ME: @MoiraMller @Squeegee83 We understand and appreciate your feedback very much. Thane is a special character.

I don't do twitter, but I wonder if someone could point them to the survey, and say if Thane was such a special character, why did they butcher him so badly in ME3??

That's exactly what I was just thinking..if he's so special then why did you treat himl like "Crap", "A red shirt"?!
the list goes on and on! Image IPB

"Now that we’ve got that out of the way, let’s get to the actual thinking. I always saw the ME2 love interests as roughly analogous; Jacob and Miranda for normal people, Garrus and Tali for the awkward xenophiles, Thane and Jack for those who like hint of tragedy to their love. There’s a thing in ME2, perhaps a cut or dropped plotline, that I always felt highlighted this especially. I can’t remember exactly where it is—either the description for Jack’s biotic upgrade or the post-recruitment/loyalty mission report—there’s a mention that Jack is suffering from rapid neural degeneration as a result of her modifications. Exactly what this means is never elaborated upon, but I always took it to mean that Jack, like Thane, would have a limited amount of time with you.
Now, imagine if they’d run with that.

Mass Effect 3, and you find Jack in the hospital. She’s dying, but she’s not unhappy about it. In fact, she tells you she finds the inevitability and lack of pressure peaceful. Later, Cerberus attacks, and she’s killed by the Illusive Man’s latest pet project while saving the life of a councilor, doing Kaidan/Ashley’s job for them. She is never mentioned again, and the Normandy crew members talk about how glad they are that nobody died.

And the female fans—they love it! They talk about how badass her last fight was and how she finally redeemed herself and how it was coming full circle for her character that she died defending a councilor. And whenever you try to argue against any of that people tell you you’re just mad because she’s your waifu and you’re a ****** for liking the damaged girl in the first place.

Welcome to
Thane.

YES. YES. THANK YOU."

I got's one better Miranda dies from the lame thing with her dad no matter what. HAHAHAHAHAHA I'm evil, that b!tch pissed me off and rubbed me wrong. On the upside the horde of Miranda fans we all could tell it was a cool thing, and besides she was a dead end LI anyway she can't have kids. Can't have a happy ever after, and she died for good reason, and died from IDK what kind of injury but it's cool right?

Ohhh nothing p!ssed me off in my first ME3 playthrough than when Miranda died and my Shep was all holding her hand calling her his friend, and spewing forth how great she is, kinda like the Liara rolling out of the vents on mars. WAIT I take it back that p!ssed me OFFF the most. GRAAHHAHAHAsdafjsalfhskfskah;kf I dumped Liara so many times in ME2 and then that in ME3 ahdhdafdhalfhdkafjavnalKACV

I can't

I tweeted RShara's pic to BioWare a couple of days ago. They didn't reply.

As for that post about Jack, at the moment I'm so pissed off about the way the majority of blokes are treating us that I would actually be happy for this to happen, and for us to give them a taste of their own medicine.

Yes I can be petty.

Snicker....bah ha ha!!!!

As for Jack, just to let it known that I did read the actual post and didn't get sidetracked by Gears's bad rubbing experience, I remember reading that part about neural degregation and wondering if she was fated to die.  But having read the books and knowing about what goes on at Grissom I figured that while at Grissom her implants had been looked at (as they are tested on a regular basis) and they had simply been fixed/replaced to halt or slow down her neural issues.  Of course, that helps no one who doesn't read the books.

Then I looked at Thane, sighed that he couldn't make it to the end of the game at least, ran to the nearest mirror and realized I was not born with danglies so therefore I was automatically bent over when it came to fairness in ME.  If Jack had been a man, Jack would be dead in ME3.  If Thane had been bisexual, he'd probably still be alive.  Of course these are just my feelings and I'm sure BioWare will just call me a bitter fangirl for feeling slighted.

Is funny how Chris is on a high horse about sexism. Insulting or not, the company that calls their easy mode "girlfriend mode" in the dev lab has not published it thatt way. Bioware has actually released a game deeply biased towards male players, and deeply sexist. Bioware is worse than the "girlfriend mode" guys.

Ladies, one thing to keep in mind is while we all feel strongly about Thane, sending hostile tweets isn't going to win us any favors with BioWare, and in fact, might make them less likely to do anything about it.

There are always ways to get your point across, without being rude, snide, etc.  I  tried to walk this line very carefully, when choosing the comments I  highlighted throughout the comments docs for the Romance DLC survey .

I know that we get sick of being on the defense constantly, and that due solely to our opinions on Thane, we are treated like crap and harassed by many people on these forums.  However, treating BioWare in the same manner, however wrong we think they were about their treatment of Thane (among other things), makes us no better than the trolls that stalk us here.

Let's be persistant and make our point, but be tactful and respectful while we do it.  They'll be much more apt to listen to us. :wizard:

I'm kind of passive-aggressively hostile lol

I want to tweet something like, "Been a female gamer longer than some male gamers have been alive, kthxbye"

But seriously yeah....it's sad that they don't even REALIZE how sexist they're being. I'm glad John pointed out what he did.

I'm just putting it out there.  I don't have any speciifc examples or anything, and my comment was just in relation to what Askeebee said.

I'm not saying we have to be all sunshine and bunnies when we try to interact with BioWare, I'm just saying, tact and respect are good things.  Throwing tweets out there that are just going to ****** them off, doesn't make them want to love us and doesn't make them want to fix Thane.  That's my only point.

I understand that. In this thread and the other Thane thread we sometimes say exactly what we think of Bioware and what they did. On twitter I think we try to be a bit more careful because we could be talking directly to them sometimes, and being really hostil will likely get us nowhere. From the tweets that I have seen we are getting there point across to bioware without being nasty to them. Hopefully they will listen to us.

Quoting myself, I have news on the website :)

****Update on Step 3 - Design. 22/08****
- Thanks to Emeraldfern, now we have a beautiful background :) I tested several configurations, now the web is adapted to show the brackground properly on all screens (I think..xD). If you can't see the web properly please use Ctrl + and Ctrl – to adjust it to your screen.
- Added a Shoutbox xD
- Added a list with links to media sites.
- Logo updated, I tested different versions last night but it seems the most simple is the better... I tried with shadows and effects but it was... weird xD But it can be changed at any time if you don't like it.
- Added a favicon!! (The little icon on your browser tab)

And I think I'm done with the design!!! So next step :D

****Starting Step 4 – Content****
I'm going to start with the main menu. There will be a few pages there with some information about the campaign and the website. I think the best way to proceed is writing all first in english, I will share the text with you here for revising/editing/spelling fails and then we can translate it to the other languages. This is what I've thought for the moment:

* Home.
* The Campaign.
- Our goal: When the campaign started and why, what do we want. Reaction of fans to ME3, evolution on media sites, polls and surveys information.
- “Needs Title”: Differences between Thane on ME2 and ME3, story incoherence, poor treatment of the romance. Pictures and links to SB Dossier, Eupulmos device, game quotes, videos, medical essay. Cure campaign promoted by Bioware, links and screenshots. Sexism on ME3.
- Projects.
* News.
*About Us.
- Our team: Campaign leader and collaborators, media sites coordinators, project coordinators, website coordinators, collaborators, translators...
- Contact.
- Disclaimer.

I'd like to hear your opinion before I start writing, am I forgetting something? Any ideas for more content? Thank you!

More news soon *-*

You can let me know your opinions here or on the group discussion: http://social.biowar...scussion/23945/

Thanks for the update, Serenade. I'll wait for your text to translate it into German.

About sexism in the game: You're so right, Sihas ... never thought about that before (yes, I alway think first people are all good and devs treat male/female players equal - time for me to learn that this is not the case). But now as I've switch my brain on (finally), I recognize that it is exactly as you point out: Jane Shepard (and all of her sisters like you and me) are treated very badly when it comes to the romances - first giving her one of the best LI ever in a game in ME 2 just to take it away with a very big evil grin in ME 3, telling her that it's better to be a male gamer than a female one 'cause male always will get the best.

Now I feel very depressed and need some ridges, I guess.

Well the flourish of activity is astounding. Bravo Drellickers and Friends of Thane! Been away visiting family, so let's play catch-up. :D

@giftfish - wonderful job to you and all other statictians that worked on the survey. I noticed right away that the "cure OPTION" was being answered by more than those that romanced him; too bad there wasn't a way to truly highlight that fact. Not uncommon for people to just see the percentages and not the total number of survey respondants (vs respondants of those that romanced him...). Such is the nature of surveys though. Hopefully BW will examine your hard work, and it is viewed by those familiar with survey numbers/precentages/and other statistical measures. ;) Great comments by so many (you even highlighted one of my comments....*giggle*).

@Serenade - Lovely work on the website; applause! Look forward to seeing it come to fruition. Plus, lots of fodder to be had from this thread and the Protest Thread, if you are looking for comments, ideas, art, humorous diatribes (to take the bitter edge off...hehe), etcetera....I'm sure most would be more than happy to donate these to the website. :)

@everyone else - hi. <3

Yeah, that's in part why I  put up a post highlighting the fact that it wasn't required that you romance an LI  in order to answer their questions, using Jacob as an example.  It's important to looking at the result for all LIs, including Thane.
