Since we were discussing Kaidan, I actually do like Kaidan, but not as a romance option for my Fem!Shep. I only have one Shepard who romanced him (then went for Thane in ME2), and all the rest of my lady Shepards ONLY went for Thane (me=sucka!).

Here is something kind of interesting; I adore Ashley! I am not religious at all (never have been), BUT it adds an interesting touch to her character. She has a depth to her, and her backstory is intriguing. My Sheps don't always agree with her, but I like that dynamic about her. Funny thing is, I liked her character immediately, and only found out months later (late comer to the ME series), that she was written also by Chris L'Etoile; Thane's writer. Needless to say, I always have a hard time with the Virmire decision (but I always remind myself that it is a "choice".....gotta love that, right??). Considering the direction they took Ashley in, in me3, and the hack job on Thane's character arcs (and lack of content), it really shows that things would have been much better/cohesive/consistent if L'Etoile had been around for me3. *double sigh*

Me too! *fist bump* I'm perplexed why she gets so much hate though. She had so much depth to her character so I still get annoyed when she gets reduced to a "racist" . Probably much as Thane gets reduced to "that dying guy". You know a thought just occurred to me, maybe the majority of people just hang on to thier first impressions of ME characters no matter how much they evolve or change. So no matter how much we say how Thane's outlook changes or WHY ashley feels the way she does, most people (who aren't invested in these characters) just cling to what little they understand about the character we're talking about.

Speaking of ash, I was annoyed that she didn't go out of her room on the normandy . I really wanted to see her interact with the old crew.

I don't hate Kaiden I just don't like that he,traynor and allers starts flirting with her and such right after Thane dies...uh hello her boyfriend just died and you want to get in her pants?They did a crappy job with him as they did with other characters in the game!No offense but I've just never been interested in him being my shepards LI even though he is a nice guy!

I really like ashley's attitude..though I don't like her hatin on the Aliens lol!

Same here - I don't mind her racist remarks ... but I don't like the "skipper" thing, her poems (funny thing - I really like it, when Thane is poetic), the "family honor" thing (Ash, just get over it!) ...

It's a good observation, though not very practical considering how the game works. If you tell Kaidan that you don't want him anymore and are happy with Thane, it effectively kills your relationship with him for good (since he specifically asks if you're still interested). Apologizing to him, while may be weak, is actually the better choice in this scenario as it kind of allows you to have your cake and eat it too. You explain yourself to Kaidan while still maintaining a good relationship with him AND Thane. I don't know how it works, but it does.

My Shepard wouldn't normally apologize for such a thing. On Mars, she made it clear to Kaidan that she's who she is, and no amount of threatening will get her to change that. But you know what they say, love conquers all and all that...

@Roxy: I wish they would have given a one to two mission buffer before people started hitting on you after Thane's death. This, compounded with the fact that no one mourns him was a big kick in the teeth, and I didn't romance Thane! Why couldn't my femShep mourn a friend?

Regarding Kaidan and Ashley: I like them both, but hated Ashley got the shaft in ME3. And you can't tell me her writer used up all her lines on the Citadel when Kaidan could wander around the Normandy and talk to other people.

I saved Ashley on a lot of my playthroughs but to have her be mute on the ship was maddening. It's like they reduced her to hating Cerberus, and didn't give her any growth. Sort of like Thane.

With Kaidan,I figured out that if I didn't wanted to ninja romanced by him (since I feel terrible about turning him down during the lock in) I just don't by him any booze. The lunch/date goes on as normal and I can go on with Garrus.

To me, Shepard is a hard, confident woman, who does not need to apologize for choosing what she wants. She doesn't have to feel sorry or guilty for loving someone instead of Kaidan. That's why my Shep would never return to Kaidan after Horizon. She knows she is worth more than being accused of treason and even though she can forgive that, she would never ever let that man touch her again.
I have a Kaidanmancer playthrough only because I wanted to see how does Bioware's 'canon' romance look like and what Thanemancers didn't get at all. I actually started to like that Shepard but it was hard to come up with a good explanation for Shepard being so weak. I came up with the idea, that she is just a person who does not take seriously anything including relationships and just wants Kaidan back because she can't allow herself to lose.

And my canon Shep - Angie - killed Kaidan on Virmire so that the problem is gone. She's mostly paragon and yet, she would never be with Kaidan after his words on Horizon. It was even hard for her to forgive Ashley, but Thane helped her get over it. Yeah, he has got a great influence on Shep, one of a reason that I just can't stand ME3, he's too important to her story.

I only played through all 3 games once. Tried doing it a second time, but ran out of steam a few missions into ME3. Both times, I romanced Thane, even though I fully intended to do Garrus my second time around. I just couldn't pass up Thane. He's so sensitive and interesting. In my head canon, after ME3, Shep survives and goes on with Garrus to right wrongs and fix the galaxy and eventually they end up a couple after a few years, but Shep is always waiting to meet her drell across the sea.

Well, you can be rude to him on Mars, but it doesn't really affect the relationship. It isn't until your conversation at the hospital that you get an option to either confirm the relationship or end it.

So I must have missed the opportunity on Mars to be rude to him. In the hospital conversation I took the renegade option but after Thane's death he still invited my Shep to the Apollo's (well, in fact it's him who wanted to be invited by Shep for a drink - I always wonder why Shep is the one who has to pay for his drinks and steak sandwich - not very gentleman like:blink:).

It's not the end of the relationsship. Kaidan doesn't react in any way to the renegade answer.
I think the only way to end it is at the Apollo's or when he asks if he should come to the Normandy or accept Hackett's offer (which is before the date at the Apollo's, as far as I remember). I never tried the last option but since Kaidan is not aboard the Normandy I think you won't get the date and therefore you cannot start the romance again. But maybe I am wrong.

Idk...alot of people are used to seeing her in her armor,but if we see her in her normandy clothes it would be just as nice!...I don't think I helped any there lol but it's your project it will look Great either way I'm sure! ^^

Crud I don't... (Well I have a screenshot that could perhaps be edited) But I don't have the textures for 3dsMax. Well thing is I have no idea as to how to extract a texture from a txtmod.

(I would need the diffuse map, spec map, and normal map, but txtmods are compressed, and atm I don't know how to extract textures from them)

I could edit the diffuse map of the dress (Yes, I know my Shep has the "dreaded butt-zipper dress" lol) into something more "Thane" inspired. Hmm...*Puts on thinking cap*

Aha! I could add a Thane-Pentagon and a Thane ribbon! And edit the red details to be green! How does that sound?

Wow there is so much talent on here!!!!

I haven't done a playthrough with the Kaidan and Thane confrontation yet however. In ME1, I found Kaidan to be a fascinating character, I found his dialogue to be well written, and the conversations between him and Shepard just seemed to really flow. His beliefs and philosophies are intriguing and it is clear that his character has depth. However, when I romanced him, I wasn't very keen on the romance arc. It just seemed to break the immersion for me.

In ME2, Thane is the opposite for me. His romance arc contains so much depth and really conveys a powerful bond between himself and Shepard. And when he opens up to Shepard, it is revealed just how complicated a man he is. And I like complicated men!

However, if I don't romance Thane on a playthrough, then I don't see that connection with my character and him. And throughout ME2 and ME3, I can't empathise with his plight from my character's point of view. Which is another reason why his death was poorly orchestrated. A Shepard who didn't romance him had a lack of connection with him or any kind of 'bond' with him. Whereas a Shepard who did romance him receives an unavoidable tragedy with very little content.

This is me (trying to) stay objective of course...
