...it was the turning Spike into a sniveling, Angel clone, dolt that did me in. I liked him better when he was a dick, at least he was entertaining. I knew it was all over for my bad boy vamp when they started having him parade around with Buffybot....although the straddling scene in the graveyard and Zander's face will be one of my favorite moments ever.
